Addicted To Fishing
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 15 มี.ค. 2008
This channel is dedicated to fishing on a budget. Lots of tackle reviews and how to videos. My channel will focus on modifying lures that have worked for me. I’ve been bass fishing on a serious level since age 10 and fishing all my life. These mods and techniques work for me. I’m not sponsored by any company shown in the videos

Are you spooling your spinning reel correctly
Nice video. But that's the only hook ⁉️ a Worm hook belly weigh. Just thinking there not cheep hooks.
Thanks and they are Not cheap, 3 for $7. Not overly expensive either. I got a bunch of core tackle goodies from a guy that didn’t like them. I paid less than $10 for about 20 packs of these, tush and hover rigs.
I like a 2.5 to 3.5 is my go to for Bass fishing I'm going to try this out. Nice video like the 6 since Devin this looks good.
I got 6-1.1 and 7-1.1 it seems to be the right one's for what I do on baitcaster reel. Ned or drop shot 6-1.1 and spinners or swimming bait 7-1.1 for Bass and pike fishing. Trout fishing slower 5-1.1 size 10 Lew's Xfinity reel for bait and 6-2.1 size 30 ugly tuff reel for spinners. I'm the cheep guy. 😅
Whatever works is good. Cheap or not. Most of my stuff I luck into finding big deals on. I Ned fish on a spinning rod. Facebook marketplace can be a great source for cheap reels. I find NIB reels at a significant discount.
It's no different then a Carolina rig without sliding weight. When I first started fishing I used clam style weights and a live worm.
A Carolina rig is very similar if you don’t utilize a swivel and beads. You could definitely use a Carolina rig with these baits. I like the Drop shot weight as I can quickly change the leader and if I want to change to a free rig I can bend the top part as I showed in the video
This is not special as we used a Split Shot rig using a round # 3 or 4 Split Shot 18 to 24" above your hook...............4 to 8lbs Mono or Fluorocarbon, #4 or #6 circle or wire worm hook.........................Fishing 4" Handpours or Reapers only,,,,,,,,,,Anything else will cause line twist..........................This has been a standard rig in Socal for the past 40+ years...............................Fish it uphill or in flats!
Very nice. I like the drop shot weight it’s easier to move depending on what cover I’m fishing. I don’t get line twist with any of the baits I mentioned.
I was thinking the same thing...I have fished split-shot rigs since the late 80's. :)
@@addicted_to_fishing Then you are not experience enough on this technique. Any Boot or Curley tail will twist the line.....Especially on long casts..........
I fishes the spilt shot rig, just prefer this as I don’t kink the line and can move the length quickly.
I have been fishing for over 40 years and used this technique for 3. I don’t get line twist. Curly tails I’ve fished for decades without line twist. I fished the st.lawrence river since 1982 for big small mouths. Not only long cast but deep water. Never line twist.
A 21 minute video to tell us how gay you are. Nice
ooo hes so edgy
I appreciate the comment. You can have your opinion , just as I can have mine.
👊
Use mineral oil mixed with fish attractant for your marinade. Oil lasts longer in your lure.
👊
I have been doing the same treatment for many, many years. The one thing I've learned is soft. Plastic baits are impervious to any kind of absorption. I use a straightened hook and Pierce holes and my soft plastics. It holds a little attractant not much.
I generally stretch some of them out. I also marinate them for weeks when possible. The bite powder on the other hand is applied right before using. I’ve been doing this for decades. The only difference now versus then is I use the plastic container versus a bag.
What is the difference between that and the Catalina rig. Just the wight it seems like the same thing well the way it in the water. I want to try it out.
The Carolina rig has a swivel and generally some sort of clanking system. This does not have either. No leader, just a weight that can move up and down the line freely.
I'm just wondering if you tie the skirt up on the rubber band. I just got Booyah mini work great for my pond I fish
I don’t tie skirts. I buy skirts and typically use the hole in skirts as I can change them quickly and tend to last longer for me.
I like the 6th Sense the Devine swimbaits in 2.7 I think 🤔 that's the size in pro blue seems to work great. I need to try thim in more powns to see if there money.
