Background audio was a problem for me too. Buying a decent Dynamic microphone will help the best. If you don’t want to spend money I would record in a closet. Seriously it will help. Headphones can be helpful but I dont use them.

Bummer about the pencil. I’d go for the 13” Air if you can swing it. Or get a used 12.9” Pro if you can find a good deal.

Very good points Mark. You’re probably right that they won’t ever bring the eraser to the Apple Pencil. I’m still just happy to be able to draw on a screen to be honest.

Yes that seems to be what I am hearing now too. This pencil lineup is going to confuse a lot of people. 😂

@@ExpatAnimator It's really too bad as it will probably make many current iPad Pro users more reluctant to upgrade than they would have been if they could keep using the second gen Pencil. It may be that there is something about how the new Pencil features work that required hardware changes on the iPads as well. On the other hand, the USB-C model, which has been out for a while, _does_ work with the new iPads, but it does lack a lot of features, like pressure sensitivity. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Actually, I believe the reason for the incompatibility with Apple Pencil Pro and older iPads Pro _and_ the reason second gen Apple Pencil doesn't work with the new iPads is because of the way it charges and connects to the side of the new iPads. The new iPads have a camera on that side, so the charging elements had to be moved to a different location, making it incompatible with the second gen Pencil. And the Pencil Pro won't work with the older iPads Pro for the same reason, but in reverse. With the USB-C version it's a non-issue since it doesn't charge wirelessly, so that's why _it_ can work with the new iPads.

I think you’re right. It has to be a hardware limitation. Still doesn’t make for a clean line up. I think they should stop selling the original Apple Pencil. Them phase out the 2nd gen pencil over the next year. That would be down to 2 models, the USB-C and the Pro Pencil.

Nice! Yeah they’re a good way to get a lot of storage for cheap as well. Use mine everyday still.

Hmmm. I haven’t tried that trick in a while. Have you tried installing the latest FCP update and do a restart? Those are my first troubleshooting steps.

In newer versions of Rough Animator, you should be able to move the audio left or right on the timeline. If not, try upgrading to a newer version and see if that helps.

Ideally you should build your file with either 24 or 30 fps. Then just animate on twos and that will be like 12 fps!

Yes, rotate would be good for cycles. I usually do these actions in my video editor if I need them. Do you use a video editor along with Rough Animator?

okay so i did some more digging and i found the files of my project! but for some reason.. all my layers disappeared???? ToT please is there any way to fix this? i've been trying to find solutions for the past hour and so D:

Hmmm, not sure exactly how to fix it so move forward at your own risk, but have you tried updating to the latest version? Otherwise try moving the RA file to another computer and see if you can open it up there.

@@ExpatAnimator i'm pretty sure it's the latest version? i also tried moving it to a pc but to no avail all my frames are gone :( this actually happened AGAIN a few days ago, where i was just redrawing the animation i lost then my tablet suddenly crashed then when i came back i couldn't open the project! at this point i might give up on using the app because i'm afraid it'll just keep deleting my progress over and over again.. it's really frustrating D:

Yes, I should start using margins more too but I usually just do key-framing effects in my video editor (FCP). There is potential in RA for some cool effects.

Glad you like it Branick! Yeah, I didn't use it on my first big project but I came up with the idea for it shortly after production. It's not perfect for all projects but it can be helpful.

If it fits your budget, I would get the 15 inch. I don't really use the 12 inch anymore since I got the larger model. It is easier on the eyes and is easier to see the tool palettes.

Yeah, it's probably not fixing my old low resolution animations but I thought it was interesting.

Last I checked Rough Animator still only handles one audio file at a time. I would use a free audio software like Audacity or Garage Band to edit my audio files into one file and then import that file into Rough Animator.

@@ExpatAnimator it's an Lenovo tab M10 HD but it has less RAM the graphic quality during animating is pixelated but when i export it , it again becomes smooth

I’ve been using it since 2002, I think. Never wanted or needed to learn another video editing software for what I do. I do need some plugins though haha.
