เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 28 เม.ย. 2018
Welcome!
I am a pelvic health physical therapist in Kelowna BC, Canada and I am passionate about spreading awareness about all things related to the pelvic floor.
I found myself immersing myself in this field after the birth of my first child. I struggled to get back to my active lifestyle and felt confused, angry and alone in the process. I was not asked about all of the embarrassing symptoms I was experiencing and there was no guidance.
Within the Pelvic Floor Project Space:
- I provide 1:1 guidance and support to anyone with a pelvic floor (psssst...everyone has a pelvic floor)!
- Run the Pelvic Floor Project Podcast
- Support pregnant and postpartum women through my project 'Mommy Berries'
- Facilitate special initiatives in my community promoting physical health and wellness
My passion is educating and in doing so, I hope that it helps you find the guidance and support that you need.

This was very interesting. I wonder if she would take patients long distance?
This was super.
Thank you for this video. tacks a lot of the scary things away about surgery. I am in 108 Mile House. You are in Kelowna. Luv this video.
Is it normal to notice this at almost 6 weeks Postpartum?
Wtf so hot girls poo lol
I wish I would have a good gynecologist who would give space for expressing my emotions. It is not the case. She announced it to me very fast, she was very cold. No time for questions. I suspect she don't know much about it. I get my informations on TH-cam and...I am on my own. It is very difficult for me. It is very complicated here to get to see a doctor. Most of them don't have a clue what LS is. It took years to get help and to identify what I have. And in my case it comes with another autoimmune disease...
My fiend from Kamloops had a c- section. The MD did not sew up her uterus after the c- section and just closed up the outer layer of tissue. She came back for infertility treatment and they covered her condition up and just said she was infertile. When she entered menopause she started to have extremely bold periods. She went to a gynecologist and it was revealed to her that her uterus was not sewn up after her c- section so that was the reason for her infertility. Canadians have to wait months for appointments with a doctor. You could wait 6 months to a year for surgery. They do not expect cancer to be treated in a timely manner because of shortages of doctors and healthcare. No way do I want universal healthcare like Canada.
😮 nice outie❤❤
Omg😮❤❤
Makes sense, watching them melt away within 48 hours felt so good, and yep, I used what I mentioned the other day. It did take a bit more to make them totally disappear, I just go’ogled Melissa Thanderski and followed her simple advice.
Just used this video after a c section. I couldn’t do number 2, and it helped from first, thanks a lot!!❤
Interesting
Thanks for sharing. Breathing and affirmations are so important.
Thanks for your video! Very helpful, especially visually showing it all (helps to visualise everything down there). :) Hopefully someone can relate to this, I have a postpartum grade 2 bladder prolapse and I’m seeing a Pelvic floor physio for it. From online and my physio, there’s hope my symptoms will minimise and I’ll be able to live everyday life normally (☺️). My physio, like you mentioned my body is still recovering from pregnancy/childbirth (15 weeks PP). BUT I can’t find online success stories of those that were very physically active before pregnancy and were able to go back to their sports and physical activities after having a prolapse post partum. I used to run and play field hockey and dance. I can’t do any of it right now. I know it’s early days but with the prolapse my hopes have diminished. I’ve been told I can walk and do Pilates. I’m doing my pelvic floor exercises. I just can’t run, jump or do anything high impact (everything I love to do) Anyway, do you/anybody know of any success stories of people recovering/managing their prolapse and going back to high impact sports? 😢🤞
How much did it cost?
I am 25. I had a full-thickness rectal prolapse just attempting to go to the bathroom. I guess I strained too much, but I have also learned, since, that I have pelvic floor dysfunction, and that it was caused exacerbated by my stress-induced IBS. I've been doing pelvic physiotherapy, and my back pain and swelling from the prolapse have been getting better, but sometimes i have flare-ups of pain and swelling. The surgeon was really dismissive about my condition, saying that having chronic hemorrhoids is normal. I have an area in the front of my rectum that droops a tiny bit when I stand, and it has really been affecting me mentally. I have never even been intimate. I am in a serious relationship and planning to get married next year. I worry that this will be with me forever. I'm scared of intimacy, due to this, and that if I ever have kids, my condition will get even worse. I'm looking for some hope.😢
thank you for sharing this. I am hopefully having this surgery soon, but I am alone and have nobody to help me. Was it possible to get up out of bed on your own at first? Is crawling on hands and knees an. alternative way to get around if you are in a position where it's difficult to get to your feet?
im going thru this, postpartum 30 yrs. Contracted worst bronchitus which ripped my already weak abdominal sheath apart with hemotoma belly. Damnnn, wish I'd taken care of this years ago. the pain is real, strengthen your core muscles soon after birth ladies.
Truth how painful is this?
I'm thinking about the surgery to sew the two sides of muscles back together, but I'm alone. I have no one who can help me in the first recovery days after surgery. Should I forego it?
