Kayak day trip of Ramrod key. Cool weather | Slow fishing. We're green peas so we're still learning
Kingfisher kayak link - amzn.to/2XjXNVq
Kayaking off Florida Keys. Short video of the day. Beautiful cool day off Ramrod key. Fishing was slow but it was a great trip. Ten mile trip on a kayak in the ocean is very relaxing. Highly recommend it to anyone stuck inside for 3 months.
Caught a few barracudas and jacks. Nothing worth keeping. Primarily used jigs and lures. Some cut bait that got no action. Using the a Kastmaster jig is one of my favorites on slow action days. It can cover a lot of water and you can cast it a mile even into the wind.
Here is the link to a couple Kastmaster -

I like the silver and blue. Amazing lure. Gets action everywhere I've fished. Inshore, offshore and fresh water. I've caught cudas, mangroves, yellowtail, kingfish and largemouth bass on this thing. Even caught a freshwater carp once. No BS. Things felt like a ton of bricks on my little bass rod.

Check it out on Amazon now - amzn.to/2XjXNVq Learning to Kayak fish in the Keys has been learning experience. Each time you go out you learn something new. This is my 3rd trip. The first trip I ended up flipping the kayak about 1/2 mile offshore. My dry bags and camel pack kept everything dry. The seat came off and I went in. Lost sunglasses and brand new Penn inshore combo. Had back up sunglas...

Achor trolley is a must have for me, any provisions in place?
Need this asap!!!
it's too heavy, 17kg for each section. the rear end doesn't have a useful handle so it's not easy to pick it up. The most important issue is the locking system, it's easy to lock the kayak on a flat surface but outside, close to the water if you don't have a flat surface you'd be in trouble. It's really hard to engage 2 sections on a bumpy surface. motor mount area at the back is useless, too far from the seat and I never find a trolling motor to be easily installed to the rear designated section.
Hey buddy! How tall are you?
Please let me know how much is your kayak stability if you stay upright? This is important for me , before i buy one
Good video 👍subscribed
You've got your washers for the seat in the wrong spot. They should go above the seat bracket.
Trying to figure out why you didn't just turn around, lol. Serious question: I'm 225lb currently, the though I'm trying to lose the covid weight. Would this thing be big enough for me? I used to race bicycles (badly, lol) but have pretty good endurance for pedaling.
Milk carton? lol Maybe they'll put your face on it if you're lost at seat. That's a milk crate, fella.
love his boat ! Which ram mounts you use as i now also go to buy this boat after seen your video :)
I have this Kayak for almost a year now and it's been good, but has a few issues. The seat is comfortable but I'm on my third bottom cushion cause the seat material rips away from the stitching and now the back rest is starting to rip. Point 65 has replaced the bottom cushion for free one time and charged me $50.00 one time. Hopefully they will replace the back rest for free. The clear plastic on the pedal drive motor is fragile and has broken off but doesn't bother me. The front hatch was almost water tight at first but now it water leaks into the kayak when in moderate surf. On the newer models the hatches lock into place instead of using the cords. Hopefully they can be interchanged. But other than that it's has given me many hours of fishing fun and it is so much easier to handle than a one piece kayak, I throw it in the back of my SUV with my fishing gear and go.
Are the ratchet straps plastic? Do they seem like they are going to last? Any cracking or hardening? Thanks.
@@caricue I have the original ones and they have held up. They do feel like plastic but feel really strong. No cracking or hardening detected. One of the ratchet that holds the straps in did break but that was my fault. When tightening one of the straps I pulled to much on the handle and it snapped off. I was still able to use it without issues. I do have replacement straps on hand as the straps are wearing a little bit so I will probably change them out this winter. I thought this was going to be a weak part of the kayak but they have held up much better than expected.
@@sarasotakayakfishing4100 Thanks for the info. The straps do seem like a real critical part. I have an inflatable pedal kayak that is only a year old so I won't be upgrading until it fails, which could be awhile. It's holding up well. I sometimes go into marine environments and the oyster beds always worry me! Take it easy and happy sailing.
@@sarasotakayakfishing4100how is it still holding up after the years? Do you know if there a bimini avavible for it?
Hey bud, how much do you weight? Just asking cuz it said that this kayak maximum weight it's 280lb? So I would like to know a little bit more, I'm watching all your videos
Wondering the same. I have to wonder if they list an "ideal" weight or the true self-bailing maximum.
@@austinitor I ask him about a week or two ago and I'm still waiting for the answer 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 the kayak cost about 3k I'm 180 pounds but my dad is 230 so I just want to make sure if I get the two kayaks he will be able to put all extras on it....
I have the Kingfisher and it's been a great Kayak. Love that I can put in the back of my SUV and haul it anywhere.
love the kayak video ,was it easy to get in and out of the boat dough ?
Pretty cool!
What is your opinion on the Kingfisher kayak, now that you've used it for a year?
Love the video -good job!
Hi Roland I just found your KingFisher unboxing Video - really nice! But I noticed that you screwed on the mounting parts for the Impulse Drive incorrectly (at 13:09min into the Video) You need to have the 2 metal plates underneath to make this area more sturdy. If I can get your email, I'll send you the manual best regards /Tomas (tomas at point65.se) Point 65° N Sweden
Nice video :) I'm about to buy a new kayak would you recommend the KingFisher kayak for me? I will use it in the open water... the red sea ( Egypt ) Best regards
good
No offence intended but do you know you speak with an upward inflection? That is, your voice goes up at the end of a sentence, as if asking a question. You also put a hard accent on the last word even if the emphasis of that sentence is not on that end word. Listen to this sequence: 06:25. Each statement ends with the voice going up. Just makes it hard for your audience to listen to. But it's an easy habit to break. Okay now you can yell at me for being rude. But just giving you insight I learned from Toastmasters. If you want to teach or instruct it's best to sound sure. th-cam.com/video/HEfMwri22SM/w-d-xo.html

