Have Another with Espo
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 19 ส.ค. 2013
I've never worked as a bartender, but I do a fairly solid impression of one for my friends. And hey, online friends are friends too! Why not come by for some fun drinks, cute dogs, and maybe the occasional story, with your friendly neighbourhood Espo.
Learning as I go, hoping to have some fun along the way. Like, subscribe, tell all your friends to come and Have Another with Espo.
Cheers!

12 Drinks of Christmas pt 7,8,9
It's Sippin' Saturday, Die Hard is on, a Muppet Family Christmas is on deck (available in full version on TH-cam, you're welcome, that's gotta be worth a like, maybe even a subscribe eh?)
We're still making Christmas Cocktails, and boy howdy was I hoping I was gonna hate at least one of these.... alas....
7. The Grinch
1 oz Gin
1 oz Green Chartreuse
1 oz Maraschino
1 oz fresh lime juice
Shake with ice, strain into a coup (or whatever you have handy)
and garnish with a super red cherry.
Optional tiny dog with one reindeer antler.
Another one that probably could have used a bit of food colouring, but here we are. This is a bit of a Christmasy take on the famous "Last Word". It is absolutely right up my alley, but between the Chartreuse (impossible to find) and the Maraschino (who has this???) the ingredients are a touch esoteric and the flavour profile isn't going to be for everyone. Great for cocktail heads and adventurous palettes, maybe not one to whip up for the famjam while they're carving up the Roast Beast.
Solid A+ cocktail for me, but the rest of Whoville probably isn't giving this one a passing grade.
On to something a bit more for everyone
8. TRUE LOVE
(as in the one giving me all these birds and trees and gold rings and such)
3 oz gin
2 oz raspberry syrup (instructions below)
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1 egg white
Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin, dry shake, then add ice, and shake vigorously for 15-30 seconds.
Strain into a martini glass (or coup if you're feeling fancy)
Garnish with lemon peel (this would be a great spot for a lemon peel spiral, so if you've got your channel knife handy, now is the time!)
This beautiful, colourful, foamy, delicious, balanced cocktail hit me right in the feels.
I was worried my quick raspberry syrup wouldn't have that much flavour, but it put in some WORK beside that lemon.
Just a wonderful drink, if you like a whiskey sour, you'll be all over this.
A+ cocktail. This deck is pumping out some BANGERS!
Espo's quick Raspberry Simple Syrup
1 cup sugar
0.5 cup water
0.5 pint raspberries
-In a small saucepan combine 1 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup water over low heat. Stir until mostly combined.
-Once the syrup starts looking consistent, add in just over 1/2 pint of fresh raspberries (frozen probably works too, but I'd probably use more...)
-increase heat, once the solution comes to a boil start smashing the berries (I used a cocktail muddler, but use whatever's handy)
-reduce heat to medium and let the berries and syrup infuse for 2-4 minutes while continually stirring.
-remove from heat, and strain mixture into a heat safe container. You'll want to strain this a couple times to ensure the seeds and pulp are all out.
-allow to cool and store in the fridge, should be good for 3-6 months, likely won't last that long though, its VERY tasty!
9. White Christmas
Sweet valencia oranges.... nvm...
1 oz vodka
1 oz amaretto
1 oz heavy cream (i used coffee cream, it was fine)
Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass (or again, whatever you have)
Garnish with grated nutmeg, and optional cinnamon.
A literal milkshake, its tasty as all hell, very dessert, maybe not as good as my unnamed cream cocktail, but I might be biased....
I'd like to see a bit less amaretto, and maybe swap out the regular vodka for vanilla vodka, but this is delicious as it is. The amaretto isn't overpowering, the vodka does its job, and its not too heavy. Brandy, cognac, or whiskey would also play in beautifully here instead of the vodka. Pretty much a Amaretto Alexander now that I'm looking at it... still delicious.
A- dessert drink (but only because... well.... again, I'm biased.)
That does it for today kids,
Thanks again for coming by, try some of these out for yourselves, maybe impress your friends with a few new recipes this holiday season.
Cheers!

Birthday Haul, Yellowstone review

Great weekend, hanging out with amazing people, had such an amazing birthday, I don't even care if I ended up too bloated to fall asleep afterwards ;) The big 4-0 means some bottles were coming my way. Great haul here, first off the Canton Distillery Bourbon (Cooperstown Distillers) retails at about $42 USD (because it isn't available up here). Haven't opened this one up yet, but you know me, I...

Dockside Iced Coffee Breaking out another @wildmuskoka recipe: Dockside Iced Coffee: 2 oz Irish Cream Liqueur (or..... Rum Chata... or Both) 2 Droppers Mushroom & Cocoa Bitters Coffee Ice cubes In a glass with coffee ice cubes, pour Irish Cream and bitters stir and serve. Can also be blended for a 'daiquiri style' drink. (I would call this more of a mudslide slushie, but hey, we're quoting here...

