Some old 16mm footage of Northumberland County Fire Brigade (1960's). This includes the opening of the Headquarters and Fire Station at Loansdean Morpeth. Some footage of crews carrying out helicopter winching training on the Westland Whirlwind Helicopters of 202 Squadron at RAF Acklington 4.00 (Now the prison) prior to an exercise with Blyth lifeboat
Thanks for sharing this, Neil. Brings back some memories.
Blimey. I was so young, I was with carol bell talking about the BYP and how it was a much needed service for Berwick. I'd also like to add that since I wasn't born in Berwick and moved there when I was 15 the friends I made were just the best, much fun was had and I class Berwick as my joint hometown to where I was born. If any of you happen to see this, I remember you all fondly and want to say thank you all for being awesome. Time is a cruel mistress as we age, but memories last forever.❤
A long time Ago BYP was a life line for me
No diversion thru Kelso now..
Loving this. Any idea what the programme was and who the presenter is? The date must be late 70s I guess.
it was a bbc series called "Six English Towns" very early 80s i think. its out on dvd
Hello there, Would you mind if Berwick Record Office showed this film as part of our jubilee exhibition in the town hall? Thanks, Cameron

Seems to me that 'surfdom' was very much still alive in Berwick in 1982. The true locals on one side, and the council leaders / professionals on the other. Plus no voice given to the true locals who look like they'd like to say something. My understanding is, the council still doesn't truly listen to the people. Gotta say; the mayor looks way too smug!!!
blast from the past I was inside the town hall with the Berwick youth project
still a shit hole and its 2016
Thank you very much Neil for letting me see once again my Dad in motion. The narrator talks over whatever he's saying but it's just wonderful to see his expressions. Thank you so much. xXx
Thank you. It's a lovely piece of film. I met jack Parsons who made it back in 2005 at the Maltings Berwick, he had some fond memories of the people involved in the campaign. It was released on DVD in 2005/6 I'm not sure if it's still available. It's fabulous that you've seen your dad!
sill very interesting
1948 not a health and safety manual in sight. Three months! That would take years today even with all the new equipment.
After scrutinising the video further i was wrong in my other coment.. It is actually the new station on South Road.
That would have been taken when the station was oposite the Bird n' Bush .
very interesting
wonder what the piano piece was it was great!
Great stuff, Neil!
Great stuff, thanks for posting!
Who's was the snorkel?
Good seeing the late Colonel David (Big Danny) Ward KOSB, he was an outstanding soldier and a wonderful man.
Oh look there's me and my gran at 38:53 talking to the Queen :)
