      Glad it was helpful! My foot straps are a bit loose so I can fall out. Maybe too loose? Actually my rear straps are rigged like a race board upwind strap…. As far apart and loose as possible so I can twist my foot to the right position as needed.

    • @Berowne
      @Berowne 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So it has no hard cam’s, instead an air bladder that needs to be pumped up to help keep the draft shape. Also keeps water out which can add 10kg to modern foil sails while up hauling!

    Would you ever cross the Straights of Florida as an experienced windfoiler? That's a situation in which speed would be important because it's a long enough journey to be exhausting already, and you don't want to be out there longer than you have to given it's a somewhat unpredictable stretch of seas. Do you foil for hours at a time? I want to make the journey but thought it might be worth getting thoughts from someone more experienced. Obviously I would need to put in a lot of practice of my own before attempting it

    • @Berowne
      @Berowne 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Over the last 4-5 years foiling sails have really improved. I used to ride MauiSails for slalom (and modified these with a new clew eyelet) thr. First bought 2x lofts (8&10). I then found a deal on 3 phantom when I wanted to buy a 9… then upgraded some slalom sails to Patrik (5&6) and 7 from loft so had too many different brands. Now I got 9,8,7,6 in CHS, 10 & 5 in Patrick and looking for a 4… nine of these were “bad” sails I’ve lived them all. Loft and Patrik might last a bit longer. Phantom and CHS seem to be built a bit lighter. Patrik long cams are cool.

    Gear used in the video? Pros / Cons worth mentioning?

    • @Berowne
      @Berowne ปีที่แล้ว

      So much gear. So much to say. I like F4 foils and have most of them. Sort of an obsession. Try to use the smallest wing you can fly in the lulls. Or smaller if going for peak speed. Sails they are all good. Foil dedicated sails are almost mandatory for 30 but any slalom sail is good for 25. I don’t own anything with less than 4 cams so can’t comment on these. 91 Board is great for most foils except 420 and below. A 400 or less foil needs less rail pressure so 75 wide is good.

    Thanks for posting this. Lots of ideas here I can try and apply to my attempts to go faster on the foil. Its possibly a minor detail but I'm interested in what fuselage.lengths you're using with your different front wings. I've been working on the assumption a 100 or 105 fuse would be best for speed (less drag) but recently a guy I briefly met said he gets to 30kn using a 115 and that he found 105 too unstable. Any thoughts re fuse length? Cheers

    • @Berowne
      @Berowne ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I prefer 100 fuselage but the iQ team have managed 30+ knot top speeds with 115+ fuselage. For stability try moving the mast back 5mm and see if that was the cause!?!

    • @Berowne
      @Berowne ปีที่แล้ว

      The new 660 is 850 wide, the 620 is 800 wide with deeper and thicker chord by small amounts and subtle different shapes. I think the 620 shape actually supports a 9.0 better on the 100 fuselage but I recently tried the 620 on 115+ and it provided light wind lift on bigger heavy sails I was looking for. What advice can you give me on this? My record is 27.86 knots without a back leash, 192 liter slalom foil 91 starboard, 6.2 sail with three cambers 7 battens (not dedicated to foil), 2.5 degree carbon starboard mast, 105 evo fuselage, 560 front and 200 rear wing -2º to +0.5. I have taken a 5.0 wing with 4 pure slalom cambers, a gun mega XS with 7 battens and 4 cambers that I have not used yet. Give me some advice to reach 30 knots!

      Hi RamFun. Going fast is hard! there are dedicated forums to finding speed and I suggest you get a login for Seabreeze. I’ve put together a list of exciting foil topics here: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Foiling/Foil-Racing-Index-of-All-Technique-Threads And for speed specifically see www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Foiling/F4Foils-Tuning-Tips-Towards-30-knots- The back footstrap can add 2 knots (I went from 20 to 22 just by engaging the back footstrap!). After time on the water the back strap becomes comfortable and even encouraging. I first did 30 knots on F4 337 front wing. Then 420. Then the 560. Get used to foiling at speed so foootstraps and harness at 25 then 27 then 30 will come.