I try not to limit myself to any one brand or style. They all have similar, but different action and fall rates. The divine are great swim baits
Good stuff all of it
Thank you brother
great juice i appreciate the longer videos you’ve been doing
Thanks 👊
Nice vid! I make what I call STANK in water not oil. Its Crawfish powder, pieces, worm powder, salt, anise which I dip my plastics in. I also infuse them all with STANK when I am making my own plastics. I may start adding bacon or garlic soon?? 😅
Nice. I pour lead and don’t have much time for that let alone plastics. I ask for scent when I buy from a small side business. They always give me a good dose as it ships. Some baits I stretch to take some of the salt out. I don’t mind it but some baits are loaded with it. It helps the bait sink but some baits have salt like McDonald’s fries 🤣
Cool Video
Thanks 👊
What does the scents do? I have tried Berkeley, Pro Cure, and Dr Juice. Caught nothing and no bites.
For me scent does a lot. If I buy baits that have a harsh smell, I just marinate them and it typically goes away. I also find fish hold on to the bait a lot longer with scent. I’ve fished the same bait behind a buddy and I caught more fish. Maybe it wasn’t the scent, but we tried to fish as close as possible, same rod movement and all, to see if scent made a difference. There are many variables, but when he switched to a plastic from the scent bag he caught more fish. Scent is not the only factor to catching more fish. Knowing where bass move and finding a pattern is key as well. I rotate through techniques and baits till I get bit and work from there.
I had really good luck back in the day with Producto lunker lotion, that stuff smelled like the old man's grape worms. It was nice because it was a pleasant fragrance, and didn't stink up my worm bag, and everything else. That and it just seemed to work real well. I actually have an old bottle but it doesn't smell like grape anymore, it's more like rancid vegetable oil, but I tried it and it still seemed to attract the bass!......FishOn.....Jim
I use the Plano Liqua Bait Storage bottles to marinate. They're stupidly expensive for what they are but they're the only container I found that is basically perfect for the job.
I looked at those and thought about ordering some. The cost is what lead me to these water proof containers.
EBI stands for “ebi”. I Japanese it means shrimp. Typically a freshwater, very sweet tasting shrimp. Hope that helps. Great video. Learned a bunch. Thanks!!
Correct. Shrimp is one of the better scents to use,IMO anyway. I’ve used so many brands over the years and Norries came highly recommended from a few fellow anglers that brought them into the states. None of the online tackle stores have any of the JDM scents.
I just bought some soft swimbaits online that showed up and have a harsh chemically/rubbery smell. Washing them with some soapy water did nothing. I think I'll try your method of marinating them to see if that can overpower it, thanks for the tip!
I do this with any soft plastic that has that smell. The trick with scents is to marinate them and not spray and go. You can also use an injector and inject the baits with scent
Was it the 6th Sense Panorama?
Those have a nasty smell. A lot of the baits I order off the CDM market also have that smell.
@@addicted_to_fishing I love the Panorama, but the smell is overwhelming, especially the 9 inch size. What I did was take the baits out of the container and let them air out for 3 days. This reduced the smell by roughly 80% I'd say. Then I marinate the baits in Pro-Cure bait oil. Now that awful smell is basically undetectable.
@dtffishingmi awesome! I have the smaller version and they smelled awful. I soaked them in some Berkeley power bait liquid and the smell was gone. Almost any scent works and allowing them to marinate works best
do you ever use the creme reel screamers? i get hit on those more than any other swimbait the whole body rocks crazy i like them with an under spin
I have used them in the past. The scremer is a fantastic little bait.
Those tush work good but they trash the baits
I don’t think they tear baits any more than the ones with the double wire keeper. I catch a pile of fish on the same bait before they are ready to be swapped out. Baits that are poured with very soft plastic tear no matter the keeper or in the case on a tush.
glad you’re back we need more of this non boater juice and i agree about the resurgence of small minnow baits for bass fishing i have all these bobby garlands but i don’t crappie fish i always just liked the baits and the colors so i want to incorporate them into my finesse bass presentations
I use Bobby garland and other crappie baits for bass all the time. When I notice most of the bait in the water being tiny, around September, I turn to those baits and catch bass all day. Another good example is the float and fly.
HECKKKKK YEAH
Yeah buddddddddy
Junk they rip way too easy. They need to come up with a better system. Don’t waste your money, one fish and its history.
