Fair play lad, with today's lead, not the same as it used to be, wooden bossing stick, draws the lead quicker and better
This what I call a dogs ear, not a professional plumbing job at all, dress or burn
If you take the time to look at my other videos mate you will see I am more than capable of dressing or lead burning and where I was taught it was called a pigs ear and plumbers rarely do Leadwork anymore but thanks for the comments
I’ve been casting code 9 at work today. I don’t envy the lads laying that. 😂
I e just done a year contract and pretty much every bit of lead was code8 💪🤦♂️
@@shaunatkinson694 some of our lads are on Woburn. All code 8. They moan at us like mad. All they say is it’s to thick. If you need anything. We are based in Leicester. Sand cast lead conservation. We sell everything mate. Make sure you type it in properly. As we have a sand cast lead too. But he’s a con man.
Tidy mate👍 what code of leads that?
This was code6 mate and thanks for the comment appreciated mate if you would subscribe to my channel that would be 👍🏻
What number nozzle do you use for propane?
Depending on what code lead mate 2 and 4 normally
Fantastic work man ship
Thank you🙏🏻
Mate that would have been better to boss the corner in and more stronger corner as lead gets drawn into the corner from both sides, you started yhe corner well should have just continued that way
Hi I was just showing another way of doing a corner I’ve shown how to dress up a corner so this is just another way I was shown mate. Cheers for the comments 👍🏻
where do i get a corner block from... nice technique shaun 👍
Hi mate, My father in law made it for me pal although there is a guy that does make them Alan dower is his name if you can find him on Facebook
@@shaunatkinson694 thanks for the reply👍
please use a bossing stick
Used a stick for years mate, still working the lead with a mallet and is quicker
Thanks for the comment though mate if you want to check out my fb page you will see I am capable of bossing spa leadwork
What Lead Burning set-up are you using Shaun??
Hi mate, It’s a small portable set up from a guy called Richard Kent he’s on fb it’s called a Oxy-weld set up, it’s a nice little set up Thanks for the comment mate and if you do contact him let him know I sent you his way👍🏻
We were never permitted to do ‘Pigs Lugs’ on Castles here in Scotland. Code 8 all Bossed. What Code is that Lead Shaun? Great videos mate, keep them coming👍👍
Code8 mate, I could boss these corners but time on this phase is against us unfortunately Thanks for the comments mate👍🏻
Am glad someone else knows what they are talking about, you dont pig ear lead simple 👍 Go and have a look in the LSA Manuel and you won’t find that detail in lead.
Just watched your video. Nice work and yes im going to make a corner tool now. Thanks for the video. Spot on
Thanks mate for the comments and yeah it’s very handy!
Fantastic work
Thank you👍🏻
You are not meant to fold lead like that 😮You are meant to boss lead not crease it 😂 It’s lead not Zinc 😮
There are lots of folds used in Leadwork mate welted joints etc
@@shaunatkinson694 Of course there are folds but doing that creases the lead and it will crack. It’s something you do with zinc or copper, not lead😦
@@MPM4882 it’s been done for hundreds of years mate i haven’t invented this way of doing a internal corner
Nice work, great info on improving the lead work. keep the vids coming. 👍
Thanks mate
Brilliant tell your grandfather thanks I've been walking lead for years and getting frustrated u just solved it 👍
You make it look easy... what code lead are you using?
Hi This was code6 lead Matty
Looks easy ...... But it ain't believe me . 👍🏴
Thanks mate it does take practice
Very informative are you using map Or propylene looks like a nice bit of kit to lug around the roofs
Map gas and oxygen mate and yes great bit of kit
What size nozzle do you use for code 4 just picked up a propylene set and it only come with size 1 nozzle
thanks for this. really struggle with vertical. will practice this
Great mate I’m glad this has helped someone practice makes perfect 👌
hi shaun so im not very experienced with lead beating but i have a fair bit of scrap lead and i want to make a couple ashtrays (basically a square about 50mm tall all around) any tips for getting 4 solid corners without welding it? much appreciated
Hi, If you google pigs ears lead corner it may explain it better than I can but that is how to make a corner without welding lead Hope this helps Shaun
👍
So what kind of alloy is it??
