Australian Travels and Adventures, join Doug to explore the spectacular places in Australia
Hi, my name is Doug Taylor and my love for travelling Australia dates back some 40+ years. It was in 1979 when the bug originally bit me after purchasing my first 4wd. Quickly fitting out the vehicle with all the necessities, I was off on my inaugural adventure to Central Australia - Little did I know then, how this would change my life forever. Being a competent photographer was another way of documenting all my travels, but this quickly turned into Film Making, hence 'Taylor Productions' was formed with many documentaries, advertising and corporate productions to follow and later as film was phased out, changing to video. Fast track to now and WOW has the medium of video changed in the last few years. I now know, after travelling nearly all the corners of Oz and at the ripe old age of 'I don't want to say' the bug will never leave me!
Come along and join me for my next adventure

Great vlog , 👍 As for no such thing as free camping, well unfortunately that's because you have 5% of the community who stuff it up for everyone else. Leaving rubbish 🗑 etc . Nothing is for free anymore , here in Australia 🇦🇺 we will be charged clean air tax next 😅
Spot on mate
Do you know what Steve's entire rig cost????
Not exactly sure but from some research I’ve done about a similar rig I would estimate around $500k
Brilliant... absolutely 💯 😊❤
Thank you…. You’re too kind 😃😃👍
Please tell the rest of the world
Lovely ep and spots guys
Thank you, appreciate your comments 😃👍
Awesome video 😊 amazing Country hey 👏 well done. Fantastic tips you give out.
Thanks so much for your kind words 👍
Very handy for a lefty! 😅 Very informative too 👍
😂😂
That Sikaflex is not silicone, it's a urethane. Different stuff.
These videos are just perfect even with your injury and I hope you get better soon
Thanks so much for your kind words and wishes
Thanks for video. I only just received my. Anti flap kit. The instructions it came with are so poor. I have same awning as you, but on van side I need paddles to sit on shock absorber to fit mine. I have only set the kit up but haven’t installed on my awning as yet. I like the Velcro idea. I was asking seller how do I fit at that end, but you explained with Velcro good, thanks
Great ideas for my Fiamma awning. Can you tell me about the fitting on bottom of tent pole. Did you make it or buy it ?
I had it made by a handy mate who can weld better than me.. Before I had that made I simply drilled a 8mm hole at the bottom of the pole and pegged it down this way which worked fine
thank you so much , i’m new to motor homing in the uk , youv cut through all the sales nonsense , still trying to figure out side panels , but great thank you
Glad I could be of help.. I know what it was like when I was trying to sort my awning, hence why I made the video 😃👍
Dry baron and useless
Love your videos do you remember me I was at the Birdsville caravan park and we watched the Birdsville big red bash on your tv
Thanks so much. Yes I sure do remember you
Great video guys, thank you.
What a magic place. Great video Doug Absolutely 💯 😊
Thanks so much, I thought you’d like it
Nice suggestion. the welded angles are to the elite only, the guys that have a welder. A simple wooden bracket does the job equally well. I need to combine your loader with a dolly as I can't do what you do: carry the motor from the transom to the loader. Your video inspired me to do a little thinking of how to attach your loader board to a wheeled assembly. Good job.
Wonderful production. Very informative and interesting. Would love to see some more info on total kilometres travelled on track and start and finish time. Really enjoyed watching.
Many thanks for your comments and feedback.. Willow Waters approx 17klm, (4 hours) Willow Springs 80kln (full day) and Farina 25klm (6hrs) this allows for time ‘to smell the roses’ so to say
That is most helpful. Thank you so much. We are in the Flinders from 24th August for 7 nights and we will be at Willow Springs for 3 nights. Skytrek is very much on our agenda.
Doug glad you are having a great time I’m a little jealous. Still looking at a signature iridium 15 so maybe next we might tag along
Hope you had your timber collection permit I'd guess not.
We didn’t collect any timber in the national park
wow great drone flying!!
13:30 awesome ranges montage
Nice 😊
Thanks Cath,,,, stayed tuned for my next video…. It’s one of my top 5 camp spots in Australia
Im looking forward to that. Picking a Top 5 wouldn't be an easy task. @@ConceptAdventures
I start editing on Tuesday but Thursday could bring me to a grinding halt, particularly being my left hand - we shall see 🤞
Can we use aluminium poles (rather than the steel tent poles) - trying to recycle some of our tent gear?
Yep should be fine as long as the clamping lock on the poles are strong so it doesn’t collapse
fantastic. subscribed, you deserve many more.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate your comments
Very well done Duggie ... 👏 YP & EP both have some gorgeous coastal scenery and your drone work is coming along beautifully 😊
Thanks so much Cathy, I loved the 2 peninsulas, both spectacular and different in their own ways.. I’m hoping to be back later this year to do a dedicated doco on one of the segments I briefed over 🤞🤞
Great video , how is the gladiator force going ? looks fantastic
Thanks Dave - yep Gladiators going pretty good so far just survived the trip up the Birdsville Track - even though the microwave came adrift
Thank goodness. The velcro strap is our answer. Thank you so much
Great stuff. Thanks. Banana cake !
Awesome motor loader mate would love to see how your whole setup works looking at setting mine up now
Thanks for your comments. When say ‘whole setup’ works… are you referring to the loader?
@@ConceptAdventures yes you boat loader and boat it sell how you have it set up when in use
This gadget is very impressive but not as impressive as you picking up that 15 yammy and carrying it to the truck. Good on ya mate!
