    How to turn off the jetvac without turn off the filtering

  • @danielkarner1410
    @danielkarner1410 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    We've had our jet-vac for over 30 years. So, it's very well made. What should be noted is that this system is not energy efficient (we're just waking up to this issue). It is powered by water, which requires a dedicated pump. Ours uses a 3/4 HP booster pump running off 110V alternating current. This booster pump requires the pool filter pump (also 3/4 HP) to be operating at the same time. If you do the math, each of these pumps requires 800 watts of electricity (1600 W total). So if you run both of these pumps for three hours per day, that's roughly 5 kWh of electricity every day (150 kWh/month). For us, that's a quarter of our household's electricity use. In 2024 California, PG&E retail rates are around $0.50-$0.64 per kWh, so the Jet-vac and pool filter cost $75-$100 per month to operate. This doesn't include heating the pool, if you're into that.

    I've had mine for 23 years and still works great. The large bag is great for cleanup after storms and the fall leaf drop. I've probably replaced the entire unit over the years through replacing different parts from time to time but that would be true of any pool sweeper. To the other guys posting their issues on here: if your unit won't climb into the shallow end it's because the jet pushing it around is either partially clogged or the water pressure to the unit is too low. Check the side wall water restricter to the hose and check the jet nozzle on the unit; the other problem when it won't back up means the internal gears are not working properly so you have to take it apart and check that they are rotating freely.- easy peasy.

    DEAR MAYTRONICS CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ ABOUT THEIR SERVICING AND PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE SCAM LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE: Maytronics will not sell you the carbon brushes for the main DC pump motor of their robots. This means that as a consumer you CANNOT prevent the main pump motor from failing after a few years. A carbon brush is a $10 consumable part to keep a DC motor running. This means that when you pay for a “service” they do not exercise due diligence and replace the carbon brushes while inside the control box. This means that after a few years the robot will cease working no matter what you do. THEY WILL however sell you an entire new motor, or an entire new robot... Buyer beware. You can buy brushes for your ryobi angle grinder, your Makita drop saw, your cars internal blower fan, you can buy them from the manufacturer for just about ANY dc motor, but Maytronics refuse to sell the brushes, and will only sell (via the service reps) you the diagnostics fee, an entire new motor and replacement costs. Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Please ask why these were not replaced ANY time your robot is serviced. Absolutely DISGUSTING business practice. If this isn’t planned obsolescence then what is!? They will also make excuses that their system is modular unlike the competition somehow justifying this scam. They are happy to sell you an entire new robot for 2.5k, or the entire assembly, when a $10 consumable part would very likely keep the motor going and irrespective should be available for sale via the service reps and should be replaced ANY time the motor box is opened for paying customers.

    I have been using this for my 16x24 pool and it does an amazing job Cleans and scrubs the floor and walls. I had a ton of landscaping recently done in the backyard which littered the pool with leaves and dirt. The Dolphin cleaned EVERYTHING in one 3 hour cycle. If you are considering spending twice the money I doubt you will get better results because this cleaner already gets to everything.

    Hi What's the normal expected life span of one of these cells if cleaned periodically? Generally speaking...

    • @thebufferzone5404
      @thebufferzone5404 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If ran for an average of 8 hours a day you'd expect it to last 3-5 years. Be careful if you are cleaning the cell with any acid mix because if that acid is too highly concentrated, it can shorten the life of the cell.

    Parts not expensive? I have had my AX10 for 20 months and it needs a new tune up kit @ $120. $120 every 2 years is not cheap.

    • @thebufferzone5404
      @thebufferzone5404 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tatsu35. I agree that $120 is not ideal but the tune up kit replaces most of the internals of the AX10 and should rejuvenate the cleaner nicely. Considering the total cost of the cleaner, $120 is not bad. Saying that, I would expect that would only need to be done every 3-4 years, not after 20 months. Have you spoken to the person that you bought it off about warranty? Those cleaners come with a 2 year warranty (at least within Australia they do) and if it is just worn down, you may be entitled to a warranty claim.

    • @tatsu35
      @tatsu35 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thebufferzone5404 Yes I spoke to them but they just said that they are wearable parts so not covered by warranty. Another pool shop who I have had around to do repairs to my pump advised that it's normal to need a tune up kit every 2 years and that is why their shop stopped selling them.

