Only reason why MC forgave Kaede for the killing was because she is a cute girl.
That's a very shallow interpretation. First of all he did not fully forgive her and hates what she did to him, but he still loves the girl her met in the forest and then at the beach. He probably also understands she was not completely in control over her actions and he knows how much she hates herself for what she did

Imo, she's my favorite anime female character. While I root for her entire character, I don't think Lucy should be forgiven but Kaede and Nyu should. Lucy is more of the DNA voice or what drived her to kill is. That being said, you ain't a bad person for believing that, as she is relatable in a society that can make or break people, similar to ours just exaggerated, and had so many different pressures that turned her into a killer, which Kaede even hates about herself in the manga. I do think Lucy does deserve punishment as that persona is a murderer but Kaede and Nyu deserve all the love in the world if that makes sense. Sorry if I confused you, I read the manga and that's her actual name before the personality split and government involvement.

@@brucejedilee5290 Where are you getting at? (Genuinely curious) I'm agreeing with op, just stating Lucy and Kaede are different entities. Kaede didn't murder people intentionally while Lucy is the DNA voice who would take control or manipulate Kaede. The torture mainly effects Kaede here which is why I feel bad for Kaede, but Lucy is different. She's what people feared but they helped create a monster. A different persona that WAS what people feared. Kaede once again deserves love and actual happiness, I don't think Lucy does as she's not the girl who had hardships, she used that girl's hardships to manipulate her into killing. If you mean Lucy was tortured as well I'd agree, that's not right in any sense. However, Lucy was the one that made Kaede give up control, manipulate Kaede into killing and act like she's her buddy. That's all the DNA voice is. The character in whole deserves happiness, agreeing with op yet again. But I was going into specifics.
Life is not white and black . Lucy is problematic character with dark past. But she confronts her demons and reborn to real lucy. Lucy with puppy and young kota.🎉😢❤

Even though this song sounds happy, the meaning of this song (as seen from the lyrics) is very sad. Just shows how even though Kaede/Lucy/Nyu is with Kouta and loves him, she still can't be his girlfriend.
The song sounds but happy and sad. It really takes me back to the 2000s
Well who knows? The ending implies she lived and returned to the house so perhaps they got a happy ending.
