    The Constitution’s First Amendment prohibits the government from establishing a specific religion. I am a Christian, but I am opposed to the Bible in public schools, and for formal prayer in schools. The US is a melting pot. If one faith group is represented in public schools, then all (or none) should be in the schools. My parents and my church instilled my Christian values. My parents didn’t rely upon my school to do that. Re: “Woke”….please read the article by Russell Moore, in which he addresses the issue some congregants have had with preaching the Beatitudes. They said it is woke, and when told that those were the teachings of Christ, the congregants said that those teachings don’t work for them, that they are “weak”. ☮️🙏

    So, what you’re saying is, as Christians we should live lives of restraining our flesh, to avoid sin, and not live as those who spend their lives indulging their flesh. Is that an accurate summary? I hope not. Because, whether we live lives of indulging our flesh or restraining our flesh, we would still be living by the flesh. As Christians we should live by the Spirit and not by the flesh. Anyone can live a life of good works, of loving others, but that does not require faith in Christ. Good people are not saved. It’s those who have been born again by the Holy Spirit who are saved. God bless.

      @ Greetings and thank you for your response. The issue I see with 1John is that it’s written to two different groups. Unbelievers and believers, in that order. 1John 1 is to unbelievers while 2 is to believers. John has a tendency to ride the fence between grace and works, as seen in chapter 3. That or John is double-minded in his belief about how we should live as Christians. This is to be expected since John was very close to our Lord but also buddies with the high priest, Annas. It’s like he did not want to offend Jews but still share the Gospel. How can we balance what he wrote in chapter 1 where he writes that if we say we have no sin we are liars and then say that if we have the Holy Spirit we cannot sin. It’s a contradiction. Unless he’s writing from the point of view of the New Covenant where God no longer holds our sins against us. Then it makes sense. But if our sins are not counted against us then neither do our “good works” count for us either. The gospel is not about what we think we can do for God but rather what He has done for us. The world has been forgiven of its sin but that does not mean the world is saved. Best wishes and Merry Christmas.

    Seriously? I didn't hear one word of practical application. Maybe that is why you call yourself a Baptist. They accused Jesus of being a drunkard and a glutton. The friend of the most despicable people. He went to those who were despised that no one else would. What are the misdeeds of the body? First of all people wanted to make a name for themselves so they called themselves things like Baptist and Mormon and Pentecostal etc... how many demonisations are there of the Holy Spirit? The spirit of the world attempted to make a name for themselves!!! This is pride! Let's start there! What name did God call his own? If indeed he did call you? Are you not to feed your enemy and clothe him and give him something to drink? If you think works are something that you can boast about! Does God save people by grace through faith because of something they do or because of his mercy? Smh! So many just have a book!!! How are you to live? Are you wise enough to understand that you do not answer a wicked man according to his way but answer him in a way that is different than his? Does God's kindness lead us to him or his judgement and condemnation? How are you to live? So many people call themselves pastors because they received a certificate from a school and were taught how to babble and yet say nothing practical to instruct infants! It is not what goes into the body that makes someone unclean but it is their thoughts and attitudes that make them unclean! Does eating and drinking or abstaining from eating and drinking draw us nearer to God? Absolutely not! Everything is permissible for me but not everything is beneficial. Do not curse but bless if you want to inherit the blessing! Practical commands are to do good to others even those who hate you and despise you and say all kinds of evil things against you. For who is the slanderer? Isn't he the one who opposes everything that is right, just and true! Fear God and will keep away from all extremes! But be careful because a little here and a little there and do and do and rule on rule leads to destruction. What was taboo then is acceptable now! How will escape the snares of the world except you live quiet and peaceful lives in this corrupt generation and mind your own business if you want peace! His command is wait for the Lord, be still and he will accomplish his purpose. Is there anything you can do for God or give to him as so many claim they do! Lord have mercy on them who think they will obtain righteousness through works of the law! Live by the spirit and you will not gratify the sinful desires of the flesh - selfish ambition begins with calling yourself a Baptist when this is not what God calls us! A double edged sword comes from his mouth. People are so double minded. The mind of the spirit is life and peace. But the mind of the flesh is death! You cannot serve two masters!

      @iwitness8622 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is much to say folks but this is just text. One thing people must be aware of is flattering spirits! They will change their voices rather than speak to you as a man as a friend to your face. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of its guilt in regard to sin and in regard to righteousness and in regard to judgment. Learn to judge rightly for the Lord desires obedience rather than sacrifice! Deny yourself and you've taken the first step to his righteousness which is by faith. How is faith enacted upon? Daddy you promised! Reasoning that God is able to do exactly what he said he will do. And that is he will lead many to righteousness and usher in justice.