This is lead mate
@@shaunatkinson694 so the alloy is lead and the material is?
@@adrianlinojr373what do you mean by alloy? The material used is lead, and the filler rod is lead too.
@@brad15020 gotcha thanks
Are you selling theses ?
Yes I am they are made to order as I can do various designs
@@shaunatkinson694 I’ve been a roofer for 24 years that’s amazing how much u selling them for
Love this design how much and what’s best contact
Use a bossing stick its easier
Cheers for the suggestion pal
@@shaunatkinson694 love that corner tool though, I'll be making one for sure.
Cast lead looks crap
It’s on a listed building mate so what comes off goes back on and once it’s patinated it looks nice in my opinion
Milled is better but as you said what comes off must go back on
That doesn’t even look like cast lead to me. I’ve been doing it years. Where’s the leopard spots? Looks like milled.
@@thedarkhugheshughes2640 Milled lead isn’t as good as sandcast lead. I have to disagree.
Great video, hard to find footage of a lead slammer. (loodklopper in Dutch) Thanks!
Master spanker
Hi,can I purchase one of those anywhere?
Hi, I had it made for me, I’m not sure anyone makes them it’s just a broom handle and a corner piece of wood about 4” high
Keep the vids coming mate appreciate them
Thanks, will do!
Even though on your most recent video, you said, leave a comment… commments disabled! I was going to say thank you for showing, I don’t think it’s the best, but practice makes perfect right? If you was getting negative comments mate.., just ignore!! You are providing free education 👍🏻
Hi mate, Thanks yes the torch is new to me and is a prototype so is tricky to say the least
Still prefer cromapol 😅
😂😂🔨💪
Making it look easy
Thanks mate
Post more videos please
What code lead ?
Code6 lead thanks for the comment❤
👍 good job,nice vid.
Do you have a video when you actually put it in place and finish the install ?
There is videos of me doing the roll ends on my channel mate
Co to za blacha?
Box gutter
Ołów
This is lead
It's nice to see someone actually doing this as it is not very often. Like the idear of the torch.
It's gonna be a long old day at that rate pal
Do you have any videos of bossing that over the wood roll I’ve only learned how to cut and weld
Hit it harder m8
talk dirtier chris
Love that corner dresser. Did u make it urself? If so was it basically a square mallet cut into shape?
I had it made pal
Superb
Thanks 🤗
Hi Shaun just subscribed brilliant lead work we’re can I purchase the corner mallet from?
Hi and thank you! My father in law made it for me it’s around 4” high with just a dowel as a handle 👍
That's the leadwork equivalent to riverdance! Fucking majestic.. 👏👏👏
Cheers mate appreciate the comment💪
I'd be like " don't split don't split don't split lol "
What Code of Lead is that mate?? What’s your Metal Plate made from, Is it Steel plate?
Code6 mate and the plate is a Calder striking plate hope that helps
Good work fella. What a difference a bit of heat makes. I never used to bother but now I wouldn’t even attempt a lead roll end without some heat. I’m interested to know if you are burning you’re internal corners? Is the whole job bossed? You won’t like my way of doing jobs like that. I get rid of all those steps and have one nice long flat substrate and fit a high quality single ply membrane. Costs the customer half the price and we earn double the money. Win win. Dont get me wrong, a nice lead gulley looks great and I’m sure will last a lifetime done well but my goodness it’s a lot of work. Still, no pain, no gain as they say.
The Corner Block is a great idea, but it’ll certainly weaken & thin the Lead in the corner. I’d like to see you use that on Code 8, which is used on Scottish Castles. Nevertheless, a good wee video for the beginners, Roofers & course Cowboys.
Code7 is the thickest lead I’ve used don’t think my back would handle code8😂
@@shaunatkinson694 Code 8 takes a lot of work mate👍👍👍 It’s a joy to Lead Burn👍👍👍
É alumínio e com o que está soldando maçarico se sim qual gás utilizado???
This is code6 lead using a lead strip as the welding rod
It is lead and to heat it is gas mixed with oxygen 😉👍
Nice, Get hold of two of them rubber mallets and cut the face so you got a wedge , Cut 1 horizontal and 1 vertical.