What a fun night. Thanks for having me on!
@sherribarnapurplebeanmedia6467 may have been my favourite episode to shoot, you've got a standing invitation back on anytime
Actually copper is an excellent thermal conductor, and thus would transfer the cold out of the glass, while inducing warmer temperatures to the contents. Also the mule cups are only copper plated stainless steel, and not full copper, so the copper mule cup theory is busted, twice. The only way to keep the cold in and heat out is double wall construction, like thermal cups use.
@jreyman the handle helps, buuuuuut as far as I've read, the story is, the Mule was invented as a gimmick to sell and excess of copper mugs.
All blantons are from warehouse H.

Your audio cut out at the 6:45 mark.
@robertcondon2742 I know, I made note of it in the description. Unfortunate situation, but the mic ran out of juice without me noticing. Rest assured, I was hilarious and insightful the rest of the way on, unfortunately, you'll have to take my word for it. Cheers!
Needed this one!
@ILockhartI glad I could help, having finished the drink, I'd recommend dialing back the lemon juice just a touch. But the candied ginger was awesome after soaking in the Toddy! Cheers!
Skip the rare breed. Make it with Benchmark Full Proof. 125 proof and taste profile better for cocktails than Rare Breed at half or less the price. Just facts
@@mikew6135 if I could find it in this country I very much would. Love the suggestion tho! Have a cross border trip planned for either later this month or early November, so I'll be on the lookout! Cheers!
Alcoholic is not the thing to be...
@Hydrahandle7 good thing I don't go to meetings then, eh? Alcoholism is a serious issue, and probably not a term that should be thrown around for someone making one 2oz cocktail on a Wednesday, specifically for a cocktail channel. You don't know me or my habits, so let's limit the finger pointing and get back the finger painting, k?
Must suck to not understand when people are just having a fun time…
@@haveanotherwithEspo I'm just saying Alcohol is not the thing that makes us cool! And the room does scream, im Big time in to the licker... Ricky! Lol, But sorry if I've offended you not what I was seeking.. I'm just one comment of the millions of comments, here on TH-cam.. Don't worry about me..We all see the world different.. You see fun.. I see more hurt and confused people that need healing. Alcohol and drugs trashed everything to most of the people I know.. Hell I don't even know what kind of channel this is? Maybe for bartenders and what not.. I know nothing about the channel and just what came up on my screen.. And probably shouldn't have made comment.. But comment make you money..Why even care what some guy living in a basement thinks..
@@Asmodeushot Just blame TH-cam for showing me things I don't care to see.. If they don't want people making what you see as a negative comment.. Then they should not force feed people things they know they don't like.. TH-cam trolls people to make comments.. Good or bad.. Just now if you make a poor comment they will jail your ass, well welcome to the free world of democracy and freedom of speech till the last day! Cheers 🍻 And blessings till then..
I think we're saying a lot of the same things here. That said.... this is a cocktails and whiskey channel... Heck, one of the main reasons I got into mixing actual cocktails was to be more mindful about drinking in the first place. Rather than mindlessly slamming beers out of boredom, I'd have to actively want an alcoholic beverage. A cocktail (usually) takes some effort and a conscious decision in the making of said effort. Do I actually "want" this drink, or am I just mowing the lawn? or bored...? or thirsty? Maybe I'll just grab some water first if the answer to the first question is no. What works for me, doesn't work for everyone, but again, it works for me. Calling everyone that consumes alcohol an alcoholic however, maybe lessens the effect the words have when someone actually needs to hear it. Some food for thought
I polished a bottle of yesterday. Mine lasted about six months.
if you need more Blanton's, I have extra Golds, let me know if you are from the northeast USA, I can give you some for what I paid for
I'm not rich I can't lose my money haha
@NewsAboutWhisky close ish, Southern Ontario. Hahaha that federal border gets a touch squirrelly with that
It was the first high-end bourbon I ever got on my birthday also
I think Blanton's is also my favorite thank God it's not hard to get where I live my wife mixes it with root beer lol
@soot4355 lucky you! It's always MSRP here at least, but we get bottles VERY rarely. There was a drop last January i wanna say? Love it, but I save/savour it.... And rootbeer!!! Lol. giver I still have to try the mountain dew mixer version so I'm not sure I've got a leg to stand on!
Also, drink your whiskey how you want! I once made an old fashioned with Stagg Jr to prove a point. (I paid $55 for it so it meets the criteria)
@DrDooph exactly! To borrow from whiskey tribe, the best whiskey is the one you like the way you like it. (Coincidentally, damn, wish I could find a bottle of stagg or Jr anywhere around here!)
excuse me, did you say "Temu Ball"? :)
@@DrDooph sure did Doc, bought the ice sphere molds off temu for dirrrrrrt cheap
Greetings, I hope this message finds you well. I recently came across your TH-cam channel and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of your content. It's evident that you've cultivated a dedicated audience who appreciates your work. As a fellow enthusiast of your content, I have some ideas that I believe could further elevate your channel's success. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss these ideas with you. Warm regards.
It's on my list to get!
if you can find it, its totally worth the pick up, zero regrets. better old fashioned than just on ice, but hot damn, it might be my new "i'm really feeling like an old-fashioned tonight" bottle
<3
Johnny Red, I'll agree on that one
Absolutely nothing wrong with Johnny Red, it gets a bad wrap sometimes
Great video....just subscribed
Thanks! Really appreciate that!
If you buy, and just look at them, because you dont want to break the seal, just keep photos of good spirits, and read reviews! A lot cheaper! That being said, you have a gr8 collection, and have convinced me to pick up a few things. (Four Roses) I also have a few bottles that are very low, that I dont want to finish because I may not find another, or it will be above $100 (Col. E H Taylor Small Batch) Definitely special occasion sipper!
Totally agree, at end of the day, whiskey is made to be enjoyed, not starred at. While I do like having my collection, every one of these bottle is on the shelf because I'm excited to drink them. I don't drink every day, so they'll be slow going, but for the most part, I'm going to enjoy these with good friends. There's a bit of hyperbole to this list in the first place, but the biggest fib is the "impress your friends bottle" while I LOVE breaking out the Four Roses Single for my friends who enjoy whiskey, I'd much rather experience a new bottle that I'm excited about with a friend or two than on my own. Thanks for the comment!
Potato is like: I'm not fat, father. I'm fluffy.
Hahaha, don't worry about Potato, she owns it
(Also, Blade & Bow is Stitzel-Weller, not Weller or a Buffalo Trace product at all, totally different distillery)
And I learned something today. I said a couple of the others were Jim Beam products as well, despite being other _____hyphen-beam spots, was probably waaaaaay off there too. Thanks for letting me know!
(Old Grand Dad 113, not 112...and it's spectacular)
One taker, absolutely mis-spoke hahaha, thanks tho! Glad there's people paying attention!
You seem friendly
well thanks!
is this stolen
Is what stolen?
Looking lovely
Well thanks!
always preferred Bushmills
It's fantastic, especially in mixing. I'm going to try this again with the Roe & Co (highly recommend btw) but the Bushmills did great things in this cocktail! Thanks for coming by!
NICE
Good use of cromulent!
I does what I can for ya fella. Lol
Fuck yeah!
Hey I just want to say that a great whiskey I would recommend is AM Scott single barrel, it doesn’t have much of an online presence and is made in ohio but it has to be one of the best whiskeys I’ve ever tasted!!❤️❤️
Hey! That's awesome, unfortunately, up here we're somewhat are the mercy of the LCBO in what we can find. I've got an order in with a friend and his whiskey group currently to bring in a few bottles from out of province, but finding any single barrel bourbons in Ontario (outside of four roses, which I adore, and blantons, which is suuuuuuper allocated) is nearly impossible. I'll be heading to the states in a few months tho, so I'll keep an eye out for it. How would you describe AM Scott? Are there any comparables for you? Maybe even style wise? Cheers!
I like this one!
Thanks! Don't be shy, let me.know if there's anything else you want to see me try
My favorite Friday night dram! 🥃

