My random adventures. From spearfishing to riding dirt bikes to building and fixing my projects. Most of the time I am attempting something I have never done before, I would rather try something and learn from my mistakes then have somebody else do something I couldn't have learned myself. Join me on my journey of learning about the mechanic s of life. I'm just doing the things I love and hopefully getting some adrenaline rushes along the way.
Standalone LS and OEM Harness Combined, 1992 Chevy C1500 LS1/T56 Swap.
Wiring is one of those essential things that is kinda boring. I actually quite enjoy wiring. The wiring harness that came with the marketplace engine was cut and completely trashed. I removed the old harness from the truck and cut out anything I believe I didn’t need. I bought a stand alone harness for the LS and the mods I completed on the engine. It was plug and play. I ran the harness and made some adjustments to make it the way I wanted it. I got a first start out of the engine. Then I started the long process of integrating the standalone harness with the cutup OBS harness. After that I wrapped the loom around it all, of course I didn’t test anything, just sent it hope it all works out.
My daily driver, a 1992 Chevy C1500 2wd long bed, GMT400, has a blown engine and needs to be swapped. I bought a 5.3L LS1. The block casting number is12587393 (L59) with 799 heads, steel block with aluminum heads. The engine had headers, the stock wiring harness that’s cut to pieces and the stock ECM. I also bought a T56 with a stage two clutch, whatever that means. I want to do this swap to make my truck back to my daily driver, but make the driving experience a little more fun.This video isn’t a ‘How to’ video, it’s a ‘how I did it’ video, it’s for entertainment purposes only. Do not attempt to do what I do, please use all recommended safety gear and PPE for the task you are accomplishing.

Very through description 😮I like wiring as well.
@HillbillyRefrigeration I like it, but it's very time-consuming. It was the majority of my job when I worked as a tractor tech.
I have seen airtex brand fuel pumps defective out of the box.
@JoeyNeal-j9i it was my bad wiring not the fuel pump. Womp womp
@crescenthammer that sucks
@JoeyNeal-j9i it happens. I wasn't too confident the first time. I should've just done it right the first time.

Pretty enough for the task at hand. Will hold mint.
@@100bees5 that's what I thought.
Probably depends on the use case, as a handrail, imperfections do not risk the integrity of the final product… but as a fuselage for a jet aircraft, it would be woefully unsafe and not to code
@blazed-space good thing it's not an aircraft
Lmfao "actual welders" bro you need to look at some welding fail videos to see ugly welds. Those are visibly prepped and there's no wire stuck in em, 25-30/hr easy right there
@shrimplomein6509 Really, that's my first day welding aluminum and dust day with a spool gun. I've been welding steel for years, stick, oxy-ace, and wire feed.
I do need to work on figuring out the settings.

That zinc additive isn't needed but also I believe will do more harm than good. Hopefully it doesn't cause you any issues but I don't recommend using it.
@edgallimore2843 it isn't essential, but recommended when replacing bearings and after doing a complete rebuild. It won't do any damage. 1/2 quart to seven quarts of oil is hardly any.
