    Brilliant video. I told someone recently my favourite seasons of red dwarf are the first two, that pathos and central idea revolving around Lister being the last man alive was fundamental in those season's. The scene when he goes into the canteen and remembers a party then it all fades away. The observation deck which was removed after season 3, the bunk bed conversations, the vending machine being almost a character and the most central of all the very fact season's one and two are set on RedDwarf. I haven't seen RedDwarf in many year's but now that I'm going back and rewatching them I'm finding each season has it's own identity which is lost in the next, it's very interesting

    If Streets of Rage 2 hadn't been the pack-in game for my Genesis, my love affair with Sega may never have started. It is near perfect, and along with Gunstar Heroes and Sonic 2, SOR2 was a flashy product advertisement for what the Genesis could do for your skeptical SNES owning friends.

    This is the game that made me discover Virtua Fighter. I instantly preferred it to Tekken and Dead or Alive. So many hours passed on this game, I never got tired of it. With Virtua Racing, it made me love the 32X. This platform had so much potential, too bad Sega didn't make good use of it.

    Nice video! I think if you go back to Sega touring car or Daytona and play them in manual gears you will enjoy them a lot more, especially Daytona dropping into 2nd from 4th as you turn in and back up again will have drifting in no time. Slowing down in the gears in STC will slow you down faster and straighten up an take off quicker coming back up the gears,it’s a fun game when mastered. I agree on Sega Rally best racing game ever.

  • @roberto1519
    @roberto1519 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Double Dragon II is truly another bad port as was the first game, the original was such a popular game and the Mega Drive was way more powerful than that arcade board, so it should be not a perfect port, but better and with extras. Strangely, if you load DDII on an emulator and overclock the MD CPU to 200% or more, the stutters are gone, so yeah, the developers behind this game were lost, or maybe a deadline factor, but I doubt it. Sword of Sodan isn't a beat-em-up, it's an attempt at an action game, with a rudimentary inventory management, it's laughably bad.

    • @retromuel
      @retromuel 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah DD2 is terrible. Opinions always vary on what genre a certain game belongs to, and there's quite a bit of bleed over - this list here is based on Sega Retro's. It's really poor but I do quite like the giant sprites and the setting for some reason. Thanks for watching.

    For 1996 this was an amazing technological achievement. I remember seeing VF3 at Sega World in London in 1997 and it was simply jaw-dropping. They had an island of sit-down cabinets with large rear-projected monitors standing back-to-back against each other. It was massive. It felt like you were quite literally seeing what the future of video games would look like. Having said that, I feel that VF3 has aged rather poorly and that is mostly down to the art direction. The characters look lifeless, they animate stiffly and they still used this old modelling style whereby each joint and body part is a separate model rather than using skinned meshes. By the time VF3tb came out on the Dreamcast, which was by all accounts a very solid port, it felt very dated and was easily eclipsed by Soulcalibur, which is arguably a less technologically advanced game but one that had art direction and animation quality far beyond anything we'd ever seen at the time. It just goes to show that good art direction is far more important than just raw technical prowess.

    • @retromuel
      @retromuel หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought the arcade version did have meshes and the Dreamcast version did away with them? I could be wrong of course but I remember reviews at the time criticising the Dreamcast port for its glitchy joints in comparison to the model 3 original. I agree that the game hasn't aged as well as the first two entries. The art design and graphics in 1 and 2 are kind of abstract and timeless there whereas Virtua Fighter 3 went for a more photorealistic style and has since been superceded. Aoi's snow stage and Wolf's desert stage in particular still look gorgeous to me, having said that. It plays great and does still look absolutely phenomenal compared to anything else released in 96-97 also. Thanks for watching.

    Basically it’s the same as me. Vf3 is nostalgia. First time I saw it was at gameworks when it first opened. I never ran so fast to a game that cost a whole dollar to play. Also, nice touch at the end with the Saturn. My favorite console ever. Hit me right in the feels.

    Loved the game from the first time I played it. Tried to explain it to friends at school upon return from Christmas Holidays and they looked at me like I was nuts when telling them about the forklift section Their response; that sounds boring as all hell. It really was one of those games that you had to play and immerse yourself in to truly understand, I think. And that’s why it worked for me. The game has a level of immersion that I still don’t see from even modern releases. It really goes out of its way to build a lived in world that feels like a real place rooted in time. And I loved it. I loved just hanging out in Yokosuka. I loved killing time collecting toy capsules. I loved getting high scores in the arcades. I loved learning new martial arts moves from various masters. I loved messing about with the simplified VF engine I loved collecting the Saturn games and playing them on the Saturn under the TV. I loved that the local shop keep would affectionately call me baby Ryo much to Ryo’s chagrin It’s all these little details that make this game something special to me

    You can get the Saturn Twin sticks for Virtual On and use an adapter. They are usually a good bit cheaper than the DC ones. Also a few other Saturn games support them, like Gundam Blue Destiny . I used to own the cabinet for the 1st game, it was amazing. It is basically unplayable with a standard controller imo.

    Thank you for this series. The Dreamcast is my favorite console, and I'm loving this journey. Of the games in this chapter, I've only played two: Shenmue (my favorite by far, a game so wonderful that it's hard to explain everything that's good about it) and Resident Evil 2 (which I only played halfway through, because I didn't like it... only the first one really enchanted me). I hope you have the strength and patience to get to the end of the list of games. Greetings from Brazil.

    Great program and presentation. Thanks for the satisfying length of game footage. My tops are VF, VFR, VF2, FMM, LB, and DOA. I wont touch the other 3D fighters on Saturn. So, I played VF2 the most, both 1 player and 2 player. I'm a huge VF and Shenmue fan, I especially love the music in VF1, it has superb presence. I love FMM a lot too, what a great idea, I loved the mix of styles and characters and the inclusion of VF3 moves, including the 3D sidestep! Why has Sega forgotten it? Last Bronx has a unique feel, the fighting is quicker and more brutal, and it doesn't seem as strategic as VF2, but the visuals are probably the best of all these.

    1:11:15 I especially enjoy the Shenmue section discussion and game clips. A fantastic game and even better sequel. I remember picking up the disk at Electronics Boutique. It was the day that it rained. I ran home on the narrow street, stopping only to pet a stray cat. A black car almost side swiped me in my rush. Through the yard gate and into the home I ran, past our housekeeper Ini-san, and popped it into my game system. Well, that is how I remember it.

    The models were pretty impressive for their time (1993), SEGA tried to do the most detailed character they could and give them personality. But with the advances of technics in texturing 3D models you could see low poly models that could looks better thanks to a colorfull texture, even Tekken 3 had very low poly count in their models compared to the first virtua fighter, but thanks to the textures they looks pretty good. But SEGA did redesingned a lot of their characters and gave them lots altern costumes, but something I always question about SEGA is that they took a path where they wanted to show detailed characters only using 3D, pretty daring task for that time.

    Ive always been a sci-fi and technology fan, to that end I even Work in tech now, when I was a kid, of course I watched this movie, and learning tech, and working in that area over the years there are two main things form the terminator that have always made me fearful of what we are doing and where we are going, the first is when Reece says the denfence computer is big powerful and hooked into everything, in in the 80s that was a pipe dream, but here we are pretty much all computers and phones are connected to each other, and the other is when he says to sarah they cant make them for about 40yrs, and here we are about 40yrs later, with humanoid robots being tested and tried out in jobs.
