So why not just throw an F series engine in there and call it a day… cheap as all heck and you’ll get over 150hp Stock
because a swap isn't nearly as cool as a all motor d series. All you see now and days is swaps. Everyone puts b or k series engines in these cars or boosts them now. Its just became the norm sometimes its cool to be different even if that means you'll make less hp at the end of the day. not saying a f swap wouldn't be cool as you don't see too many people doing them anymore, but sometimes its fun to take a motor some people deem as not worth building or only good with boost, and make a fun high comp dd or short circuit screamer out of it. not to mention how cheap it is to build a d series now and days compared to a kswap or building a b series for reliable boost.

Nice numbers that gear set is a must do on any d series build I built a 150 WHP non vtec build about 14 years ago. With the gears and that kinda power it was pretty fun setup
Nothing beats a period correct motor making all its potential power
I've had 2 stock 5th gens, a DX and an EX. Honestly 160whp in one of these cars would feel like a hoot. Nice video.
Facts, my Ek3Vi sedan with a 3stage vtec D15 is peppy as hell as long as the weather is cool. 130 Hp and so fun so I can't imagine a lighter Eg Hatch with that 160whp

The cam is really good, drives well even in low rpm which I thought wouldn’t be possible before Would the header have a significant increase since you changed headers also?
@@toddescoto2312How’s top end power and up to what rpm is the redline? Hmm the thing is when I changed the cam I also changed the header, so I’m not sure how the old header would perform with the new cam

unfortunately when we replaced the ecu, it got water damage, then didnt have time to tune with the 2nd replacement ecu

@@vince.r I'd suggest to try and work on the induction side of things including the valve seats to uncork the potential of your set up. 😀 Btw, how wide and long are the primaries of the alpha header?

@@findtherightbeat I searched for your comment regarding the valve seat cutter from newen which turns out to be a 5 angle valve cutter. We have done this as well from the machine shop but I wasn't able to specify/provide the cutter itself. I just went ahead and added to cart the valve job lol As for the alpha header I didn't get to measure it unfortunately

Just bought mfactory short 3rd gear. How did you install it? I plan on flipping my stock 3rd gear as 4th gear
Nice! I had a professional install it for me as it's not my area of expertise 😂 I had the old 3rd gear replace 4th gear as well. It's definitely worth it and makes the car a lot more fun to drive, even at low speeds. With an all motor D16, I won't even bother to try to max out the old 4th gear 😂 Let me know your thoughts once you get yours installed! Btw, what final drive are you running?

Thanks! this setup has high compression pistons with a stock cam.. We now have a crower stage 3 cam installed and other supporting mods. I'll be also adding an m factory 3rd gear soon! Consider subscribing as we'll be dyno tuning this soon!
What exhaust setup are you running?
locally made 4-2-1 header, 24" resonator, spoon n1 muffler replica, 2" pipe diameter. Thanks for watching

This isn't installed yet but this will go along with a stage 3 cam and a ported skunk2 intake manifold.. Hopefully gets dyno tuned by June. Consider subscribing to see the results!!