I have found that using 2 rigs I get more “life” out of them. The first is a screw lock into the nose or the tush from core tackle. The tush seems to be the better of the 2. Longer life and actually more of a natural presentation.
i have those jigs the rattles are cool you can take them off and put them in a worm
I buy the rattles and use them on a regular basis for many applications. Worms, jigs, chatters, spinnerbaits and even swim baits.
If you are going to nose rig it on a drop shot, I would recommend picking up some Small owner cps springs to screw into the nose to keep it from immediately torn off because they really are like paper and get shredded easily.
Exactly what I do
panoramas are good to me i use the two smallest sizes i don’t have the hooks for the two big sizes the last me about 3-4 fish before they are toast but for me that’s worth it for the results
I tossed one around Tuesday for a short time. No bites but I seen the potential in a few riggings. I wasn’t looking to get bit exactly, rather find the action I liked
welcome back friend that’s a good reason to be too busy for youtube!!
It’s getting better and I can do more now
😂😂😂
Really enjoy squarebill fishing. I live in South Louisiana and was throwing a 13 Fishing Jabberjaw and Warthog today inbetween a spinnerbait and weightless Zoom trick worm...had a good day!
Any day fishing is a good day. Squarebill fishing is some of my favorite
richard gene sounds like a guy i would enjoy i love the off target species channels
For sure. He has a great channel.
@@addicted_to_fishingand good luck on the restaurant! that’s awesome what kinda food?
Chicken. And thank you
those damn 6th sense sonar minnows are the greatest for me i don’t even care they only last like two fish i’ve been using more rigs than ever just as an excuse to throw one on this free rig is another thing for me to try i had seen the technique but i didn’t realize there was a stopper so i never tried it because it didn’t make sense now it does
I use the stopper or stoppers. Some don’t. This is what works best for me and I hope it does you as well. The stopper to me allows more movement in the bait. I’ll even swim this rig and not let it hit bottom. Just depends on what is on bottom.
personally i love longer videos always the thing that annoys me about cheaper spinnerbaits is sometimes (maybe my fault?) the braid somehow gets wrapped on the arm and winds up pinched in the wire where the knot is tied or even around the swivels of the blade and i have to check for that
Just trying to mix it up on video length. 1.5k people watched a video and only 106 are subscribers. The hack works. I don’t find many times I need to do it. With braid I tie the palomar knot.
it’s easier to slow down the crank speed than it is to have to speed it up def err on the side of a faster reel even if you have to sacrifice some torque im gonna be reeling more of the day than i will be fighting the fish of a lifetime 😂
True the technique I’m using this reel for won’t need high speed
Hey John!
Hey buddy Mattttttttt!!!
How are you doin!!??
@robo200m good and you?
congrats on the new store location
Just my tackle room
love that color 1:37 i’ve got some sluggos that color in the mail comin
The chartreuse blue? That color gets smashed!
@@addicted_to_fishing oops i think it’s more of a chartreuse and green but i always get hooked on that combo of half and half chartereuse and blues/greens/bluegreens i see it and i want to buy
I lose over $400 worth of lures every year. Never used one of these. Do you just slide it down your line until it lands on the lure and try to snag it?
Yes. The lure retriever goes over the line and done the line. Usually a “pop” or 2 and it’s free. I’ve saved a ton of money !
I have the same Lure retriever but I have mine tied to an Orange buoy so while I’m using it and drop the line it saves it plus easy wrapping it up
It works great. More times than not I use the sinkers with the metal loop at the top and a snap. I do a lot of walking to some of my spots and these fit my pocket and keep my tackle lite. The buoy is a great idea.
Places like Ollie's will always have one or two gems you can't find anywhere else because no one tackle shops at Ollie's and everywhere else is sold out.
My Ollie’s sells out of the gems in a couple days. There are a lot of resellers near me. If I see something I like I don’t wait to buy it
almost bought one of those plug knockers a month ago decided to buy some lures instead and proceeded to lose those lures and two others instead over the next month😂 also i recommend a pole pruner for people like me that lose just as many up in trees at least to keep in the car and hike back to it also old fishing line is the worst!
Sounds like it’s time to make one or buy one
@@addicted_to_fishing yea i’m going to make one with sinkers like you said i don’t use sinkers for anything else
I like those as I can carry them in my pocket and they are dirt cheap and work. I like the 1oz with the metal hanger on top
