Washing poop off of the grain combine.
We are getting the combine ready for harvest! I complain about raccoons and their poop some more. The next day I drive a forklift, get some steps, talk about our lack of an employee, and Phillip fixes some holes in the combine. Oh what a day that day was.

Welcome to Farming in the 208! I was born and raised in Idaho, and after working as a mechanic for several years, came back to farming full time. It's just in my blood. We grow (famous Idaho) potatoes along with wheat. I am partnered with my brother, Phillip, and we have one employee, who is also family.
I made this channel because I wanted to show just how much hard work, time, and dedication goes into producing a crop that ends up on your local grocery store shelves. We always want to produce the best crop possible and so much effort goes into that. I hope you'll enjoy watching my day-to-day life on the farm. Even if you don't know much about agriculture, maybe my story will still be entertaining.
Oh, and my videos are edited by my wife who finds my mistakes hilarious.

fixing the grain combine & pulling out a truck stuck in my muddy field

We fix the combine that's only been broken since last year. It's fine. I jinx a truck driver into getting stuck in my muddy field so I take a tractor and save the day. I clean said tractor and then Phillip gets in dirty again. It's hot and bright. #stucktruck #graincombine #johndeere Instagram: farminginthe208 Welcome to Farming in the 208! I'm frustrated.

I'm a lot a bit frustrated as I (once again) run out of potato seed. But then I get over it. I unload the potato seed when it arrives, jump my commander, and eat a snickers. Look, you and I both know that the videos are way behind. I'm gonna get caught up. So caught up like you wouldn't believe. #farmlife #plantingseason #planting Instagram: farminginthe208 Welcome to Farming in ...

I'm out of seed and out of control. Not really. I dig a lot of holes and it rains on me again. When more potato seed finally arrives I go to unload the semi and have a ball. And it's dark. Planting and rainstorms are not a good combination.

I'm planting potatoes in the rain. Planting is the opposite of harvesting. Dax is with me and he talks a lot. Like a lot, a lot. It's cool. He's a delight. I don't get to clean my dirty tractor, and how annoying is that? Instagram: farminginthe208 Welcome to Farming in the 208! Head out of butt. Our current "govt" is shutting down our food supply. Taking complete control.

    “Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!” (Isaiah 28:1). The drunkards of Ephraim are bought off by vast sums of wicked money (wine) from parasitic globalist government and betray the pioneer era magnificence of making the desert blossom as the rose (becoming fat valleys) with all of that industrious building of dams, canals, reservoirs, ditches and irrigation. The parasitic political class with their behind the scenes handlers war against food production. This is not by accident. This is calculated in its timing, it’s criminal and wicked. The elite predator class are going against humanity in every way they can, and they wish to have the fat valleys fail and dry up as a dead flower. Stupid people will support this, cheer and bootlick the politicians, and it’s legions of parasitic officers as These same people will be wrecked with food prices they skyrocket as the government they hold up as god, breeds famine. Anyone with any clue, versed on what’s happening with access to the few and rare feee speech platforms, know of the gargantuan war globally on farmers and food production. “Behold, the enemy is combined,” is a phrase out of scripture, and Utah and Idaho governors, some legislators, and many officials are warring upon agricultural use of water. They all seem to be beholden to Klaus Schwab’s vision that: “You will own nothing and you will be happy.” The parasites further would like you to “eat bugs” rather than potatoes. th-cam.com/video/7arRLma19hQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HFmMngg6LrLynKHN

    Oh those evil farmers. Really, whose insane idea was this ? So are we now supposed to import these food commodities now. That's grear for our economy and national security. Do they think this won't push food prices higher ? Impeach and remove the people behind this movement.

    We had one neighbor with a thunderbird wheelline. All the other ones we had the mover in the middle. This was 30 years ago. Now basically no wheellines left, All pivots.

    • @Farminginthe208
      @Farminginthe208 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pivots are definitely easier to deal with. Unfortunately some of our field shapes don't work with pivots.

    Hello Matthew. I saw on your videos, that you are using 2 different types of irrigation machine - Valley and wheel line machine. Can you please advise which is better, which is easy to operate, and which is broken rarely? Which you would prefer better to use in overall. Thanks

    • @Farminginthe208
      @Farminginthe208 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We prefer pivots over wheel lines. Both work well if we stay up on maintenance. The pivot takes less man power to stay on top of keeping the crops watered.

    What tractor are you pulling it with? We're interested in one of those 5 meter karat chisel plows but not sure if we have enough power. Lemken says 175 to 350hp but that doesn't really narrow it down for us.

    • @Farminginthe208
      @Farminginthe208 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using an 8320r. It will pull it as long as we don't go too deep. We used an 8360r last fall to deep work and had to put the straight points on to be able to pull it at 14 inches and maintain 5mph.
