Rox Davidson, Mezzo-Soprano Laura Benevides, Piano 29 September 2024 Text Yes, dear soul, you know That I’m in torment far from you, Love makes hearts sick - Be thanked. Once, revelling in freedom, I held the amethyst cup aloft And you blessed that draught - Be thanked. And you banished the evil spirits, Till I, as never before, Holy, sank holy upon your heart - Be thanked.

Rox Davidson, Mezzo-Soprano Laura Benevides, Piano 29 Sept 2024 Text Thy hand, Belinda, darkness shades me, On thy bosom let me rest, More I would, but Death invades me; Death is now a welcome guest. When I am laid, am laid in earth, May my wrongs create No trouble, no trouble in thy breast; Remember me, remember me, but ah! forget my fate. Remember me, but ah! forget my fate.

Rox Davidson and Laura Benevides perform 'The Crucifixion' by Samuel Barber Lyrics: At the cry of the first bird They began to crucify Thee, O Swan! Never shall lament cease because of that. It was like the parting of day from night. Ah, sore was the suffering borne By the body of Mary's Son, But sorer still to Him was the grief Which for His sake Came upon His Mother.

This was such a moving experience. You assumed the character and sang beautifully even thought it has been a tough week for you. Proud of you beyond words.
Brava!!! 🎉
Beautiful!
Bravo to teacher and student ❤️
Absolutely beautiful!!! What a divinely uplifting song, and you all did an incredible job!!
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Amazing!
Que lindo meu Deus ❤
Why didn't they just sing the entire song in the correct key... she sang the first 2 lines an octave higher and then switched to the correct key... what was the purpose of that? You would get more of a dramatic effect with the contrasting keys... that was a dumb idea!!!
sublime, beautiful, BRAVO!
Talented I ❤
Bravo! This is phenomenal ❤🎵
Beautiful!
Amen and Amen.
Wow, both songs were well sung. Well done to the choir 🙏🏽🥰
It’s been a honor at NSA. This was the first song I feel in love with Freshmen year
Chills…literal chills🥶
👏👏👏
One of my all time favorite ssaa songs
This was absolute perfection I loved it so much
After seeing a ton of people try Micheal Barrett's arrangements and miss the mark completely, I was ready to be disappointed but you all surprised me in the best way. As a Mosotho woman (the language the song is in is Sesotho), this song means SO MUCH to our culture and I was very pleased to hear you all sing the words beautifully and gracefully. Thank you for this 🤩🤩🤩
I'm so glad to hear that! We actually got to talk with Micheal Barrett, he sent us videos along with a native Sesotho speaker in his choir on the proper pronunciation and movements. It was such an incredible experience! Truly a wonderful piece.
@@roxdavidson All that extra prep paid off beautifully ❤😊
Cool & Good Performance! Great harmony!
fantastic!!! I'm so proud of you all, and I miss you lots <333!!!
We miss you too!!
I did this song for my chorus concert and in my opinion, I didn’t like cutting the “wading through muddy waters” part short. I feel like it deserves to be long and to let the first harmonies of the song ring through the audience’s ears.
they did great 😍😍👍👍
Why is a majority white choir even singing this song?! Lmao there is literally a pale ass ginger singing about leading her “People” to freedom from slavery, girl there are no chains on gingers. Yet…anyway I’m white as hell and I understand that SOME THINGS ARE NOT FOR US. This is embarrassing for the whole damn state.
THANK YOU! 😂😂 like y’all ancestors were not enslaved why tf are y’all singing a negro spiritual song ? They can’t help themselves
Don't know how to feel honestly glad the black girl singing but damn
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KOE SO BRANCO KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I’m not going to say they did bad because they didn’t. It’s just sad to know nobody’s ancestors in the choir fought for salvation then they changed the song up a lot.
And would you know that? Maybe the white ones didn’t but the black ones sure did!
@@PamRam228 yeah maybe
It was dry, no seasoning.
Is this a joke🤔 listen they could have did something else this is sad😔
what
It's disturbing
@@dolorescheatom1663 how?????
I love this, thank you for this experience.
First soloists voice is so beautiful. Omg.
It took me awhile to figure out you were all wearing masks! Absolutely beautiful you all 😭😭😭❤️
Beautiful job trebles! Gorgeous and so musical. Wonderful job preparing these students Trey!
Bravo!!!
Excellent!!!
Beautiful
Y’all couldn’t find two black soloists instead? Y’all really gave a descendant of a slave master the solo to a song about slavery? Whoever thought that was a good idea deserves to go to HELL.
lol what if the girl was like of hispanic or swedish descent? you have know idea who that girl is 😂
@@abidabichan the song is about BLACK SLAVES finding freedom in the USA. I don’t need to know what her background is. She’s not black. She shouldn’t be singing. Now get tf out of my mentions yeast yettie.
@@BT5PavedTheWay lmao you’re the one that labeled her a “descendant of a slave master” so stop trying to make yourself sound any better💀😂
@@abidabichan who said I was trying to be better? I live to be a menace to you yeast yettie demons.
damn did you know that being white doesnt mean youre a descendant of a slave master
Please take those *dam masks* off!!!!! You are *not slaves* anymore!!!!! 😡 *YOU GUYS ARE DIVINE BEINGS!!* ♥️
Why the mask while singing tho?
This was while COVID was still sweeping through TN, especially Nashville. Just a safety thing😊
Dude the black girl sounds angelic like wth
Que força incrível!
Me arrepiei toda , maravilhosos , eu canto em coro coral , e perfeito isso
