I am associated with all the videos in this Channel in one way or another.
Banner photo: Pike Place Market, Seattle, WA, USA (1912)
This channel is primarily composed of videos of audio home recordings (many made in the early 1980s on Teac 4-track cassette recorders: Teac 144 and 246); recordings of live gigs of bands I have been in (Box of Daylight & others), or recorded for others (such as the folk group Clallam County); and other videos I have created that often relate to the Puget Sound area (Seattle, Everett, etc.). Plus some odds and ends. Virtually all videos have some connection to the greater Seattle area.
Main Spuzzy Largo Channel logo created by, and courtesy of, Pete Dunthorne (Skagit County, WA, USA) circa mid-1980s.
As Grandpa Sanstol Pete would often say: "Memories are life's handshake with the heart." These videos bring back lots of memories for me. And, I hope, for my friends who helped create them. And we all shine on ...

"Emma Peel" video by The Allies (1982) Written by Carl Funk & David Kincaid The Allies were one of the first Seattle bands to have a video on MTV. The group won one of MTV's Basement Tapes contests with this video. (The Allies had started in the Oak Harbor, WA area in the mid-1970s as Pegasus, which morphed into Shadowfax. The Allies later became The Brandos by the early 1990s, moved east, then...

It actually helped me! Thank!
Unfortunately it's not really a "FIX" because while it does work to open the door and get the cassette out, when you put the unit back together and resume use it will just do the same thing over again and the door won't open. Pushing the flywheel clockwise gets the door open and nothing else. There must be an adjustment to permanently solve the issue. More than likely new belts will solve the problem. But if nothing else, with this tip you can at least get your cassette back out of the machine.
Thanks, I've got a Kenwood KX-W8060, same problem, gotta try it.
I just wanted to thank you for the fix. I have a Sansui D77-F that I just got at auction. I put a cassette in to test it and it was locked up. Couldn't play, couldn't rewind or FF - AND most especially the cassette door was locked. Your video Solved the prolem in two minutes! Thank you so much for posting it and a BIG shout out to the the tech who shared the fix with you. You are the man!!!
Thank you very much sir. Greetings from argentina
This literally happened to me today about an hour ago, and to see that this somehow works baffles me, but I'm glad it worked.
Fantastic appreciate your video i nearly gave up at 1st attempt decided to try rotating spool again but for longer period Hey Presto opened up 😮 Unfortunately the tape C120 had snapped i was curious as no indication written on, what is it about 120's that's troublesome anyone else had bother Thanks Again 😊
Thank you! We were able to unjam our cassette player
Never seen this before Ric, Thanks for posting . I remember this show well <3 Im not sue where it was..... but I'm thinking at a bar in Northgate... just before were asked if we wanted to open for Iron Butterly at the Ballard Firehouse.
I didn't play on this one. I would have been a lot more creative on the accents, and progressive keys. I actually did it on other versions, but not this one.
I''ve always loved your songs, Ric... many are better than mine. I was just honored to put my trademark as a keyboard player on your stuff. So easy to orchestrate around... and loved the fact that I had Mike Pinder's (Moody Blues) mellotron. What an experience. Keep in touch my friend. =)
Love (and loved) this song But prefer the version I played on. =)
Love the version I played on with Pinder's Mellotron better. Just saying.....but still a great song, Ric. Would love to play with you again, buddy!!!
Love it!! And yes.. I played on a couple of versions of this song. Brigs back memories!!!... Thanks Ric!!! Oh yes!! That's me on the mellotron!!
Love this... and was pleasure to record on your songs. They are all great... and am glad to be a part of it. Would love to perform them again. =) <3
Lyrics are very close to what I wrote. LOL Not sure if I've ever heard this version of my song. =) But glad it exists on the internet. =)
??? This is not me... nor is it anything that has to do with me.
PS I wrote and copyrighted the song. So FU
worked on a NAD 6100! respect!
Worked like a charm on my Onkyo. Thank You!
THANK YOU for posting this! So helpful! I am so relieved to have my tape deck working again, and with such a simple fix.
O my God, I was in a big trouble on a tape deck of KENẀOOD stereo cassette deck, model No. KX-51B And I turnd that belt as you said, and automatically worked, Glad to see your video, sending love to you frome Ethiopia 🇪🇹. Thank you very much Sir.🥰🥰
Cool. This stuck door on my tascam 112 has been driving me crazy so I will try this tip, thanks.
Hi Ric, I remember this song from a very long time ago. I was half my age then! I hope that you are well and thriving, and still making Music. I thought that I saw you listed at Tulalip recently. Respect, Steve.
Steve, the singer?
Yes sir!
I have the same problem. Ty. Going to try it soon
Thank you so much sir.. very helpful for me.. 🙏
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! You just saved me a $100 eBay sale!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Oh my goodness! This worked.
As a follow up this was a temporary fix but replacing the belt made it a permanent fix. I lubricated my motors while I was in there.
I never knew all of those years ago that I would play this song now because my Mother ran out of time yesterday. 💔
Hello ! Time always passes and our memories fade like a rose. We are here to collect your concert memories in one place. I am working on a project and in this project I want to collect and synchronize 8mm/16mm films from The Beatles and the Beatles/Solo years and then share them! Paul McCartney and George Harrison gave truly excellent concerts. Harrison's 1974 North America tour and Paul McCartney&Wings years were especially magnificent. Please feel free to reach us , Have a good day ! Stay well
Does NOT worked on Kenwood kx-w892 tape deck
If you figure out a solution to that deck, please share with us. 🎉
Worked like a charm! Thanks 🙏🏽
You're welcome!
Can’t believe this actually worked. So simple yet I’d never have known to do that. Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Oh! Thanks a lot! It just happened to me today, and I was kind of desesperated about it, because the casset stuck in it is unique, and I cannot loose it. I really appreciate your video, and it's clearly explained. I'll try it.
Hubby bought a tape player at the flea market today and was so excited to hook it up and try it out. The eject button wouldn't work. He was so irritated. I told him about your video, but he found something else that included several steps, replacing parts, etc. He walked away from it. Now he's fallen asleep, and I snuck it away and fixed it by following your video. Whether it actually works is another story, but at least now he can put a tape in and find out. Thanks!
Wife of the year right here!
I remember these sessions, and I bought the tape once it was released! Good times, thanks for posting and jump-stating the great memories.
More to come this year, once my tape deck gets its belts replaced.
Love thee old aiwas!
When I took it to John of Renton for calibration, he told me my Aiwa was a top-notch player.
Thank you. Thank you. Finally solved my problem. Have a beer on me. :)
So I have to take apart my Panasonic boom box to fix the deck that's not working? Sigh. I'll have to try it. I'm afraid the working deck will fail next. Thanks for the lesson!
These are awesome. Thanks so much for uploading them. So many great unreleased tunes. Especially exciting to hear something else from Rooster Tails. Much like every single Washington State band who made it onto "MTV Basement Tapes" and who weren't named Rail or The Allies, they were losers on that show. (Well, there was a string of 2nd place finishes...) Although the guy who beat them in semis, Joe Salvo, did get nipped in finals by Rail, so there's that.
Thanks for the nice words. I have some two to three more hours to digitize and upload, but my cassette tape deck is getting new belts installed. Hoping to continue the project early next year. 🙏
According to everything I've read, it was shot in dribs and drabs between November '82 and January '83 (with the band members' scenes all shot in one long day in January '83). No? I know production was delayed from a planned August '82 shoot, and then they went back and reshot some things. The band weren't happy with the first cut. After lengthy post-production, it was reportedly completed in March '83 and premiered at Astor Park in May '83. Babes in Boyland (best known for featuring all the members of The Allies Kincaid fired and/or drove away... and all of Cynthia Frazzini's/Cyndy Knowles' ex-husbands) -- their clip for "Rough Boy" was shot around the same time, I believe. I'm sure the only reason The Allies even were on "Basement Tapes" at all was because Kincaid was jealous that Steve Adamek got on it first. Every single newspaper clipping I have of him discussing the show, he's complaining about it. He was complaining about it before he was on it. He was complaining about it while he was on it. And he was complaining about it after he was on it.
Yeppers this gonna get "canceled "

