Martin Eaglestone - Wednesday Through The Lens
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 19 ก.ย. 2021
I’m Martin. I’m over 60 and wander with a Nikon camera, iphone and sometimes a small Sony. Mostly in Wales and often in Y Bannau. I love woodlands, enjoy a good landscape and can also be found on the coast.

What fabulous conditions Martin - stonking images.
Thanks Al, I’m not sure I did the conditions justice. But that is the photographers curse I guess!! 😂😂

Ye, definitely a few weeks away from some (hopefully) some autumnal colour. I was visiting my grandson in Ystradgynlais on weds so wasn't about but next time you are about this way drop me a line and I will get down there with ya. Have a good weekend Martin. atb Al
@@thevalleywalker will do, as you say probably in about 2 weeks 😀
, really enjoyed that.
Lovely images Martin, I was there for a couple of hours on Tuesday. There were loads of youngsters doing gorge walking so I made my escape to a little copse of trees above the main waterfall. There was certainly more water flowing through on the day you visited. atb Alan
Yes it is a popular outdoor activities section of river. I want to follow it up mountain above the Blaen Y Glyn uchaf car park at some point. There must be lots of cascades heading up the hill. 👍
Gosh, that certainly was some water coming through there Martin. Hard to get a decent shot with so much water I reckon but you managed a few very decent ones. (like the abstract at 2:52) I once killed a Canon 5D3 at that place. I was not very far from this today - I was parked over the Taff Fechan car Park and and had little walk through the forestafetr spending a few hours at Blaen y Glyn. I don't think I have ever seen the rowan trees looking so abundant with berries. atb Alan
@@thevalleywalker thanks, abstract was my thinking in that outing 👍
@@thevalleywalker a ha Blean y Glyn is my next one. “Editing” at the moment - shouldn’t sound too posh! Had a cracking session there yesterday. Town is spectacular everywhere it seems
Rowan
oh no you are so cutee mr 🥹🤍
What fabulous footage and conditions Martin... and from a blinking iPhone too 😮. You could tell how much you was enjoying that walk with the smile on your face. Do I assume you are from that area then if your parents live there? Have a great time atb al
@@thevalleywalker Hi Al, I’m back now but yes that area was the land of my childhood so fond memories of the great outdoors. We played for hours on those hills! But Sunday and the light was quite special 👍
Welcome aboard - subscriber 105 😂😂 yes there is plenty of Gething woodland untouched by BPW. Happy to guide you around when you’re ready. And the BPW cafe etc are on hand for a cuppa if needed. Hope things are okay.
Hi Martin, this video just came up on my recommendations and seeing it was you I wondered how I had not seen it - for soem reason subscribe was not pressed (apologies) so I have rectified that. To have something like this on your doorstep must be a wonderful thing... I know iys part of the Bike Park Wales but obviously there must be large parts tat are not impacted by this? The scene at 4:40 is something I think I would go back to time & time again.. wonderful. As you wandered about I was thinking with all that wetness around it really did have a feel of a rainforest. atb Al
Beautiful places, nature, footage... despite the mishaps. Video👍
Nice
I love my D850 too. It’s most paired with the 24 to 120 lens.
Think I’ll post an autumn update. 👍
Just up the road from me some lovely scenery across the Hafod
Great ridge line with lots of options for the 📷 👍
The 850 is a beast, I bought one brand new 2 month ago here in 🇦🇺for $3400,-- (We pay more for everything here) Got myself the book by Darryl Young " Mastering The Nikon D850 " and now looking forward to our 3 week trip to the Outback. I didn't see the point in going mirrorless because I have a lot of very good Nikon lenses and I am not the youngest anymore. Enjoy your new camera, you will love it.
Beautiful nature places and walk. Video Like 👍 Beautiful channel, I subscribed, 92, 🙂
Thank you so much 👍
@@wednesdaythroughthelens830 You're welcome friend 🙂
That is a incredible camera, shoot with it myself. Great images thanks for taking us along.
It’s a joy- I’ll post an update soon-ish 👍

