A few things I've learned while living here, but mostly me talking about how bad my on-campus housing experience was. Before anyone who loved Chico starts disagreeing with me, I understand I haven't experienced all of Chico yet, plus I got the 2nd worst dorm there, so there's gonna be a part 2 after I spend another semester or two here. You should still comment anyways though, it helps engageme...

I cant F*cking get into one frat no matter how hard I try. What the hell could i be doing wrong?
If you’ve already tried with several different chapters, they may just have not been the right fit for you. At the end of the day the majority of the group has to like you at least somewhat, so for some reason or the other, the orgs you’ve tried to join haven’t seen you as “enough like them,” if you get what I’m saying.
Probably you are not racist or sexist enough.
Thanks man
Of course man, hope the video helped you out!
I lived in chico for 7 years,, great times
Definitely! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the effort, but why did you feel a need to play music over the persons talking? It makes it difficult to hear what is being said.
Yeah, after rewatching I definitely agree with you, but I hope you could still got some value from what you could hear!
Earned a sub‼️
Thanks man! Good luck on your housing search!
I am a cyclist and found it to be a great area for that. It has lots of swimming holes and rec areas. There are plenty of places to enjoy on campus. They have great leisure sports programs like volleyball and basketball. I only found the summers when the campus was mostly closed to be boring. This guy was there during COVID, which I didn’t experience because was there many years before. I found it to have pretty good social life.

Hey yall I’m going transfer into a bigger state school I am a d1 athlete and I plan to do army reserves on top of that. I’m an above average student do you think I’d be able to add frat life into the mix?
I’m a d1 athlete planning to quit but no you can’t mix d1 sports and Greek life
hey main i appreciate your videos, considering going to chico from a far away state (wisco)!!
no problem, happy to help! feel free to reach out if you end up choosing chico!
dam that last video scared me away I ended up missing the deadline
you have such a kind & genuine energy! i may or may not be moving to chico for school (24f, already graduated somewhere else but might go for nursing) & had this pop up. is it mainly 18-21 or are there people in their mid 20’s/late 20’s?
thank you! There’s definitely a good crowd of people in their mid-late twenties, but I can’t say I know how many are around from experience since they’re mostly at the bars and shows in the area. If you come out here though you’ll definitely be able to find some good people!
@@toniotodd thank you!!
I’m mid 20s and go there.
W- thanks daughter and I watch great information
happy to help!
Can you stay in the dorms longer than freshman year? My daughter loves this school. I just want her to be happy make friends and live nicely. What sororities for African Am. are there?
due to limited housing availability I don’t think the school allows students to stay after freshman year except under special circumstances. they’re not the greatest in terms of living conditions though, they’re just good for making friends first year.
Also, I’m not aware of any specific African American sororities (the vast majority of members in those orgs are white with a small amount of latinx membership), but they don’t discriminate, I think preconceived notions of Greek life just deter certain demographics (myself included for the first two years). If that doesn’t work for your daughter, there are also multiple clubs/organizations with similar alignments/goals. I’m not involved with any of them because they seem heavily focused on their racial identity, but I don’t have the firsthand experience to give you in-depth insight there. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the reply
Type in frat hazing on google and click news
what’s wrong with the post on nord
super overpriced and they raise the rents every year to scare people into resigning. things are extremely low-quality (ie, we’ve had 3 microwave handles break, needed to have the washer/dryer entirely replaced, and the AC went out all the time). just not good value for your money imo
This shit is gay as shit
Wsg bro been watching all your vids im still a senior in high school but ima be over there for the fall semester of 2024 looking forward to being at Chico 💪
thank u bro, i appreciate it fr. looking forward to meeting you next semester, and lmk if you have any video ideas u wanna see 🤞🏽

coming soon! I’ll come back to this comment and tag you when they’re up. 🫡
@@toniotoddAwesome!! Thanks!
What made you decide to enroll at Chico?, because im currently between 3 universities SDSU, Long Beach and Chico. So far ive been accepted to Chico, but im still waiting for a response from those two universities.
I decided to enroll at Chico because of the affordability and accessibility. The cost per semester is really low, and I’ve been able to avoid debt so far because of the aid programs I’ve been able to get involved with. There’s also multiple clubs and programs at the school that are focused on community-building and providing support to students, like the CCLC (Cross cultural learning center) or PATH Scholars (a program for former foster youth and unaccompanied/at risk youth). It’s also really beautiful. I’ve grown up around SoCal and South Florida , so I’ve seen some amazing locations, but the amount of nature in Chico is incomparable. The party rep didn’t hurt either, but you can find those at any college tbh.
you and me are on the same boat!! I'm waiting for the same colleges too
@@toniotodd in terns of getting a job, is it easy to find one?
@@luiscarlos-mn5rk It depends. If you qualify for work study there’s a few jobs you’ll be able to find on Handshake, but even those jobs aren’t bringing many people on right now because of the low enrollment. Even if you get hired, you’re limited to 20hrs per week (which I’ve literally never reached in four semesters) , so it’s hard to live on just work study. That being said, there’s plenty of stores/restaurants around town that will hire you, or you could do what I’m doing and have one work study job and one job outside of the university.
@@toniotodd ok yeah I was concerned about the job aspect, if i attend chico I'll probably do one job on campus and one outside job Thank you for the help
Is it true that theres not a lof things to do around campus?? Because on one hand im perfectly fine with that, but im also considering SDSU and Long Beach, and I'd like to do something when i don't want to be on campus, and the previous 2 universities there are a lot of things to do.
there’s a lot of outdoor stuff to do here. if you like to hike there’s a lot of trails by upper bidwell, and lower bidwell has some nice parks. you can ski/snowboard if you have a car too bc the mountains are only an hour or two away. a smash house just opened up too, so definitely depends on what you like to do.
Wait, your six roomates live in a house that is close to campus and is valued at $150k? Being close to campus is prime real estate for rentals, nothing down there is even remotely valued at $150k. Odds are you're paying about average rents - $600-$700/room close to campus. Can be $800/room if it's super close to campus.
You’re correct, these prices are relatively average for the area, and that’s the issue. All of the houses close to campus are owned by a handful of management companies that have raised rent progressively year after year. I met with the President the week before break and a few of the other students at the event also brought up cost of living. The average full time student cannot afford these rates, plus, the safety and quality of living is not proportionate to these prices. I’m right next to campus and have had 3 break ins and 4 people have broken into cars in the back of our house. If the university wants more students, they’ll need to make off-campus/ near-campus options affordable, and safer. Especially considering the limited options for campus housing to begin with. Apartments like the Post on Nord are asking as much as 1100/month as well, and they’re neither close to campus, nor houses. It’s just a mess.
Learn speaking properly and clearly. People cannot understand what your trying to say.
got it! can you point out the area of my video you had trouble understanding? I’d be happy to help clarify.
your hoodie only has one string👎
ok but do it work tho
I’m proud of you for studying

How's Chico state like?
A Chico State alumnus, 1970. At small liberal-arts colleges where there are no graduate students, teaching ability is prized more. But small schools aren’t for everyone. Most learning in life happens outside classrooms.
Welcome to the brotherhood
