Noise Gate works with the VOX sensitivity. These units also have a built-in SWR meter, when used in CW mode.

Why would you be surprised that the O7 receives well? There's no new receiver that's going to pull a signal out of the noise any better than another.

Tks for your video . I have been looking for a video like this . I have a icom ic 7300 the rf gain is completely useless. Turning back the rf control you are left with a ton of noise. I can see this radio is much better . Is it possible you could do a demo video using just the rf control on a noisy band and just using the rf gain control itself? AMC level at 100 = off, try setting at 60/70, this will tame your tx audio and prevent spikes especially when using an rf amp. ALC limits the RF AMC limits the tx audio.

You may need to revisit the AMC, 100 is switching it off, AMC limits ths audio and should give you a cleaner sound and prevent spikes, desireable when using an RF amp. may be 60/70 is a choice.I know this is the case with the 101 so I assume it will be the same with the 710.

The name of this radio is "Micro SDX Plus" it's not "USDX" the small letter "u" is the symbol used in electronics for "Micro" like a 150uf capacitor means 150 Micro Farads.

Thanks for the great video. I currently have a Yaesu FT DX 1200 and I use the contour function the same way. Contour function is amazing. As soon as I can sell my Yaesu FT DX 1200 I'll be getting a 710. I've been looking at this radio for a year now and I definitely want one. 73 👍🙂

I wonder if we share a common relative somewhere back up the family tree. My relatives all hail from North Mississippi (Webster County), migrating over from Georgia and Alabama back in the 1800s.

What is the reason for using 10ga wire here? Power handling or its just a wire you had available ?

FB comparison between your 80M loop and your new mini yagi. Great performance on the yagi, and the bandwidth would be fine for me since I'm 100% CW. Vy 72/73 de Paul in MT

Do you think the loading coils helped with lowering the SWR? I’ve seen this same design for a 20m yagi and without the coils the SWR is about 1.3-1.5 at best. Do you use a choke at the feed point for your setup?

Great build! I built a 2 elements Yagi for 10-12-15m with fishing rods and aluminum tape is my best antenna at the moment, it did out performance all my delta loops antenna as well. 73's my friend.
