The Exorcist Legacy: 50 Years of Fear Author Nat Segaloff
Season 10, Episode 1
My guest is Nat Segaloff, author of The Exorcist Legacy: 50 Years of Fear. Nat is uniquely qualified to write about this controversial classic. As a publicist working for the film, he was standing guard outside the auditorium doors for the first press screening . He also knew director William Friedkin, and wrote his authorized biography and he knew novelist/screenwriter and director William Peter Blatty. We talked about the many versions and sequels of the Exorcist, the women who were integral to the creation and execution of the story, and how while nothing can match the original film, the movies it inspired have a lot to offer.

Bette Davis Impressions and Toons
มุมมอง 6Kวันที่ผ่านมา
[Time-stamped list of clip sources below] This collection of impressions and ‘toons featuring Davis show some of the many ways she has been impersonated, interpreted, and lampooned in popular culture. As grand as she was, Bette Davis always had a sense of humor about herself. She has been impersonated countless times over the years, and she’s been amused and even enthusiastic about the attentio...
Saucy Moments from Pre-Code Classic Hollywood Movies: Part Six
มุมมอง 4.4K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
[Timestamped list of films below] There are a lot of familiar patterns and themes in classic pre-Code Hollywood movies (the time period roughly between 1930-34), as can be seen in this collection of clips. Censors found it too racy, but these classic films were also honest, humorous, and adult. The Saucy Pre-Code Moment Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLj3-hIKmvt6XoiR6Z-pAnz1qGZ1-oMWx7.html&si=khJKJM...
Mae West Impressions and 'Toons
มุมมอง 25Kหลายเดือนก่อน
[Clip sources listed below in order of appearance] This collection of Mae West impressions in movies, television, and cartoons is only a small sample of the many times this influential funny lady has inspired impersonators and animators. The funny thing about most West impressions is that they have more in common with each other than the actual Mae West, despite typically being good enough that...
Jean Harlow Being a Bombshell for Twelve Minutes
มุมมอง 1.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
[Timestamped list of films below] Jean Harlow was the first blonde bombshell and she made a huge impact in her short life. No dumb blonde, she was funny, sexy, charismatic, and was even developing her dramatic chops (her final scene with Myrna Loy in Wife vs. Secretary showed where she could have gone as a dramatic lead). Her death of uremic poisoning at age 26 was a significant loss. However, ...
Robots in Classic Movies

[Timestamped list of films below] Robots and mechanical beings, have been a part of the movies from the beginning. They’re an especially interesting aspect of the movies because while they can have many common similarities, like a slow gait, the ability to kill with eye lasers, stilted speech, and a habit of crashing through doors and windows, the way they have been portrayed on screen is also ...

??????????????????????????????????
lve 5his movie
SaUCy? 🧸 REally ??
The MOST Iconic actress EVER at every stage of her extensive career! BTW I know that she's a "gay icon"; however, as a straight man I can't ever pass up a Davis movie. If I'd had been in Hollywood during the early through midlife stages of her career I would have pursued her with all the charm I could!!!
As much as I love the beauty and talent of Vivien Leigh I would have chosen Bette over her for my love.
Omg I love precode movies! ❤
😢🙏🏼 🕊
My mom favorite actor ❤
Evil that's not allowed in american cinema today.... Great film
❤
Another good and funny movie with the beautiful Ann Sheridan ! ⚘️
Better David,The greatest!!!
Beautiful ever. ❤❤❤❤
La Davis is the shit
Brilliant sense of humour!
This is so funny and well done. She's a S-T-A-H, stah!
Some where in time , is the film , it's a great 🎥
Anything with Julie Harris.
Why don't ya come up and see me sometime
So Beautiful... Ebony Royalty.. Very rare ..Very mysterious.. I always loved seeing her.. Thank you.. Rest in Peace.. Godspeed. ✝️
What a dump!
Where is last 2 clips with Bette from? One I assume tv play, other se kind of ad
Hollywood Palace and the beginning of a 1970s reboot of Laugh-in. There's a timestamped list of the clip sources in the description if you need more info
A TRUE STORY !
The original is the legend; the talented imitators were and are gifted.
Kaye Ballard did a spectacular Bette Davis. Sad you left her out.
Can't leave it out if I don't know about it😆 thanks for sharing, I'll look her up
I’m sad you left her out too. If you look up “To Tell The Truth - The World Famous Bette Davis FOOLING the panel” you’ll see impersonators sat alongside Bette Davis, fascinating to see and a missed opportunity for your montage for sure.
@@ah7910 Like I said, can't leave out anything out I didn't know about, but happy to look it up!
This is a great film! I really enjoyed it
Terrible that they made Harlow act out a suicide scene, when her husband committed suicide in real life just two years before
What about alaska's?
That much emotion in one little body ! FANTASTIC!! INCREDIBLE!! UNBELIEVABLE!!
French and Saunders !
I was going to mention that, Dawn French did a fantastic job impersonating Bette.
Jimmy Stewart’s anti-impression is so funny - “Well…uh…uh, Peter? Uh…and…Peter?” Made even better followed by “I’ve got others but they’re not perfected yet.”
There was also a scene in an episode of "Small Wonder" (three scenes, actually) that did the "Peetah" joke, but it was an anti-tobacco episode and I imagine y'all didn't want to show depictions of kids smoking without that context.
She got married to the man she loved with her 6 kids it was alot of sacrifices for love ❣️
! Que hermoso señor!
Breathtaking
She definitely was eating good 😂😂
Oh fabulous......❤❤❤❤❤😊
Another great video, thanks so much!
She was a genius.
We miss Bette Davis those were the days when acting was superb. She was the queen far above all in those days and today
Had a Catherine Deneuve look about her. she really admired her as an actress.
Even in parody - enchanting!
0:19 thats how i draw characters.
A Barbie Doll. ❤❤❤❤
R.I.P 2 legends
I absolutely adore the film, but no scene from _Wife vs Secretary_ has any business being in this compilation
I disagree obviously 🤣 It's not a great movie, but she's giving low-key Bombshell in that role. I think she has her moments. But whatever. Agree to disagree.
@@watchingclassicmovies oh I loved her in that movie. It was one of the few movies in which she _didn’t_ play the vamp. It’s a tragedy that she died before she got the chance to play many of those roles. Of course, she _was_ excellent as a bombshell, so it’s no wonder you were able to stitch 12 minutes of her material under that category. Every other clip you used was bang-on, I thought! Thanks for the video!
Idk who she is but I love her
The greatest actress of the golden age
Her films did not age well. Shop girl prostitution fantasies
Scandals are everywhere, they're in the air, who put them there, you you and you😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
make gays posh again
