Dr Pool , I took your recommendation and choosing Dr White for robotic surgery since you are not working in my area anymore. So I had the aortic valve replaced with a cow valve. Surgery was done at Baylor Scott & White in Plano Tx February 16 th last year. You said you had trained Dr White . So yes he did an excellent job. I am 75 years and back to doing life fully with only a tiny incision mark by my right breast-- barely visible. On no prescription medication and grateful for your advice.

My EF is 70%. I’m wondering why you say that’s not good. I won’t have another echocardiogram and doctor visit for three months so I will ask him the next time I see him. I have HOCM and I’m on Camzyos 5mg. I’m on my 5th month and have seen great improvement over all.

Texjoy56, thanks for your comment. I would say your EF of 70% is good. Congrats! I probably oversimplified things a bit in the video. The improvements you've seen over the past 5 months in combination with an EF >55% indicate that your heart is doing great!

Diamondgrils6541, thanks for your comment. 82% is a very high EF, as in, I'm not sure I've seen one that high. Not impossible, of course, but could the result be an error of some sort?

In 2019 I was diagnosed with atrial flutter and had an ablation in 2021 with covid lockdown in between. I never really noticed anything 3:06 different with my heart! Also, I regularly attend gym classes but in 2023 I noticed more fatigue and muscle tightness during exercise that hadn’t bothered me before. I had an ECG and Echocardiogram that showed my heart as normal with an EF of 65%. This was at resting heart rate but my issues were caused during exercise with a raised heat rate. However this year in 2024, April I was diagnosed with covid and stubborn chest infection that was eventually stopped with 2 different types of antibiotics. Also I was diagnosed in June with atrial fibrillation after a BNP blood test, ECG and Echocardiogram that showed my EF had dropped 3:06 to 40%. I now felt the detrimental effects of atrial fibrillation especially walking up hills with my 🐶🐶. That caused me extreme fatigue and breathlessness quickly, causing me to stop, continually. I had another ablation in September this year 2024; done more quickly because I was in permanent AF and the longer I leave it the more damage to my heart. I am also on low dose blood thinner, beta blocker and blood pressure, drugs. I have had a follow up ECG and showed the ablation worked well. I have another follow up next year and Echocardiogram; so will I return to normal with an EF of 65%? Last time I walked up a hill with my 🐶🐶 I could do it without stopping 👍 What caused my EF to drop from 65% to 40% in the space of about 6 months? Thanks 🙏

46yr old - My LVEF went from 53% to 46% in a year but I have a bicuspid aortic valve that has moderate regurgitation. I'm curious how much further the LVEF has to lower before I'm considered for a valve replacement? I also have an aortic root of 4.2.

People who say stuff like this clearly forget personal experiences exist, if you tell your kids they smart the they start slacking on studying their grades will go down and kids will pick up on the fact they did better when studying. There are some exceptions to this rule for example I was on a culinary (cooking) course, I barely studied for a single written exam but I passed all first time despite falling the practise exams this is likely in part because of me remembering from the lessons. However it is important to study.

Took me 22 months. My biggest issue was hypersensitivity of my chest skin. Weight of a feather HURT. 23 months after bypass I had a freaking heart attack. Still getting well from that. On the bypass: 2 of the 3 have become blocked again. 1 doc says don't worry about it, 1 says I'm a dead man walking and 1 says new veins will grow around the occluded arteries.I say God will decide. I'm 63 now.

The worst part is the varieties of pain as well as numbness in the wrist/hand and leg from the incisions. The surgeon must have cut into the nerves and tendons. There was very little pain in my chest from the operation. The only time I felt chest pain is when coughing or sneezing.

It's been less than 2 months since I had open heart surgery in which my Ascending aorta and aortic valve were replaced. My surgery was on 3/29 and I went home on April 1st (less than 4 days in hospital). 9 days after surgery I walked my first mile outside. I'm currently up to 5 miles a day at 4 mph. It took about 5 weeks to get back to the speed I was walking at prior to surgery. 14 days after surgery I was allowed to drive again. I currently only have a weight restriction of 15lbs till 12 weeks have passed (each surgeon has different timeframes on that one).

Took about 18 months for me to recover. Widow maker and 2 other arteries were from 75% to 90% blocked with other little blocks in other places. Was getting weaker and weaker and could not breathe good. I had to have triple bypass and did not feel right for about this 18 month length of time. Did not even get my confidence back for about 6 to 9 months. EF went up from 30% up to 45% in this length of time as the heart cells that were dormant and starved for blood came back to life again and then I started to feel like a human again. I could breathe and sleep without being propped up on 2 or 3 pillows again. Now I have to keep my EF from going down again with 4 to 5 different drugs and keep busy walking, working at my hobbies or something, going shopping at places like Walmart and watch my eating and salt as much as possible. Fingers crossed and hope to see another 10 years, but whatever it is Im going to relish every minute of the time I got left.!