Have some one because if you don't get help because of chores the surgery will go waste
@@mehrajunissa1205 I don't know what you mean by chores. If I have to just sit and lie down for a couple of weeks to let it heal I'll do that. I won't be doing any laundry or cleaning or even shopping if I can help it. I'm already used to being in pain and essentially a cripple. I just don't want to do things that would undo what the surgery does. What about using the bathroom? I hope I don't need help with that!
@@martinarcher1503 As I know the idea if chores are done the surgery will go waste as I have diastasis recti & surgery which I'll be doing after 1& half year due to me being in my 1st trimester Its good if you don't need to do anything for couple of weeks but the important part lies from start post day surgery till 3months so starting these 3months if you have chores like all you should do minimal for sure but not lifting will really score the success for 3months not more than 1kg- 1&half doctor says not more than 5kg ; but if there is a person around you it goes sure that you ll have idea that you are in safe mode for your body+ which helps more in healing Then it goes to have moderate level care to your body by 3months to 6 months & you have to take care by not lifting
@@martinarcher1503 Hey sorry for the late reply As you are essential cripple so it's better you know if you went through surgery alone will it be good results you could achieve you'll get to know from the doctor as your alone But make sure you know from different doctors + specialist in that field for many years probably 15years experience+ Make sure the things you'll be doing after surgery I mean chores as of laundry how many times you'll be squatting for mopping floor or cleaning + cooking part requires bending + tell him through day out how many times you'll bend as your alone for chores(before surgery like knowing information from him not the day before I hope you understand)--- this is main part which helps the doctor understand the situation if you want to have surgery Then they'll mention you chances of success From what I know the part lies main on starting 3months for survival and successful rate of post surgery which you already done(in future) If you want not to be cripple because nobody wants & can continue to do that so make sure you maintain the mindest I can& I will do don't have an ounce of doubt Day by day make sure you have that mindset slowly+steadily ( because you have that like every one else out there so you have to do it like others do in your case I'm serious ) in this you have to understand how deep your inches are what precautions you have to take I mean get to know that try practising that not bending or chores for 1month or half month in home (+mindset part too)in this way you'll surely pass as your practising chores ( because you can't be unbathed + for 3months get to know bath routine if I'm in your situation I'll probably won't have full bath for 1&hlf month according to me person will be weak but dipping towel in hot water & probably cleaning full body) + taking Care of diet like boiled vegetables in middle if you can have normal eating ask that to but don't eat spicy food + mindset You'll success for sure
@@mehrajunissa1205 thank you for that. It seems like you maybe dictated that by voice as it was garbled. One of my main concerns is whether I can sit on the toilet, wipe, and clean myself. If I can do that without help I am happy to deal with all the other challenges in the healing process. I've been in constant pain for six years. I can deal with another year if it means I will be healed
In U.S. I think I can speak for major portion of people who think they have LS or do. Going to a general doctor or physicians assistant is just not feasible for diagnosis as too many of them are only there for colds flu cuts and bruises
Wow, two days and you’re moving around like that! I am just thinking about having that surgery and lying awake at night trying to strategize my approach to the surgeon for postoperative pain care. Stay well.
From my experience, ask your dr. for post-op 1. Gas-X 2. Stool softener 3. Compression 4. Pain meds 5. Lactation specialist. Thank you all!
Are biopsies for LS always accurate?
@@carolreeves1949 they take actual tissue so I don’t know how they would not be
Hi, did the surgery that you had counted as medical surgery or cosmetic? Did your insurance cover the cost? And did they remove the the extra skin on your tummy?
Is soaking in warm water necessary to improve effectiveness of Clobetasol?
I do this as the ladies in the two support groups suggested soaking prior to using the steroid ointment. This house they went to get down to the layer of the skin that needs treatment.
My doctor said for grade 1 prolapse I won’t get fit a pessary even though I want to! I’m hoping with kegels andd a pessary one day the prolapse stays up by itself. I read that is possible!
I would love to have some reassurance, this video was amazing but I made what would have been a grade 3 prolapse into a grade 4 I think. At 3 days post-partum, I thought I felt a huge blood clot coming out, it felt bigger than a golf ball. So I called my midwife urgently to ask what to do, and she said it will come out and just to give a push. I hung up, gave a push, then panicked as it still wasn't coming out. So I tried to pull it out (tearing up now as I think of the consequences of my mistake). It was a prolapse and not a blood clot at all. I cannot stand up without it all falling out again, looking at infographics online, it looks like a grade 4 now. I am so beyond devastated and frustrated at myself for what I did. My midwife said to wait out the 6 weeks, and she said not to wear a prolapse belt and that I wouldn't be able to get a pessary either, when I asked about these. I am desperate as I can barely get out of bed to feed baby without it falling, and I have a 6yo to take care of too. She said there is nothing I can do, it just has to heal. But will it heal?