Well put together Martin, a fascinating subject and one I remember as a young boy very well, a tough time indeed. Great images from Walter, and some very interesting background from Walter on preserving life, seeing the everyday.
Thank you Mali. I was feeling the pressure of trying to help deliver Walter’s story. Thankfully Walter is very pleased with it.
D720 or D7200? Enjoy your new camera. Nikon has a great price on them rite now new. Which should drop the used prices down also. Nice photos. Happy shooting.
Many thanks Martin👍 Now a subscriber.
Thanks. It can be a bit varied! 😂
I absolutely love my d850 i love the lenses i have and it will be many years before i change it because the photos i get with it are outstanding , changing for change sake is just throwing money away we have to remember that we are the photographer and the camera and lenses are the tools ,learn the tool and get great result , don’t and you wont even with the latest and greatest. Keep up the good work .
Indeed, a couple of months in now and enjoying it greatly. And being second hand feels great value for the spec 👍
WTF??? Not a single picture of the spark that has ignited ESB for almost 50 years? MIGHTY MAX still rules.
Colours popping in nature, and the architecture is interesting. The trees 'dance' through your lens! Smashing views of Clifton, thank you Martin!
Nice video Martin
Thank you. Perhaps short and sweet is the way forwards 👍
Very good.👍
Oh! Another D850 user. Love the camera. :)
hello nice vlog nice pics ive just done upgrade from nikon d5300 done same as you bought the d850 not yet gone out with it yet looking forward to getting out there
System becomes quickly familiar to Nikon user. But Stuff like back screen touch focus is really useful. Will probably mention these simple benefits in next d850 vlog.
Great video, thank you.
Thank you. I put myself in the enthusiastic “muddling through “ category 😂
Great photos. New camera looks great. I'm hoping to take a few photos of waterfalls soon. I'll add them to my vid. I've no idea but hopefully I'll learn. Nice relaxing music with the vid.
Here was vlog 1 from the same river th-cam.com/video/RqYn-JYN8e8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RVvVYLqn9D4S2Wkd
Love it there. Some good shots with your new camera.👍 Sgwd Gwladys isn't far away, beautiful there, pub at the start or end.
Not fired up the new one yet. Still the d720 here.
@wednesdaythroughthelens830 Looks good though.
Looks great. Nice new toy to capture nature.👍
Just need to improve my technique to match the camera!
@wednesdaythroughthelens830 I have an older one D5000. Got it about 13-14 years ago when my boys were little. Haven't used it for years. I will try it again one day on a warerfall. Wales is a beautiful place.👋
Very nice. You captured it well. Brilliant blue sky too.
Hi Martin. Nice work, great to be outside. The greens look great and river. Nice to see the ferns. Soon all the leaves will be back on the trees. 👍
Looks and sounds great.👍
I think you mean 50mm lens ...
😂😂I think your right
Very nice. Some beautiful shots. The green colours look amazing. Very soon all the leaves will be back. Enjoyed that.👍
Hi Martin. Good job. You had nice weather for that one. Been too long since the sun has been out. I'll follow your Wednesday journey now. Just liked and subscribed. Look forward to more from you.👍
Cheers. Hope my ramblings and snapping prove worthwhile 👍
@@wednesdaythroughthelens830 Yes,😁 Look forward to more. I'm off early tomorrow morning for a good walk. I go once a week.
Lots of walks around that general area, used to work for Western mail. So covered Merthyr, Ebbw Vale, and Aberdare area for Gwent Gazette. Don't know this walk though.
The lido is just above the Trevithick trail so can be included in a walk/cycle on that trail. The Gethin woodland walk can be accessed from Abercenaid, off the Taf trail, or park in Bike Park Wales and walk through woodland.
Beautiful!
I was there2 weeks ago with my grandson, he lives in Ystradgynlais so its local to take him. You cartainly did wander about that area Martin... I liked the mono of the fileds below that viewpoint... that particular spot is a fave of Nick Rees (During The Meanwhilst) The soup looked very wholesome. looked a great (but cold) day out. regards Alan
Ah, not quite where I thought it was but still great images. We need to plan that meet up butt!
Some beautiful images there Martin I enjoyed that
Sharper eyes needed in 2024 - but the outings are always therapeutic 👍
It was a great gig. I’ve also uploaded video to my channel which I took on Tuesday
Aye I’ve watched them 👍
Time to clean my sensors again!!
Nice video my friend with some stunning views and images.
Thanks. I went out for photos and ended up using a (windy) iPhone to make up a vlog. Turned out okay - thanks to nature!
Birch trees have always been my favourite to photograph there's just something about them.