WTF 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏾♂️
This shit hella funny
Terry Lyons, what a funny thing to notice. I listened to the sequence you referenced and I could hear what you were talking about but it doesn't register with me at all. I'm sure you know that people cannot hear themselves the way others do, so it doesn't hurt to politely tell someone about an annoying speech pattern, especially someone who wants to build an audience. I do wonder if anyone besides you even notices though.
You are a very weird person
We really just want to see more of the kayak
I just got mine today! The rudders don’t quite line up out of the box..is there a way to align them?
Nice! Hope you're out enjoying the water during this crazy time. My rudders didn't line-up perfectly either when I first got it. The issue has not gotten worse through I kinda play with them until they are close enough. I think they have to move somewhat independently because you are turning one steering knob at time and they get out of whack. They have always realigned during use. I usually will turn both in the same direction as far as they go...back and forth and they line-up I would recommend keeping the allen key/wrench for those steering knobs close by when you're using the kayak. Those will get loose as you turn and need to be tightened during use. Not too tight or you can't steer. You can replace those steering knob bolts with phillips head screws. Take one of the bolts to a hardware store and they will know which to replace with. let me know how you do or if you already found a better fix then me.
@@clearskies4334 taking it out for it's maiden voyage today, will report back Yes I think they were loose from shipping (or intentionally kept loose) I did tighten them down and they lined up pretty close! That seemed to solve the issue but will look closer after the on the water experience. Yeah I think this kayak arrived just in time to keep me excited and busy during this crazy time. Your unboxing vid helped out a lot! I am already seeing the benefits of this design as I was able to get it into the back of an SUV no problem, loving that. Have you heard any news when the tandem piece is going to come out?
Clear skies! Quick update: working with the point 65 team. They are understandably delayed by the virus on the development and release of the tandem piece but hoping for some time this year. Those guys are great-they offered to send me a steering lock upgrade for free. I’ll let you know when I receive it and how it works out!
@@clearskies4334 We have made a knob for the rudder handle, so that you can tighten and loosen it by hand instead of a tool. Please email me and we'll send those to you, and your friend. /Tomas (at) point65.se
