To avoid sin is good for you. Your salvation isn’t conditional on it. Your avoiding sin did not earn your salvation. What God did at the cross was a free and unmerited non-reciprocal gift. These pastors that confuse their ability to avoid sin with having earned God‘s gift are the antichrist. We are well-versed with a love characterized as a transaction. It’s a worldly love. God‘s love has no strings attached. It makes it easy to avoid send when you realize God would love you anyway and did.

Church isn't designed to give you a sense of fellowship. If you think ot is you're going for the wrong reason. It's designed to be a place to hear the word of God and to worship him accordingly.

"great church"? Is that in general or your specific community? The way it is stated makes it sound specific. Isn't that a bit arrogant?

I can appreciate what this gentleman is trying to say. Despite the editing, the video's message is very similar to something I would have said when I worked in Christian Ministry. However, as so many individuals, church members and non-members alike tried to explain to me then and am now in complete agreement various features of the institutional church defeats its purpose. These features are described in any number of words. There are two words the gentleman in the video uses that are often used as descriptors and are in harsh contrast with what the gentleman is trying to convey: hypocrite and church (family). A hypocrite “claims to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's behavior does not conform; pretense.” Pharisees are a prime example of this very behavior, saying one thing but doing another. Sadly, this same practice is too often seen in the modern church. While the overall message is to provide someone with a safe environment, such as one might find in a family, the reality is many people seeking what the church claims to offer don’t find it. Many times people lashed out at me because they weren’t being seen or heard. And it was only when someone died that they might receive attention of some kind. Frankly, and without much preamble, the system of the church prevents the very family environment it claims to provide. A system of business, hierarchical authority, and institutionalism. While these may seem like big words and commonly heard definitions of the church, it bears mentioning that the attitude of leaders and fellow Christians toward each other is generally apathetic. It is rare to find even a small group wherein open and honest conversation can be found. Rather the general behavior is to say, or more accurately believe, one thing but do another. I am very much convinced many Christians believe they are good, kind people who want to help and listen to others. When the reality is: when a question is asked the answer is go read your bible; when a conflict arises leaders are too quick to recommend the parties take it elsewhere, typically to some secular professional; when a person's needs arise they are set aside due to service times and/or various business duties, etc. Loneliness, injustice, and inconvenience are what so many are left experiencing, carrying, and believing. Why be around people who when push comes to shove are not willing to practice what they preach, is the question many who have left the Christian “Church” are asking. Tradition, not scripture, has built an institution of the most rankest. My statement may be harsh but allow the simplest exercise to bear this point out. Biblical precedence cannot be established on a word that didn’t appear in literature until the turn of the 11th century. Church, like any other word ever used in any translation, is a borrowed word to paraphrase the Greek term Ekklesia. Originally Ekklesia was a very generic word generally denoting an assembly. Nothing more and nothing less. A simple gathering of people. Over the centuries “church” has come to be defined not only as an institution, or in other words an organization or corporation, but also by a tainted history. I don’t believe God had in mind that his community, his family be renowned in such ways when he already outlined his people to be more than an ethnic group but an organism that operates within and through a reality and environment, complete with inherent “laws of nature” and expectations, of his own making. Eden isn’t simply limited to a poem in Genesis 1. Eden is the sacred space he would see brought into a very barren world. Built with “blocks of living stone” that bring glory to him and not drive people away. I would challenge this gentleman and any who may read this to ask yourself, does what I believe actually line up with scripture or tradition, does what I do align with God’s will or church culture, am I responsibly seeking to understand this God I claim loyalty to, and how far am I willing to go to see even Jesus’ challenge to the rich man or young man be either part of my attitude or lifestyle or both? Christianity, as it has come to be defined, sadly does not generally meet the description or expectation of God’s community as outlined in Leviticus 19, Deuteronomy, Matthew 5, Acts, and 1 & 2 Corinthians. These are serious problems and we need serious people to solve them. Never once did God require status, schooling, and/or ability to be made in the image of God, be part of his family, or operate within his will. If you fear to rock the boat that is the church, I understand completely. I was in the exact same position. And yes, it did result in my losing my “job” and many people I thought were friends, “brothers and sisters in the Lord” and, even, blood relatives. Its not easy following Jesus, but maybe, just maybe what he has in store for us can be what we should expect from others who claim to follow him.

What if I keep finding out things that make the church into a hypothetical establishment with false roots that worship a false idol that may actually have been the worst being in mythology, having in this instance used a gentle and kind man as a mascot for hidden cruelties?

It's strange for me to hear people say like it with the church family as if you can trust people in church either as if you can just walk in and be welcome though you would hope it is like that but no I've been both kinds of churches actually many kinds of churches and never really felt welcome by the church itself maybe by a few Members only

Amen. The Bible is a tool to help us understand what God wants us to do generally. We have to go to the one who commissioned it to get details. Pray about your purpose and when God tells you believe that the God that created the universe is smart enough to get a message to you you'll understand. Pray and fast for Him to teach you how He speaks.