To this day this still reverberates.
Outstanding video, thank you. My JVC has an additional latch next to that wheel that I needed to shift clockwise, too. Your video made it easy to find. The tape deck still doesn't open unless I nudge that arm manually, so it'll need to be replaced, unfortunately. At least I could find the problem and got my old cassette tape out.
If it happens one time it will happen again but It worked. We haven't nothing to lose. I Had two decks with the same issue. The problem is that I forced the door on the first one and now I have to fix the door mechanism. It is a JVC in mint condition but now it is not. Then I found this video. I was also told by a guy about this trick but I had to see the video to understand what he was saying. Watching the video I fixed the Pioneer one and that's good news. I don't know when this happens again but I am OK at the moment. What we need is good new decks. These are ageing.
I watched a video recently where modern decks were measured against some of these old relics, and sadly the specs just didn't compete. In general, those old decks were solidly built. I know my old Aiwa was.
don't have this deck, but having similar problem on my JVC. I'll try it Spuzzy. Thanks!
Spuzzy, thx for the comment like.....did that guy John say WHY this happens?? Just wondering.
No, he did not. But apparently it's a common enough problem.
@@StockDude Tape decks are ageing
Well they will like everything electrical.
Pat O Day KJr do you want to come to my jail horse party don't neigh or you will be a sleigh ride
This land is your land should & really ought to be the national anthem of the United States which is very easy to sing to and describes the various areas of the United States. Many school children sing it after having said the Pledge of alligence. My late daughter and late youngest son sang This land is your land after they said the Pledge of alligence in school. I have called my former do nothing Congressman and my SenTors in Arizona suggesting that This land is your land be made the national anthem. The late Robert F.Kennedy Senior wanted to have This land is your land be made the national anthem, it wasen’t at all for no reason.
My grandfather once wrote that our current national anthem is too difficult for most people to sing.
