We were given a "clean" plate chiller from a customer that bought a Maxx counterflow chiller. After a year of it sitting on our shelf, we thought it might be interesting to see how well our brewery wash worked on a previously cleaned plate chiller. Enjoy the show!

    Thank you so much for this video . What is the difference in thermal conduction between copper and something like grade 5 titanium

    Do both stainless and copper stabilize eventually at the same temperature?

  • @gora876

    You can get rid off the hops by simply boiling it separately in small pot, collecting the hop flavored water and discarding the gunk. Do this a day or two prior to boiling the wort. Put the hop flavored water in cooler. This will further settle any other debris. What you are left with is just beautiful hop flavored water. I freeze a gallon of it and throw it in my cooled wort to cool even further.

    Looking at getting this to replace a old plate chiller. How much wort is lost in the coils during cooling?

    • @Exchilerator
      @Exchilerator 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for considering Exchilerator If left full it will hold about six ounces. If drained to the bend at the bottom there will be about one ounce

    Do you guys have any videos showing demonstrations of the exchilerator used during recirculation/whirlpool. I'm curious about how fast it cools down though that sort of use and how much water it takes.

    • @Exchilerator
      @Exchilerator 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for considering Exchilerator. Sorry we do not have a video of this. But the amount of water you will use is ultimately related to the temperature of the cooling liquid. A greater delta will cool faster and consume less cooling liquid

    • @Exchilerator

      Only temporarily or until you replace the Teflon again. This is a fix for an inherent problem that the Chugger has.

    hey, nice job, what is your ground water temp there, when this test was done, and what was the test volume, and how long did it take to chill it.?

    • @Exchilerator
      @Exchilerator 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Water was about 48 - 50 *. When that was shot I really wasn't keeping track of volumes just wanted to see if it would work. The Maxx now performs at 2.5 GPM 50 * ground water 5 gal. batch 200* to 70- 75* less than 5 Minutes.

    I've thought about doing this with my counterflow chiller. Is there any concern with running hot water from the HLT through brass fittings on the water side of the chiller only to use that same water for the sparge? I was going to try this once I found stainless steel fittings for the water side of the chiller. Thanks for posting.

    • @Exchilerator
      @Exchilerator 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul There are companies that make lead free brass garden hose fittings if that is your concern. If you are using a garden hose CFC I wouldn't worry about the brass it would be the taste/chemical pick up from the garden hose. That is why the Exchilerator is made of PEX, copper, stainless and lead free fittings. If you have a copper CFC it should work fine.

    The bottom angle is for comfort assuming it will be mounted on a flat service. Thank you for your kind words.

  • @robmckee7992
    @robmckee7992 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Received my 25' one today. Really impressed with the packaging and the product. Now comes with two metal bands that wrap around the coil to make sure everything stays put. The end near the "bottom" is angled up so if you want to mount this say under your brew table you can do that. I've never seen PEX used before but the inner tubing is copper so no worry. Thermal mass of wort will be slightly higher than water used in the demonstration and your local water temperature will also effect how much delta T this product is able to produce but anywhere near 1gal/min flow rate is awesome for home brewing.
