Thanks so much for posting this, and I like the waters video background. I have this set from a nonprofessional CD supplier (not sure what you call those companies), but the tracks skip and the sound quality was questionable enough to send me on a TH-cam search. Glad to have found yours; the sound is superb even when blasted through my old stereo system and speakers.

She sounds nice for Erda and maybe fitting for the slightly "younger" version of her at the timeline of the Rhinegold settings long before the final more mature version of her at the Siegfried third act opening scene, where she is a definitive full Contralto there, much alike her eldest daughter, the Norn of the Past. But here it´s nice to see an alternative of a younger version approaching a Mezzo in its lower tier too! However still love more the Erdas which keep being already a true Contralto since the begining here too and not only on Siegfried´s opera. Thus Dominguez is kinda HIGHER for an even better Erda then!

May I ask, was the great Eileen Farrell a mezzo soprano? She had an exquisite contralto voice. Yet she was a soprano, or perhaps dramatic soprano. She could certainly sing jazz with Louis Armstrong. It seems she could sing anything!

What a beautiful delivery of this delightful Schumann cycle. Brigitte Fassbaender’s total involvement together with the perfect placement of her tone places her in the top choices of interpreters. She is my first choice.

The first performance I've heard that comes close to Lehmann's. She shares with Lehmann a seamless legato and an approach from below for the important notes that brings the text alive.

Beautiful!...... the du in the title 'Bist du bei mir' must be the capitalized 'Du' as it refers to Jesus Christ!.... as originally composed by Bach and the setting done by Stölzel although the original author of the text is unknown.