    I discovered that mine wasn't running and displaying a high temperature error. I switched it back on and it briefly ran before switching off again. Now it doesn't even switch on anymore. It was 6.5 years old so difficult to say whether it was due to an electrical issue, being water starved, exposed to sun or a combination of any of the aforementioned.

      In the case of this site where I shot the review, it definitely did the steps except for the top one (too shallow). It should cover the steps in most pools but it really depends on the physical design of the pool so there are no guarantees I guess

    I gave up on this review after nearly 3 minutes and nothing more than repetitive yap on warranty. Here's the thing Mr Buffer, no one wants to exercise a warranty because it means there is a problem. It means down time and somewhere along the road it means hidden costs be it fuel costs for a trip to the post office and suitable packaging to contain unit. In other words wasted time and money. Zodiac would be better producing a rock solid device. Maybe a 3 year warranty is in response to user concerns that Zodiac do not make a good product. I wrote to Zodiac quite a few years ago now complaining that the on-board NiCad battery was 1980s technology where a battery will leak and destroy the circuit around it just as they did for many, many thousands of PC motherboards of the time. I suggested a simple fix but got no reply or acknowledgement from Zodiac which in itself tells me a story on how the company deal with . . . "issues". I surmised that Zodiac possibly on purpose built in a fault that would ensure customers would have to update/buy again when the battery shit itself and took out the circuit board on the TRI-M-22 unit. Luckily for me I JUST caught the issue in time and replaced the NiCad with a dry cell pack. I couldn't give a frogs fat arse that Zodiac couldn't be bothered answering me and honestly just remembered that incident. Otherwise the unit is reliable and does what it is supposed to and I know I got extra years from it by altering the backup power circuit (battery)

    I have that exact same model. It’s a total worthless piece of crap! It jams itself ALL the time. The reverse only works as intended in about half the situations. I have to run it only while I’m home. In the past, it has got itself stuck on the pool stairs, and shot water across my backyard, wasting hundreds of gallons. Not a good product.

      In the Cloud Mike!! Haha Buffer Zone is not a pool maintenance company so can't help you with your swimming pool if that's what you are after. We do have a pool maintenance company but keeping them separate to Buffer Zone and just trying to share some knowledge on here. If you are in Australia then I always recommend that if you are looking for a maintenance company then visit SPASA.org.au They have a search engine on there to find registered SPASA members. Try and pick one who is licenced (although that is not always a guarantee of quality). Good luck and thanks for swinging by! Visit www.thebufferzone.com.au for more videos

    I have an AX10 and it works for about 5 minutes and then just stops. It only operates on boost on my energy efficient pump. When I take it out to see if its blocked it is not. When it does work it does a good job but have found it to be very frustrating.

      Hi Jo, If the flowrate going through the cleaner is good and it is installed correctly (very important that it is!) then it might be worth talking to your supplier about a possible warranty call-out

    • @sasvee
      @sasvee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine did the same, it would run a few mins and then stop, the filter basket showed that the pump was sucking air. The problem was solved by putting fresh sand in. The steps that works is to let the pump start up to bleed itself, then switch it off (making sure that all air is bled form the cleaner pipes) then connect it and it runs perfect every time and cleans the pool well.

    • @msjayhem6772
      @msjayhem6772 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was a very simple fix for me. The duflacky that sits on top of the filter basket and connects to the suction hose was not sitting correctly. I think you call this operator error! Once seated properly it worked fine and still going strong. 😁

    I bought my house 2.5 years ago and the pool had this chlorinator and the p320 viron pump, the pump always ran at a constant high speed which I never thought to investigate further..... until the pump stopped working and needed replacing, I have just installed the new p320 viron and noticed this one runs flat out in high speed constantly too, how do I make it run more energy efficiently/slower?

    • @thebufferzone5404
      @thebufferzone5404 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tillsy23 If you watch the review on the P320 it gives you a bit of an indication of how it works and how it can benefit you. The person who installed it for you probably knows the system best though and they should really talk you through it. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/9f66SAqeSq4/w-d-xo.html
