I'm 79 years old and have lots of time to play music and enjoy my life. I love all the old music that I listened to when I was growing up from the 40's, 50's and 60's. I have played music since I was 6 years old. Took accordion and piano lessons early on, Thanks to my parents. I played alto sax through high school and college. Then played in our local 17 piece big band for almost 25 years. I also played as a duo with my ex for about 20 years. I'm having a lot of back problems, so have decided to play my new Yamaha Digital Piano for awhile to give my back a rest from the accordion. I use to play keyboards, so I'm enjoying learning all about the possibilities of the digital piano. To me it's about the music, not necessarily the instrument.

Sailor's Hornpipe Cover by Pat Walter as a Big Band Arrangement on her Yamaha Genos 2
Everyone knows this little song and it is fun to play. I decided to arrange it for big band. LOL The sailors won't be doing much work to my version, but perhaps sipping rum and napping. The Sailor's Hornpipe (also known as The College Hornpipe and Jack's the Lad) is a traditional hornpipe melody and first printed around 1797.

Yellow Days Cover Piano Arrangement by Pat Walter on her Genos 2

Relaxing way to start the weekend. Pretty old standard I decided to play as a piano arrangement. "La mentira (Se te olvida)", also known in English as "Yellow Days", is a bolero written by Álvaro Carrillo in 1965. I played it as a straight, slow jazz arrangement. Felt right to me this morning. I hope you enjoy my few minutes of relaxing music.

I was playing with some 60's styles and came accross this and ended up playing it on piano with a little jazz backgroud. Usually The Last Farewell is a big orchestral arrangement, but I went in a different direction. I still remember Roger Whittaker, also composer, singing it in 1970. It was a big hit. PS it's a doggie chew toy in the background, not a poopy pile!!! LOL

The control, attacks, releases and dynamics available on the Genos 2 impress the heck out of me. They are amazing. Controlling it all is another skill. I featured an old fashioned alto sax with vibrato, like in the old, old days. Muted trumpet and a bit of piano. Time for a nice slow dance with your sweetie. I hope you enjoy my little combo.

Today my doctor, a cancer survivor, explained to me that once you have cancer - your life, body and mind will never be the same as before. Made me think of this song as I struggle my way through radiation fatigue. A great song loved by many. "You Gave Me a Mountain" (sometimes credited as "Lord, You Gave Me a Mountain") was written by country singer-songwriter Marty Robbins during the 1960s.

This is a beautiful waltz that a friend on Facebook shared the music. I found a different arrangement by Gary Dahl. The composer is Edwardo Capau and written in 1908. I hope you enjoy my arrangement.

Remembering Memorial Day with The Mansions of The Lord from the movie "We Were Soldiers." Written by Randall Wallace and Nick Glennie-Smith in 2002. I used my Genos 2 and the Movie Horns with the Military Snares. Beautiful music to remember our fallen soldiers.

A fun way to start the weekend with an oldie. Fun on the Genos 2 with the saxes and trumpets. "If I Had My Life to Live Over" was written by Moe Jaffe, Larry Vincent and Henry Tobias and published in 1939. It is actually a waltz, but I played it in a 6/8 swing style. I hope you enjoy a bit of my weekend fun.

Happy Mother's Day. I'm remembering my Mom with a favorite song of hers. I used the vocalizer on the Genos 2 for harmony. Interesting. Settings not quite perfect, but I am learning. I hope you enjoy my tribute to my Mom. "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be" was written by the team of Jay Livingston and Ray Evans that was first published in 1955.

Having fun leaning about all the attacks and nuances of the instruments. Facinating. Also the drum backings are great! I look strange at the end because I went into double vision. LOL Double notes and keys, but not double the sound. This was written by Joe Young and Ira Schuster in 1931. I hope you enjoy my little getting to know you video.
