    Thanks for sharing your journey Lilith! Very inspiring as always! I can deeply relate to many aspects you’ve mentioned, especially around the importance of soft skills and communication. Coming from a background as a salesperson before transitioning to Salesforce, I’ve found that those interpersonal skills have been invaluable in navigating complex projects and connecting with clients. Your emphasis on overcoming the challenge of not being a native speaker really resonates with me as well. Also, it’s amazing how much the community helps us grow, not just technically but also personally. I’m not a CTA (yet!), but your story inspires me to keep pushing forward. Thank you for being such a motivating voice in the ecosystem!

    Interesting. One reason there are so many fields added to the admin is the bottom of the totem pole in many IT departments. That means that their reasoning/wisdom is all too frequently over ridden. Another reason is that many BA jobs are contract jobs. That makes it even easier to over rule that person. The BA will think, well, I can either chose this hill to die on and be told as a contractor, Friday is your last day, or I can keep the job and add the field. "Ok go ahead and have a bad build. I'll be gone soon and it'll be your problem to fix." There's also the issue of all the folks who got Salesforce instances, and never ever, got around to removing that old technical debt. It's frequently the last thing people do, if at all.

    Thank you both for a great video. I appreciate the takeaway that we need to discuss how the different companies' departments are using/ testing the current functionality and what is working and what is not. There is much more "stealth" GPT under silent testing in companies than top executives realize. Salesforce's latest research shows that 180 million people use AI daily.

    The second half of this video shows the value of a Center of Excellence, and how process maps help get all the parties on the same page. When we just take the initial ask from the business and started working, we end up having to come back multiple times for those related asks. Then we have to undo/redo work we've previously done, adding significantly more work than just doing it all together.

    Suppose after a step done by user, I want to show that automation updates a field for example then will that come under a new step, resource being Salesforce Rule or Flow? For leads coming in from channels, do you recommend me creating separate independent flow maps or one map that starts for all channels but are linked to different flow maps ?

    Thanks for the session. I've used ChatGPT for salesforce particulars and find it relatively good. As Rory mentioned it isn't going to produce what you do not understand. There are a plethora of commentary about ChatGPT making advanced education no longer demanded, but that's way out. One of the commenters mentioned that Calculators and PCs were supposed to" ruin" education. We'll have to wait and see.

    Great interview! I think Salesforce is getting a reputation for being "too difficult" or "complicated," but we have this issue where AE's sold companies everything under the sun without the proper information on how to keep their orgs healthy. So many admins also don't do the work they need to keep up their education on best practices and new features. Also, as Jodi Hrbek mentioned in another interview, so many Admins don't even realize they can say "no".

    • @elementscloud

    I love the format and purpose of your video series! I am a new admin looking to take over an org, and I want to clean it up and get it set on a path for scalability. I would love an episode about the evils of Profiles. Andrew is not the first person I've heard moving away from them. Should I aim to utilize Permission Sets rather than Profiles? Why? Also, an episode about DevOps Center would be high on my list of desirables. What are the indispensable AppExchange apps, or does it heavily depend on your org/business? What kinds of horrors await me as I migrate all of my Workflow Rules and Process Builders over to Flow? I'll stop there and look forward to whatever expert info you share next.

    I look at technical debt as anything that can, or does, become a limiting factor in future development. A great example from years ago is when we created a custom work order object that we used for our maintenance department. When Salesforce made Work Orders, and Work Order Line Items standard objects in Service Cloud, our custom work became technical debt. The custom object would prevent us from using additional functionality that Salesforce released both standard and as part of FSL. The choice to create the custom object was the right one at the time, but the change meant we needed to decide at what point it would make the most sense for us to migrate to the new object.

    • @elementscloud
      @elementscloud ปีที่แล้ว

      Such a great example of technical debt that is not because you took a short-cut, but because the Salesforce platform evolves.

      The scale of Salesforce implementations means it is only achievable using automation; a tool. Our experience is that the Salesforce Business/Platform Owner can build a business case for purchase.
