I wish the narrator had pointed out that although the streets are empty in paintings such as “Early Sunday Morning,” above the storefronts and beyond the windows, and likewise, the windows and walls of NewYork City brownstones and New England mansions, there are people living their lives, waking, sleeping, loving, fighting and, yes, some are no doubt sitting alone, experiencing alienation, and perhaps even staring out of the windows at us.

Nighthawks is a tremendously influential source of blues music to me. One thing I've often wondered about it is, what is that little green rectangle shaped thing the woman seems to be eating? If that's a green cracker, it's past it's prime.

His paintings are very expressive, a fusion of dark & light. As an artist it has visual appeal. It’s not my style, I prefer painting landscapes.

Sooo New York... where is Nighthawks these days? Chicago. What he lit, hopefully not accidentally was our weird sence of voyeurism.

Hopper's find a calm, even amidst the busy city, a retreat into the beautiful aesthetic of contemporary life, censored from stark modernism, muted from the noise- a quiet angelic view of souls and the creative effect of souls, frozen, each in the everyday but also in their minds that open up new possibilities, their soul's passions, will, intellect, memories. Every scene is bigger than the frame. Hopper is not a modern artist. He is classical, in a modern setting.

His paintings send a profound message. It isn't loneliness or emptiness. Life can be full n satisfying without many things or luxury. So different from the world today, that's what i see.

Looking into the mind of Hopper and finding loneliness is projection of our own mind. Such arrogance calls for the investigation of our own mind. Psychotherapy is one way to understand why we project such attitudes. At any rate, such behavior be it by a Senior Curator or young student, shows a complete lack of respect for the artist.
