GS1000G, 2nd vid after starter clutch tightened

This is the second video, after I tightened the rotor bolt. The first video, the starter clutch was slipping badly.. Cranks right over now.. Also had to clean out the idle ports, Runs fairly good now, but I still need to fine tune the jetting...

This is the First Start, of my rebuilt motor, GS1000G, with 3.5mm Big Bore Piston. Installed GSXR1100 BST34 Carbs. MAC 4 into 1, with my home made, modified baffles.. Carbs still need some fine tuning. Also, my starter clutch was slipping badly.. Quick check afterwards, I had to tighten down the center rotor bolt..
MG 1 head 2nd start after ride

After a quick, 25 mile test ride, to scream the motor up to redline, here is the "2nd" start, after installing an MG-1 head. She runs REALLY good!! I need a Track Day now..
First Start with my MG1 Head on my CB1100F
มุมมอง 5994 ปีที่แล้ว
Installed an MG-1, (CB-1000C), Head onto my 1100F motor. Milled .006" off, slightly ported, new viton valve seals. Also purchased & installed Brent Hyde's, "VINCE & HYDE RACING" cam chain guide and tensioner. Here is the "First Start".. A bit smokey because I had to smear grease onto the exhaust gasket, to keep them in as I mounted the headers.. Took a bit to burn off..
Honda CB1123 Track Bike leak fixed

Jim Sawtell, has been bugging me about fixing my oil leak, on my Modified Honda CB-F Track Bike.. Well today was the day. Valve clearance check, re-torqued head nuts & installed a new cam cover gasket... Fireed it up and all good now.. Ready for the Track, 2020.. If it happens at all, stupid Coronavirus..

    Stock (us) is #100 main #68 primary jet and #35 slow jet…you went up to a #120 on the main?! And 80 on the primary? What about the #35 slow jet? We are talking about a CB750F with stock keihin carbs? I truly want to know as I am struggling with my stock carbs. Very free flowing exhaust, pod filters…jet kit #108 mains stock #68 primary and #38 pilot jets….2 1/2 turns out on the fuel screws…carbs synced. One washer under the stock needles. “Burbles” when transitioning from off throttle to a small amount of throttle at cruising speeds….runs well up to 8000 rpm then stumbles and will rev no farther…very frustrating. Need to pull them off. I cleaned them but didn’t check float height. Definitely worse as engine heats up from cold. Not sure if I’m need to go up on the mains…I have #105….#110 and #112 to try…the #110 and #112 are considered stage 4 and 5….#120 mains are crazy big from stock!!!

    You’re running 120 main jets on a stock set of CB750F carbs?

    • @melchiro79cbx
      @melchiro79cbx ปีที่แล้ว

      To clarify, the DOHC CB750F carbs have three jets. Primary main is the one at the front. Secondary main is the one where the slide needle goes into. The pilot jet sits under the rubber plug. This bike has 80 Primary, 120 secondary & stock size pilot jet.

    Hey, Currently cleaning up a set of BST34SS for my 900f. pretty much stock. CBR coils, relay mod, 4into1. Got a Keyster kit with all new stuff ready to go in. What jets did you start with? Mains? Pilot? Air jets on the top? thanks great bike

    • @melchiro79cbx
      @melchiro79cbx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both of my BST34 carbs, have the "DynoJet" Brand, Jet Kit. They come with a completely different shaped slide needle, and different sized main jets.. The needles have adjustable clips, where you can raise, or, lower the needle. If you have STOCK needles, then the only changes you can do, is to change the main jets out... This will take some, Trials & Testing, to figure out the tuning.. With pod filters, for sure, you will go up size, on the mains. First, take your idle-mixture screws, 3.5 turns out from full in. Then test ride. If it does not rev out, then go bigger on the main jet.

    Hey great video!!! A lot of the Honda CB DOHC people have a notion that you can get the bike to run right without the airbox or the stock header/pipes so Im glad you made this video. I also have 79cb750k and will be running pod filters and the carpy 4 into1 small baffled exhaust/ collector. I do have a supertrapp as well, probably similar to yours- and I will start my jet choice with what you suggest--so thanks for that!!! My only question is the needle position. Im assuming you left the needle clip in the middle (stock) configuration? so it would be 80/120/2.5 turns out/and stock setting for needle clip.....Thanks for the help and advice!!

    Hey Mel, doing same thing with my 81 900f. However it was sitting a while.The last time it sat the carbs needed sonic cleaning as slow jets are pressed in on 81's and can't be properly cleaned. Now it doesn't wanna run for long (10 sec or less & 3 cylinders ?) but only with starting fluid. It ran fine when it was parked. 1 1/2 years ago.

    Joe CARBU...There are PODS on carbs 1 through 3. I don't have a POD on the number 4 carb, because I wanted to show you all, that the slide lifts and falls as I twist the throttle. No sense in filming just a POD.. A lot of DOHC owners believed that you need a stock airbox, to run right...