Thanks for your reply and yes I sure did have to put on a special face when lifting the yammy… it seems to get heavier every time I lift it out 🤣
I thought exactly the same. Most 15 hp are about 45kg, but what makes them awkward is the weight is all up the top 😀
This comment comes long after your travels, however, thanks for your informative recount of travel adventures in such a nice part of our land. Nice videoing Dougie. I’m also sure everyone played their parts in keeping the happy vibes flowing. To top it all off, Music in the Mulga looks like a fun festival to visit. Your trip has inspired me! 🙏👍
Many thanks Barry and yes it’s a great event 😃
Super simple and works well. Thanks for the idea.
The problem is that box awnings are for shade only. Not for rain or wind conditions. Of all the designs, Fiamma is probably the better, but they are really not fit for purpose if your purpose is an all-weather awning. All you need is an AFK and tie down straps. You dont need extra poles and holes. Also Peggy Peg make a foot support which the foot at the bottom of the poles fit into. No need for modification.
never use ratchet straps they apply too much force, use only cam buckle or double D ring straps, much safer and many people don't know how to use ratchet straps properly anyway. also if you put a twist in the straps it will stop that annoying buzzing sound when the wind picks up, you know the one that sound like crocodile Dundee making a telephone call.
Hi that is exactly what I have set up same van and all how ever 1 end works perfectly but the other doesn't when u slide the grass hopper on to the plastic lip there's not enough material from awning to clamp down. It's like it's to far from edge of awning so when you close the clamps on AFK it doesn't hold any suggestions would be very appreciated been away 4 times and can't get that end to clamp ??? Thanks
Hi there… if I understand what you’re saying, it could be a little like mine…. On one of my ends it’s like the awning vinyl has not. Web cut straight or put in not perfectly square - however yours sounds a bit worse than mine - at least mine clamps pretty much ok…..if I’ve got it right about yours I’d be putting in a warranty claim
Thank you I wondered that see how I go with that
I thought the same the first time I used the AFK. I found though, I was using an 'outer' piece on the awning frame to slide the Grasshopper onto... wrong one, the proper slide on bit is inside the one I thought it was... if that makes sense. Then perfect.
thank you for explaining it in simple terms and making it look so easy!
That’s my van, almost!
Hooray finally a straight talker with great results
Hello. I'm about to buy a 4 stroke Mercury 9.9hp. I always understood that for transport an outboard should be laid on its appropriate side. Is it all right to transport a motor like this then?
Mate thanks for your comments, I’m pretty sure it is as I’ve seen others locating their 4 stokes exactly like mine, but a simple phone to a dealer would definitely confirm this
yes it is absolutely correct. Take a look at your manual where they tell you which sides are ok. Typically the only side that should not be used is the one with prop down. if you lost your manual you will easily find it online. nowadays they have sophisticated search tools for internet use.
Beautiful place
This video brings back fond memories of my time on those routes. First went to these ranges in 1973 & fell in love with them & went back many times .
Hey Douggie! Good to see you got back on the road & found your way to "Gods Country"! Don't forget Yorke Peninsula has some beautiful places to film. Love the videos, good job! Safe travels! 😊
Hi Cathy, thanks for your kind words and great to hear from you. Yes it sure is Gods country.. I was supposed to head off yesterday for the Mighty Murray, but the dreaded heatwaves has made me hold back until??? And no I definitely haven’t forgotten about the York, as a matter of fact it’s extremely high on my ‘to do’ list - quite possibly March 2024..Take care PS would you mind if I sent you a txt?
@@ConceptAdventuresheatwaves & torrential rains we're having it all aren't we!? Yes, feel free to make contact with me, time has flown this year. Cheers 😊
Thank you Doug, really enjoyed the video.

Some great practical tips and tricks. Thanks for making this video!
Wow that is beautiful. I disagree with one comment though about doing it in a normal car. If the normal car is kept serviced and driven well I cant see why not. If my parents could drive an old hillman with a caravan up from Victoria to Queensland through the glasshouse mountains with 2 kids in tow as well me being one of them I dont see why its impossible for a normal car. Just my 2 bob worth. Fantastic trip thank you for sharing and stay safe
Thanks so much…
We've enjoyed a lot of the Flinders in a 2wd van before now. Common sense goes a long way but you can see a lot without a fancy rig!
Great video mate. Well done. (I was sitting next to you at the Bash watching you film and chatting to you).
Gidday Adam, yes i remember you we were chatting about devices and 4K etc… glad you liked it, I’m editing the concert vid atm… funny that was the last video I’ll shoot on that device, had a gut-full of inadequacies, now have a pro Sony camcorder, cheers mate
Interesting video. Thanks
I remember the townsite of Hawker had a council impouing yard with an early 60s Chrysler Royal in it but this was way back. One trip after escorting a load to Leigh Creek, I came across the unusual sight of a fox and a huge Wedgie sharing a road kill kangaroo. The next day and about 1000 further on, I happened to pass another Wedgie dragging a road kill fox off the road. Nature is strange. Great videos you have here that I have just discovered.
Many thanks for sharing your memories, that’s what it’s all about, to be honest that’s why I do videos
Great video Doug well captured especially enjoyed reliving the 4WD track. My wife and I caught up with you out there filming we were in the Nissan Patrol, looking forward to more videos and adventures.
Hey Greg many thanks, did you score any award winning pics? Lol - can’t wait to get back out there, cheers Doug
Thankyou for a fantastic video, Clermont Q.L.D
