    Love love depression glass. You have some very pretty pieces. Don't they make depression glass in lime green as well? TIA.

    Great video, Barb. Thank you for sharing. I am new to the hobby and was wondering if you could tell me what year the Fenton Green Jadite fan vase was produced? Have a great Thanksgiving, and a very Merry Christmas!

    This us exactly what I needed! I always serve Thanksgiving on my anchor green princess set, and it always looks a little sloppy because I'm more focused on the food. This year I want my table to look as good as the food!

    Great to know they are safe. I have vaseline star marble gum holder that glows too much yellowish green when exposed to UV light. It probably contains 2% or more uranium.

    You can tell the members of the MDGS are truly accustomed to being around glass. As I write, I'm squirming slightly in my seat, mentally willing Barb to move those beautiful pieces of glass away from the edge of the table and away from arms that could accidentally knock something on the floor. Obviously, she has far more experience with glass than I do!

    I love hearing how family members piqued members' interest in Depression glass! My favorite feature in your cabinet? The clover flowers picked by your grandchildren!

  • @jean6061

    Thank you! I can appreciate the work that went into my etched pieces even more now. I'm glad you mentioned how some etching is deeper than others - I discovered this with my last purchase of etched stemware.

    Jonathan, I really enjoy your presentations and look forward to more in the future! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful glass with us. Love that Cambridge etched pattern!

  • @jean6061
    @jean6061 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like to imagine that the reason so much of the glass, once available in great quantities, is now hard to find is because the families of those who originally bought it love it, too!

  • @jean6061
    @jean6061 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jonathan, you're a great teacher - love all the information you share besides showing the Fostoria Wisteria. So interesting how that dichroic glass changes color under fluorescent lights! Oh - I think you really need to add some of the etched stemware to your collection, don't you? Perhaps another time you could share those pieces of two-color Fenton (?) that are in the cabinet behind you. I'd love to hear how that edge color was added. Thank you for putting this together!

  • @jean6061

    Susan, this was so much fun to watch! I loved that you shared so many tablescapes in one video - that was a lot of work for you but I'm sure the viewers appreciated it! I loved the blue tablescape with that gauze-like tablecloth. But when the burgundy tablescape came next, I just said out loud, "OOOH!" and then laughed at myself. I do love burgundy and that was so elegant! I am impressed with your floral arranging skills and that's encouraging me to add some to my table. Your comment about the Moonglow wine glass had me laughing, too. Maybe that's more of a Moonglow wine sampler! Your presentation gave me the confidence to try different things and experiment, which I do enjoy doing. Your comment about the bowl that was used to rinse out beverage glasses had me laughing, too! I used to live near Fredericksburg, VA but never thought about that aspect of its use! Thank you SO much for putting this together, Susan. Perhaps another time we'll be fortunate to view some of your other glass.

  • @jean6061

    Jonathan, I love the place setting at 8:26 - such a great way of incorporating all those colors. And the bottom plate picks up the handles of the flatware! Clever! With your green and pink place setting, you're creating your own version of "watermelon glass"! Being a grad of MSU, I thought of your green place setting as your ode to the Spartans. Go Green! LOVE your etched setting and the suggestions you made for showcasing the etchings are great. I have three etched plates but haven't used them much because they sort of faded but now I'll pair them with a dark placemat. I think I could also fan fold a cloth napkin and insert it into my etched iced beverage glass to do the same thing. This was such a nice treat - thank you so much for all the work that you and Susan went to.

  • @jean6061

    This was wonderful! I really appreciate all the work it took to transport all those lovely pieces of glass and arrange it all so nicely on the tables. The additions, too, are great - the vintage thermos for jars of food, your mom's picnic basket. Lovely. And to hear you're from Livonia was a treat - I spent my early childhood there! Still recall my address!

    This video is such a wonderful treat! Seeing your collection is a bit like visiting a museum - thank you! I wonder if the 9" plate would be considered a luncheon plate. I have this size in two Noritake patterns from 1908 and really love them! I hope you are able to create more videos like this!
