Not sure but I think you can connect both watch and airpods.
Whatsapp messages, text messages and instagram notifications are not notified when connected to iphone and the notification settings is already on. Is there a way where these notifications can be received in the watch ?
Not sure about this issue but you can try restarting the watch and try to connect again.