I'm sorry you are going through this. It's nearly impossible to give advice this way when I don't know enough about the big picture and cannot provide an assessment. Given that you NEED to be able to care for your kids, can I suggest a podcast episode where I covered the benefits of support garments (compression) postpartum and how this may help you. Here is the link for you to have a listen. www.buzzsprout.com/1722389/14510942
Having 2 10 lb baby girls naturally back to back, yes it sucks. It isn’t pretty, and sensations are not the same. Luckily, at least time does heal and there are things to do to manage. I created a red clover tincture that helps with increasing estrogen and started using kegel balls. My beautiful daughters got the best start into this world, I would not have traded that for anything. It comes with the many sacrifices of being a mother.
I could definitely use this surgery but videos like these are making me think long and hard. Best wishes
Thanks so much addressing this! This describes me perfectly & my GYN doesn’t have a clue.
I am so glad you found this helpful. This is an area that has been underservised and I think we will start seeing some change!!
Can you have skin inflammation of the vulva, no burning with urinating or pain with BM & have pelvic floor dysfunction pain Without LS?
It's really hard to provide this advice without doing a thorough history and exam :)

This was so helpful to hear. normalizes what I am feeling. Day 5 I had some hearing loss...that was wierd!!
That looks a little big, exactly how far does it go???
omg I was so constipated I literally had to poop standing up😂 Just let it come out Im sorry someone needs to know. 😅 definitely recommend asking for a stool softener. Also If you have stiches and have to pee, start pouring warm water over stiches 1st, then begin to pee. Congratulations to all with precious new babies❤
You have no idea how helpful, healing, and reassuring your video is.❤❤❤ Just like everyone has mentioned, your manner of explaining is amazing. I just had my 2nd child and I'm 5 days pospartum. The first 3 days were fine, and i noticed the prolapse (either stage 2 or 3) yesterday. It sent me in a spiral of depression. I read so many things about surgery and not beingnable to have more kids😢. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Keep posting these amazing videos and supporting women during sone if the most intense times of their lives.❤
I really appreciate you taking the time to leave this feedback. I am so glad you found the video helpful.
If I had known…. If I had gone to the gyno like you are supposed to (if i had insurance)… If I didn’t ignore those weird bruises that wouldn’t go away or the shiny skin or then the insane itching. If I had had a satisfying sex life before 40. If I wasn’t now 43 without a visible clitoris and most of my inner labia gone. If I could convince the insurance company I pay $700 a month specifically because of this, that getting my clitoris unfused is not aesthetic. Is something they should cover. If I could even imagine having sex again because I would never let anyone see the mangled mess I now own. If I had known…
i'm almost glad i had severe anemia w bleeding.. and went on low dose pill since 43... Wouldn't know much now if i hadn't maybe and i only found out about vaginal estrogen cream at 49 when things just shut down "down there" now i'm on a journey for a urogyn to prescribe me hopefully testosterone b/c i think i have clitoral atrophy (mild thankfully);/ i also found toys now haha live at 50 and up
I have some question I want to ask you is there a way we can talk? I’m having anxiety bout this, I just had a baby 2 weeks ago
I just got fitted for a pessary yesterday and was really looking forward to the appointment. The fitting was just using the standard size most woman use and then I was ask to try to take it in and out. I was told that if it was comfortable than it was a good fit. Well I noticed that the disk was sitting in my vaginal canal and not on my pubic bone so I asked the physician to come back and she said that it was normal and it was sitting as it should. She never asked me to void or even walk around. My prolapse is grade 2 cystocele and rectocyle and I could feel both prolapse and the ring in my vagina near the opening. Is this truly how it should fit? I thought it was supposed to sit on the pubic bone and holding up the prolapse. There are no other specialist in my area so I have no idea who to ask for a second opinion.
Very well explained. It was very helpful ❤
I waited to comment until I was FULLY no longer constipated. 20 days PP as of today. First urge to poo was around 4 or 5 days PP. I can’t even begin to tell you how I don’t want to ever be pregnant/delivering again BECAUSE OF THE POOOOOO!!!!! As of today, after 15 days and many poop sessions, I am no longer constipated.
oh man... all the things we aren't prepared for as a new mom!!! Glad you have some relief now.
Thank you for this video. I was about to buy a wand but could not figure out based on the words how it's supposed to be used. This was very helpful
so happy you found it helpful!
My gynecologist just fitted my first ring pessary (the one with support) in a vertical possition, she didn't move it into the normal horizontal possition. Is it possible to use a pessary in a vertical possition? Does ring pessaries sometime get fitted in the vertical possition? It doesn't seem normal as I can not find anything about being fitted vertically on-line. It has left me worried... It feels okay but will my menstruation blood stiil be able flow pass the pessary? She said I must just leave it, not remove at all, not even for cleaning and I will only see her for a physical examination again in 4 to 6 months. She will phone me after 4 to 6 weeks. She did not even show me how to insert it myself or how to remove it.
I'm wondering if she means that the "support" knob on the pessary is in the vertical position. If the entire pessary is in a vertical position, it will likely be uncomfortable or fall out. When in doubt, call the gyne office :)
Does breathing get better? I find that it’s harder for me to take a deep breath
Yes it was hard for me to take deep breaths early on! with time it improved yes. Hope you are feeling better with time.
