Chained Outdoor Dogs on The Burin Peninsula
These dogs were taped from Point May to St. Lawrence on The Burin Peninsula, but this issue exists all over the province, Canada and the world unfortunately. If you live in NL, please, please sign the petition for the provincial government to change the laws so that people cannot chain and cage their dogs like this indefinitely. Imagine spending all day every day with no human or animal contact, nothing to do and no exercise other than one or two weeks during hunting season.
While we were shooting this we saw one guy come out to feed his dog, he didn't even touch the dog, not even a pat on the head. What you see here are these dog's whole lives. One older friend of mine tried to explain this practice by telling me that this is the way dogs have lived here for hundreds of years. Well we have come a long way in hundreds of years. It used to be legal to kill your wife in Rome. Are we as a society not constantly evolving? This situation MUST change. We can't just keep driving by and pretend it doesn't bother us. Please, please sign the petition:

Wait, thousands of dollars for it? we'll build our own thanks. You can buy real solar panels for that. save your money, make it yourself.

I must be missing something. I've watched a few of these videos. They always leave out crucial details like connecting the headers to the cans and to the house and fans. Also isn't it incredibly inefficient to intake from the bottom and blow out from the top?

14 years later. Now that the dust has settled. Solar was a scam. The expensive panels are now filling landfills because it costs more to recycle them than the energy they produce is worth. Wind is the same, huge landfills of massive turbines are growing rapidly! All because people are too scared of nuclear energy after two plants built in terrible locations had failures.

Metal and also aluminum is one of the few things thats really good to be recycled - with magnets it can be fished out. But looks interesting - to build a heating pump that's affordable for many people. Those with more money can buy ones that are more efficient - there are even ones underground that still work in winter.

Aluminum is nonferrous, so magnets won’t work.

Since only one side of the cans can absorb the sun's heat why use the whole can? Does it have something to do with the amount of air flow. I know when using plastic hose to heat water, for a pool, the flow rate is high, to get every therm of heat. Why has'nt someone made rolled aluminum and coated it ?

not sure what the fan runs off of, I would think it uses power, and most fans need to be replaced every now and than, but the video in not very specific with this part, a 50 to 100 degree increase in temperature here would mean I would have to have the windows open all the time

I'm all about being self-sufficient the only thing I don't understand about this setup is it will only work during the daytime when the sun is shining on it so how do you heat your house at night time when there is no sun and that's when you really need your heat? How do you get past that?

Free heat that is 15 to 20% cheaper than normal power. THAT IS NOT FREE. It's the blower motor that runs on electricity to make the unit work.

th-cam.com/video/bRZvAAqzXIw/w-d-xo.htmlm19s - I understand that cans must be black (to absorb sunlight), and should be put near each other - but shouldn't thebackground after cans be some kind of aluminum foil - to reflect sun to the cans (if some sunlight get pass cans)?

Brilliant! I also used beer and pop cans in my first solar house heater which measured 3 foot by 5 foot with a heat output of 131 F (55 C). For my second solar heater I used aluminum down spouts which was way faster. It measured 3 foot by 6 foot with a heat output of 140 F (60 C). So I scaled it up to 6 foot by 6 foot and it has a heat output of 203 F (95 C). They work great adding free heat to my house every sunny day! th-cam.com/video/7S8CWsIcK20/w-d-xo.html
