Detailed recipe: Uncooked soaked brown Chikpeas - 1.5 cups Hard spices - 2 clove, 1 cardomam, few peppercorns, small bayleaf, 1/2 inch cinnamon, 1 tbsp cumin Powdered spices - 1/2 tbsp turmeric, 1 tbsp chilly powder, 2 tbsp coriander powder Salt to taste Fresh coriander / coriander paste Tomato - 2 medium Onion - 1 large Green chilly - 2-3 Ginger - 1 inch cube Garlic - 5-6 large cloves Coconut - 1/2 cup Curry leave - 5-6 Oil Method: In some oil, sauté hard spices with onion ginger garlic and chillies and cool down In a blender, add tomatoes coconut powdered spices coriander and fried onions and blend with water In a pressure cooker, add oil curry leaves, chickpeas and blended masala, cook on low until curry simmers and then pressure cook for 4-5 whistles or until filly cooked, adjust salt and serve hot with rice, roti or dosa

Lord Brihaspati (also known as Dev Guru Brihaspati) or Brihaspati graha refers to planet Jupiter in Vedic astrology. Dev Guru Brihaspati is the teacher and instructor (Guru) of all the gods. Additionally, Jupiter or Brihaspati is the biggest/largest planet in the solar system. His wife is Tara (or goddess who personifies the stars in the sky). In the Mahabharata, the son of Brihaspati named Bharadvaja is the counsellor of the Pandavas. Tara was the wife of Brihaspati, the guru of Devas. According to historians, it is mentioned as her husband spent most of his time with the problems and matters of Devas, she felt being ignored by her husband. One day, Chandra, the moon god visited Brihaspati. There he saw Tara and was captivated by her beauty. Chandra used Hypnosis on Tara. After some time, Brihaspati found out that Tara was pregnant and questioned her who the father of the child was. But Tara remained silent. After the boy was born, both Chandra and Brihaspati claimed to be his father. Detailed Recipe: Rava Kesari / Kesari Bath / ಕೇಸರಿ ಬಾತ್ (This version is cooked without Saffron aka Kesari) Semolina / Rava - 1/3 cup Sugar - 1/3 cup Cloves - 2 Crushed cardomam - 2 Ghee / clarified butter - 2 tbsp Boiled milk - 1 cup Raisins / cashew - Few Method: Dry roast semolina for a few minutes on low heat and put aside to cool down, add ghee, spices, dry fruits and sauté on low heat, add roasted semolina, add milk and cook on low until fully absorbed, add sugar and cook on low heat until fully cooked, use a grease mould of choose to serve in desired shape.

The Kurukshetra war, between the Pandavas and the Kauravas, was one of the greatest battles of all time. No one could stay neutral in the war, all kings had to pick a side. But, the king of Udupi chose to stay neutral and said that he will be the caterer for the battle. It seemed like an easy task but it wasn’t. The entire battle lasted for 18 days and each day thousands of soldiers died in the war. After the war, the soldiers of both sides would sit together and have food. During the meal, Sri Krishna would sit by the side of Yudhishtra Maharaj. The Udupi king would personally serve both of them. The Udupi king had a tough task of cooking appropriate amount of food without wastage. Surprisingly,every day the food prepared was sufficient for everybody and no food was wasted. People wondered as to how the Udupi king would prepare, just the right amount of food required by the survivors everyday. One day, the Pandavas went into the kitchen and asked the cooks how much food was in excess or shortage. The cooks replied that each day the Udupi King fixes the amount of food to be prepared for feeding the exact number of surviving soldiers.The King deducts the number of soldiers that are going to die each day and orders the food to be prepared. The Pandavas then went to the king of Udupi and asked him, How does he know exactly how many soldiers will die each day? The Udupi king replied that Krishna loves to eat boiled peanuts at night and he is the one who serves him the peanuts. After he finishes eating, the king counts how many peanuts have been eaten by Krishna and then will know the number of soldiers dying next day. For example if he has eaten 10 peanuts, tomorrow 10,000 will die. Every day, he counts these peanuts and cooks accordingly, so it turns out right. The Pandavas then realised that the fighting is just a mere show but Krishna is the one who decides who dies each day.
