Low light easy care houseplants. Plant room walk through
Excellent tutorial
@@Peace. awe! Thank you! 🪴
Oh my goodness! I just bought a monstera at a big box store and it was beautiful in the store. I picked this particular plant because it had a beg new leaf that was a nice lime green. Our temperature here today is 10 degrees Fahrenheit. I put the plant on the floor of my car in the back seat and went to another store to do some food shopping. Big mistake. I got home and took the plant out of the car and the new, baby leaf is now droopy and turning brown. I came on here to learn how to properly prune this leaf off as I have never had a monstera. I hope the plant survives. I think the other leaves look ok but time will tell. Thank you for this video.

My monstera leaves are turning black starting on the edges and moving in, and are soft. Then turning yellow. Someone said I may be underwatering, but I'm wondering if it's too much light? I've had it several feet from a north facing window, though, so...? Any help appreciated.
@@bennettcheryll sounds like too much water and not enough light. North windows in the northern hemisphere is considered very low to no light. Monsteras generally want a bright indirect light (east or west facing) or a few feet from a southern exposure. Plants in super low light use much less water than when they are getting light. Soft brown edges are a sign of too much water / root rot.
@@karenpast thank you. So confused; the local nursery said it was probably under-watered. :( It does feel dry when I check the soil. Poor plant...
Hi Karen. Thank you for this clear instruction on how to prune a Monstera plant. Hoping your plants survived the heat after some TLC.
Just in time! My monstera got some damage and I now know what to do! ❤
@@silviad1816 glad it was helpful!
I am so glad for this video! My monstera has black floppy leaves and i need to trim them, but some of the ones i need to trim dont have the nub of the new leaf, would i be ok to just cut about 6 inches above the leaf split?
@@TB-nf8ug to be safe, just cut where the black leaf meets the stem. It will look funny for a bit with bare stems sticking up, but once the next leaf starts popping up out of that stem, you have a better idea where to cut. Then you won’t risk cutting the new leaf that will emerge.
Great tip thanks
Thanks for sharing ❤

I'd watch except you filmed vertical where 3/4 of the video is black,
Sorry about that! I’m obviously not a professional TH-camr. 😂 just a small garden center owner trying to get some simple info out for folks. 😊 I’m sure there’s tons of real plant-tubers out there with great monstera pruning footage.

Hello! Do you have any linearis still in stock?
Hugely helpful, thabj you
Thank you!! I had to move my big plant closer to my heater vent over the winter because of new furniture and some of the leaves got soooo crispy. I just pruned her up and she’s looking gorgeous again! Question - can those burnt leaves you just cut off be propagated? Or does it need to be cut below the new leaf uterus (this is what I’ve decided to call it) in order to root?
Hi! First off.. I love the term leaf uterus!! 😂 The leaves of monstera won’t root without a node. So basically you need to cut the stem below where the leaf is growing off the stem to propagate.
Thank for ur share. Its really heplfull
Thank you for sharing…a few of my monstera leaves were sunburned and this was helpful
Hello i am from india.... Can you make video in which you show...... From where cut the damage leaf (burn, black spot) so that new leaf could grow..... Please reply.....
Thank you for this video. I’m going to have to prune my plant later today, and your video was quite helpful.
Thank you SO MUCH! I was searching for a clear, simple tutorial and this was exactly it.
Glad it helped!
Omg thank you for getting straight to the point but still including important details ❤️
Great info. My Monsterda is very leggy. How do I make it bushy like the one shown in this video?? And how do I keep it short
Thankyou
how do you propagate if I can't find any nodes on my monstera? Mine somehow looks like this, when one stem comes out from another but no nodes.
Is it okay to cut the littlest ones (probably the first leaves) all the way to the soil if the stems get broken from kids/husbands moving/running into it etc? 😬
Thanks for this! ❤️
You're so welcome! 🪴
The alocasia that you showed right before the ficus shivereana you never said the name

Thank you for sharing your knowledge!❤️ This is exactly what I need, and what I’ve been looking for! Now off I go to saving my monteras! 😁

Beautiful selections! We live 2 hours away & will be in your area this summer. Cannot wait to go to your store!! Drool drool drool .....😊
Great video. First, Karen, you're priceless ($21.99 😅). Secondly, that's right, nobody told me there's not enough room. 😂 I hope to see you guys soon.
I couldn’t believe it when I saw this last night I had to run out there this morning & get that Pseudorhipsalis amazonica I have been wanting one for YEARS‼️ I can’t wait to see it bloom 😍🤩🙏🏼
I’m so glad you scooped it up!!! It almost came home with me! What a beaut! We all want updates!
Beautiful plants❤❤❤
I think this is why my monstera has gotten so leggy, I’ve been cutting off future growth when pruning so it now has ALOT of gaps. It’s putting out new leaves weekly, usually 2-4 at a time & it’s color is good so hopefully if I just follow these tips going forward it will bush out! Thank you for sharing this! 🪴💚
FINALLY after 30 min of searching the internet I found your very clear and concise video! It’s insane how hard it is just to find actually clear instructions about where the growth nodes actually are and where exactly you should cut in relation to them. Thank you so so much!!
So glad it was helpful! 🪴
Me as well, I just started becoming a plant parent and I saw a very damaged monstera at a nursery they gave it to me but I don’t want to kill it, so now the healing can begin! Thanks much!
I agree ❤
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed.
So glad I could help! 🪴
Great video. I have a question. On my plant the newest leaf was damaged and fell off, so there are no new nodes for a new leaf to come out of. Is there a chance new leaves can grow from somewhere else?
Unfortunately new growth will only come from a node. Was it only a 1 leaf cutting? Or are there older leaves below? There are nodes where the petiole (what holds the leaf up) meets the stem. So if it had older leaves, new growth would come from the stem where the next leaf down is. Plants have a will to survive so if you lost the top growth, it will activate another growth point further down the stem. I hope that makes sense.
@@karenpast thanks Karen. The plant was dehydrated so the new leaf basically died. Unfortunately like the plant in the video some of the other plants were sunburnt but otherwise the rest of the plant is ok
This was great and helpful. Thank you 😊
Glad it was helpful! 🪴
Thank you! Great video!

Thanks, so much, for this! I think I can prune and propagate my monstera with more confidence now.
