Yeah she's pretty strong but so far every new 100 cost right now is. Just gotta wait for lightning's next DPS now, because Lucielle makes Seph & Gilgamesh even more op than they were already, that is until Shurecca comes along and replaces her.

@@Thunder_Mage Shurecca looks like she could be pretty strong with her. Those to were the best Seifer team I could find when I was crunching the numbers yesterday.

@@foxtalksgames Yeah I haven't decided if I want to pull Shurecca or not. I at least want to grab the Garuda esper for that juicy unit res pen regardless.

There was less earth when Dialdo came out compared to now. It's because half the elements can't compete atm so there are fewer options to play, and because dark was still the most common back then.

@@Thunder_Mage I'm earth main so not complain. But Ashen King help a lot and 2P/Bradley are still op. Dark, Wind and lightning need next gen unit. Fire will have Sephiroth soon.

My Astrius is in slot 1 so he gets prioritized for party buffs

Yeah I don't want to play whatever just because it's meta. That's not how I do things. Sure, I'll use the best lightning units that are available to me, but if there's no lightning in my team then there's really no point for me to play. And I skipped a lot of the recent stuff because I don't have A2's VC anyway, so even if I grabbed Jeume and Cloud my team wouldn't be as strong as other people's. It would frankly be a waste of vis for me right now. I'm fully prepared to not do great in this week's quick pick (and possibly next month's class match as well). I'm recording to give people and my guildmates something to watch, and I don't want anyone to think I ragequit or took a break from uploading just because of the current meta.

@@Mr6646334 A long, long time ago I decided if I was going to have a favorite element then I'm gonna go all the way with it and treat it like a religion. So whenever I play a game that has the option to play as or main a lightning-themed character (and/or a mage), I will always try to do that at least on my first playthrough. The biggest influence for me as a kid was how in Pokemon gym leaders and elite four members always specialize in a single type, I admired the dedication. My favorite legendary was Raikou so I went with electric.

@@Thunder_Mage This is very interesting :) This logic does hinder you from getting inot top gvg play where meta units/teams are required. I am in a top 5 guild, so I need to navigate between my personal preferences and guild's requirements. But as long as the approach makes the game fun for you, this is the perfect way to handle it.

I had to double check Astrius's second item but it's Esther's sword and Pod 153, the unit res one. I like to run at least a little extra accuracy on him just to prevent the off chance of missing attacks he shouldn't. I think it's better to have Esther's VC in the sub slot so Squall's can be in a main slot for this team, since WRaph's card also gives HP.

Well he's been out for longer in JP compared to global, so it's not unexpected he would start to fall off sooner.

If you went lightning against strike, 2P should have given you a hard time. Top 100 is very one-dimensional now with different combinations of Earth, Ice and Water. Some light, too.

@@Mr6646334 Yeah I've fought rainbow fist teams with 2P using mono lightning. I gear for accuracy in this mode so sometimes I win, sometimes I don't.

I took off Slime's bow tie before the match and it fucked up my turn 1, so who knows if I would've won otherwise

Astrius is in slot 1 so he gets targeted for buff priority. It works kind of like hate unless there is an actual tank on the team.

Alaya and WRaph have 83 reincarnations and Astrius has I think 52 or 56. The former two were holding Alex Rings and Astrius had the Unit Res Pod. My VCs were WRaph's, FF13 Lightning's, and MR Sanctum Assasins for Unit Res.

I queued pretty much immediately as CM began this afternoon, it's not surprising that folks from that guild would also want to begin the day's matches as soon as they are able.

I must really suck ass then for all the times I've lost to Helena while using Winter Raph in the current limited guild battle map and class match this week

@@Thunder_Mage My W Raph has 1v1 Helena many times. W Raph is 70 cost btw. Helena is a top 3 100 cost unit. But W Raphs buffs sure AF are not 70 cost. Neither are her stats. In every fight, a Lightning team goes into it with bigger buffs, more speed, better reactions, better Esper roster, better weapons, better job vc synergy, better status effects... this is just a fact. Everyone else in the game has ST/AOE team buffs for 15-20. Lightning element gets 25-30. They get 25-30 for no reason whatsoever other than being Gumi favorite.

@@cedj4504 I agree that WRaph+Alaya+Astrius is an insanely strong team. I would like for the other elements to get similarly powerful comps that can all consistently beat Helena, because I'm tired of seeing her lol.

I would presume people aren't beating Helena Vivi with fire as consistently as they would like. The reason people weren't picking earth against me is because they expected me to pick wind. I did pick wind in the 4th match and got punished for it.

I think light and dark are more cancer 😊

@@Thunder_Mage they are too, but Lightning can easily kill any element including Earth

@@diegoa.679 I agree that it can kill bad earth players hehe There have been times when a good water player could beat bad lightning as well, such as SGlaci vs mono physical without Astrius

@@diegoa.679 Yeah I didn't think you were. Powercreep has been a bitch, we're just in a waiting room right now for the other elements to catch up.

If you have Squall's VC from the FF8 collab, Esther's isn't as necessary for mono lightning. But if you're running at least one slashing DPS on your team, then I highly recommend getting Esther's card for the 35 slash pen on the party effect.

Oh, sure. Yeah I can include the pick phase if you want. The reason I stopped after the first vid this week is because it's just more cutting for me and I forgot to remove the loading screen for one my matches then.

@@Thunder_Mage yeah pick phase is a really important part -- a lot of the time the match is already decided by the pick phase.

Alaya has 50 innate stun res and all 3 of them are running a truststone passive, so I must have gotten lucky. Not that it would have mattered since Alaya was going to lap Vivi anyway.
