Reviving a '99 Vulcan
On this round I stripped the Vulcan down and replaced the tired, front brakes and carburetor. I planned on doing rear brakes too but I dropped and cracked one of the replacement shoes so no rears this time. The bike sounds like it runs great, just needs some throttle cable adjustment, an oil change and some new lights to put it back on the road totally healthy

Cleaning up a Crusty '99 Kawasaki Vulcan
มุมมอง 39711 หลายเดือนก่อน
I picked up a 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 for no other reason than it was a good deal and I see potential in it.Today I'm just cleaning the years of dust off it to get a good vision and some inspiration behind it. Next round with this thing will be rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the busted fender, turn signals, mirror and at least the front tire if not both. From there I'll be putting it up ...
Introducing my '82 Chevy G20

Last night after work I got to do just enough to the van to take it on a test drive and know that the bones are still solid. I'm so excited to having this thing back to moving and on the road. I'm really hoping to dig into that suspension soon before it gets cold

Sorry about the dirty camera on this one guys and gals I didn't notice until my footage was uploaded. Anyways I just wanted to touch base with you folks cause it's been a few weeks and I'm itching for something new to do. I'll see y'all soon when we get this Impala (or something else) and we go through it. I'm excited to show y'all the van. That thing has so much potential
New Brakes/Rotors for the '84 Cavalier

Installing New Headliner in '84 Chevy Cavalier
มุมมอง 150ปีที่แล้ว
On this round I learned about replacing headliner and it was a fantastic experience. It was my favorite kind because it didn't cost me anything, it was something I needed to learn and I was able to do it on something that the mistakes don't matter much on. I love the way this turned out and I actually look forward to doing this again

Flipping Lid on Air Cleaner 1965 Galaxie

Today I experimented with flipping over the lid on the air cleaner on the Galaxie. I've heard tons of times if you flip the lid over you get increased airflow which translates into more horseys. After playing with it it definitely seems like it makes a difference but i'm going to keep it normal for the time being considering the age of the engine and the fact i'm still struggling to keep it fro...

    If there is a 4 barrel on top of that 352 or whatever it is , I do not think the secondaries are opening all the way, are you sure about getting full throttle ? a Rochester 2 barrel makes more carb noise than this thing , regardless of yoour lid flipping , get your exhaust leaks sorted out and check for full throttle , make sure everything like linkage travel etc is right before you waste gas and time with the lid flip , I did not hear those secondaries , also , check distributor / vacum advance etc , put the right curve in that thing and get full throttle / 4 Barrels working and you will have a different experience than now

And sure enough you look under my hood and all the fiberglass I should have been protecting my hood from the heat was gone yep sucked down the carburetor.... Only to find out many many years later I was only sucking in hotter air and was doing no good at all.... A boy did it sound good. 😁😁😁

    Geez, I wanted a Honda Shadow as my 3rd Honda, now I want to buy a BMW instead. I don't know how you'd ever do a top end job on that. There's no way to get the cylinder heads out without disassembling the whole friggin bike. Sounds rough. That's why you don't stick a broom handle up the muffler to destroy it and make it louder :-)

    Don’t adjust that “idle speed” screw, you are essentially bypassing the idle circuit those butterflies on the bottom of the carb should be square with the idle circuit if adjusted properly. Your idle circuit isn’t getting enough fuel. Hence the dying when the carb was adjusted to where it was running just off of the idle circuit. With that screw turned in, it does up the idle speed but that’s because you are literally dumping fuel into the intake like your foot is pressing on the gas lightly. If you get the engine hot with it adjusted like that, the likelihood of the engine dieseling is much greater. The carb, if the fuel pump is delivering enough fuel pressure, needs a good cleaning/rebuild…..it’s tiny passages are likely gummed up and partially blocked. (This is coming from our drummer)

    • @ClappedCarRevival
      @ClappedCarRevival ปีที่แล้ว

      It was having that dieseling issue when it was running high like that but I’ve since rebuilt the carburetor and got a lot of junk out of the fuel system. It breathes much better these days

    My first car was a 65 Galaxie 500 with the LTD option. 390, auto, p/s, p/b, air, vinyl roof, and AM/FM stereo! Dark green, white vinyl. I got it in 1968 to go back and forth to a close college. When it ran right, it was a great car, but it had some strange occurrences. It would play dead sometimes only to come to life 10 minutes later, the gas pedal broke in half, and the linkage would stick sometimes. It was very powerful and luxurious. My dad traded it in in 1970. It was starting to get a little too unreliable.

    My Dad had one of these when I was growing up but his was the cheap ol Custom version with the 240 six and three on the tree and overdrive. Never saw a car that new with overdrive.It was a tough ol ride,he must have had it for 15 years at least. And then I got a hold of it. I beat it to death but it still ran when it retired to the junk yard. Another one of the stupid things I did to cars in my youth.

    • @MisterMikeTexas
      @MisterMikeTexas ปีที่แล้ว

      My Dad bought a new 1966 Galaxie 500 Club Coupe off the showroom floor, he told me. I remember it fairly well, but I was a toddler then. He later told me it was the Six and 3 on the tree, rare for a Galaxie. He regretted buying the 240 Six, wasn't impressed with the power. The following year, he traded it in for a new Wimbledon White Custom 500 4 door sedan, this one with the regular fuel version of the 390, and automatic. It was our family car until my older sister got married in the mid 70s. It went with her and her husband.
