The background historical/social context and just maaaaybe THE CONTEXT OF WHO IS SAYING IT.?! When you have such a large/impressionable audience and thus a significant level of influence you should really try to stick to what you actually know and genuinely fully understand. Unfortunately for him that seems to begin and end with basketball. But if you look at the history of it, and what it was used to do, what it it meant to these white people, and how they got other races of people to also adopt the word to describe black people and also how our ancestors used the word in derogatory and not so derogatory ways, then you'll understand why we get upset when other people use it. White people have lost the privilege of saying it regardless of co text while in the presence of black people, period. And other races have to use it sparingly as well especially if they have prejudice view of black people as a whole like some of your traditional Asians, Latinos, and South East Indians. Let's not act like we don't understand why there's a boundary in the 2 1st place. You should be wondering why everyone is hard pressed on them being able to say it too? Why is that such a big deal for them?
