Your dress is so beautiful! I just made this pattern and love it! I don’t what took me so long. I have a question. I usually need to do a FBA, but this time I just made it “as is” since it has so much ease. I have some minor tightness when I raise my arms. I think I like how the just fits, and thought of adding to the sleeves. The pulling is across the bust line where the sleeve attaches. I like my fit on the loose side. Can you give me tips on how you increase the size of the sleeve at the deltoid area? Slash and spread? Thanks for your suggestions. P

Definitely make your shorts and the Chelsea linen tee out of the white as well. That will create so many extra combos. White is also a wonderful colour in hotter weather! And imaginary white clothes don’t get dirty on an imaginary CapeTown holiday! Bonus!

Some great wardrobe ideas for your trip to South Africa. We went several years ago to Cape Town & visited most of the areas you mentioned but don’t forget to go to Robin Island & if you can do a safari. We also did ‘walking with lions’ which was really special. We hired a car & did a lot of mileage all over SA but beware of the huge potholes in the roads. We were lucky that we also had a week with relatives in Pietermaritzburg, spent time at the beach Margate & several days in Durban. 😊

I absolutely love your plans! Not my colors at all, but I like how your fabric choices coordinate and also the classic yet feminine patterns you choose. I would totally make one or both of those tops in the white linen as well to multiply your options.

You have me looking up flights 😉. I love the pink floral deess and the cute shorts. Honestly all these patterns would be wonderful for the capsule travel wardrobe. Time to look through my own fabric stash and daydream about the trip.

Any desire to sew another hinterland with all the skills you've learned over the past few years to make adjustment?

I think we all have had the same feelings about sewing/wardrobe that you are experiencing. You just need to try and push through or look for another hobby that you really enjoy to satisfy your creative side. Your top looks well made but my opinion is that it might be too big and you might want to size down a bit.

I know how you feel about not wanting to make it again. I think you could make a smaller size, looks more over-sized than it should be. The fabric is not the correct weight either. But it’s a muslin and you can wear around house. That’s what I do. Then the things I like, I wear out😊 I made one Style Arc dress three times. It’s the pattern that looks bad on me. I’m still figuring out what looks good on my heavier older self. But I can’t quit sewing! Please don’t stop. I enjoy watching you.