    We have to WORK, we are responsible for a family and we cannot completely refuse the social demands, constraints and usual behavior! In this system it is almost impossible to live like an “authentic Christian”. Anyone who doesn't play along will go down mercilessly, have existential problems and soon lose their family and circle of friends! Unfortunately, religion is a purely private matter; as a believer you are essentially forced to lead a double life.

    • @HollyGodfrey-m2n
      @HollyGodfrey-m2n 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What is an "authentic Christian?" Isn't it someone who follows Jesus' teachings? How does that require living a double life (unless you're trying to live up to someone else's definition of Christian)? Jesus said that the two great commandments were: "love God with all your heart and soul and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Do these and you shall have eternal life." You can do (and Jesus expected his followers to do) these things in every aspect of life; family, employment, social, church, neighborhood, even politics. Being an "authentic Christian" is not about what you do; it's about HOW you do it--with love. Do your best to think and express love in all your daily interactions, and you will be "an authentic Christian".

    A person can teach / believe correct Bible doctrine . . . . and still be lost . . . . I know because I was one of those. I attended church Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, Wednesday evenings, taught the 6-12 year old Sunday school class, worked with the youth, memorized scripture, participated in the men's groups, professed to be a Bible believing Christian for 38+ years . . . however, I did not LIVE like a Christian . . . . at all. Then about three years ago, God called me to repentance. Not sure why as I had gone to where the first words out of my mouth when I woke up were "I hate you Gd" and those were the last words I said before I went to sleep . . . The first thing I did was go find a Bible and even though I had had several, I could not find even one . . . So I immediately went and bought one. Next I read 1 John. 1 John 2:4 says if you CLAIM to be a Christian but do not LIVE like a Christian, you are a LIAR and the truth is not in you . . . I was a LIAR those 38+ years. A FAKE LOST professing Christian. I am so grateful to God Who could have just hardened my heart as He did Pharaoh's . . . . I in these last three years have lived like a Christian. And yes, I know we are not saved by our works or by 'living like a Christian'. But I do know if you are a genuine Christian, really saved, your life will be different. One of the things I did EVERY DAY was go to inappropriate web sites . . . . I have not been to an inappropriate website since God got me right. Also one of the first things I did was go and ask for forgiveness from my wife. I gave her every reason to quit going to church, give up on being a Christian since her husband was a fake Christian and she knew it. Anyhow, I hope this might cause others who claim to be a Christian and maybe even believe correct doctrine to examine their lives and make sure they are really saved. The Lord impressed upon me that judgment IS coming, time IS running out and NO Christian wants ANYONE to go to hell. But even if judgment doesn't come for another ten days, ten years or ten decades, it won't matter to the person who is dead next week. David Adams, Mobile, AL

I wonder how many Christians realize how significant Anselm, a former Archbishop of Canterbury, who lived about 1000 years after Christ, was in the formation of the doctrine of Original Sin, so much beloved by Calvin and Luther. Up to Anselm there was definitely a concept of Original Sin. Paul had a prototype version, but the most important early proponent was Augustine, who lived 400 years or so after Christ. Certainly the concept has dominated much Christian theology. But it is theology. Christ did not preach it. It was devised by members of the religious Establishment like Augustine and Anselm, as a means to keep the common people in line. Guilty people are much easier to control. It is still promoted by the same group today. It is a terribly unjust doctrine. People are deemed guilty of something they never did. It is also tremendously cruel. If you don't go to church on the true Sabbath aka Saturday. You're not a true follower of Christ because he kept the Sabbath

      Man was not made for the sabbath but the sabbath was made for man. You are making the same mistake that the Pharisees did. Christ is the sabbath. Try again.

    That being said, we agree that abortion is murder. However, there are a lot of things that are legal that are also sins, and “if a man keeps all the law, yet stumbles in one point, he is guilty of all”.

    Just you being a pastor makes you a false prophet from biblical standards. Turning the word of God into a business to sustain yourself rather than actually learning a skill has absolutely no biblical example. Dedicating time, energy, and financial resources to nonsense “education” as an attempt to validate your non-biblical profession, and the boy actually further divide the church into its sects and denominations. Itchy ears preaching as the only way to ensure that the business that is your church continues to sustain your way of life is exactly why the American church is a total joke. “Many will say to me on that day Lord Lord”. Examine yourself. This isn’t Judaism, you’re not a Levite, the church isn’t a building, tithes are not a New Testament; and therefore, Christian, principle, you’re not deserving to speak on behalf of God because of your education, etc, etc, etc