Nicely done! Are you able to put your recipe in your description section?
Thank you! And of course, I just hadn't had a chance to update the description yet! Cheers
Got the description up. Got a little wordy for a solo cocktail video, but I tried to keep the directions early on in the typing. Cheers!
I love the simplicity of a gimlet
I think I do too now, tried making one when I was much younger, not sure if my palette wasn't quite there yet, or if I just made a terrible Gimlet back then... this one* was fantastic... *there was more than one...
HeckYeah!
Thanks!

Great channel! Love the cocktails and mocktails.
Thanks! Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see, I'll try to work it in
Bro, flip the image, please!!!
Appreciate that, I'm still kinda learning the ropes
I can see this working well for a party - have the mocktail ready to go in a punchbowl then shake it up with rum for the drinkers.
Thanks! A lot of the mocktails, so far, have been punchbowl types, and I've scaled them down to single serve drinks when I can (some ratios won't really allow for it) But a lot of these would be great in a self-serve party setting. Cheers!
I love this drink!
I've gotta be in the right mood for one, but it hits so hard every time I am
Fucking loved this one.
Thanks!
..and then the Cat pushed all down. The end!
Hahaha not quite, she looks pushy, but she's a sweetie, mostly lookin for attention
Remember that time you offered me a drink then poured me the Virginia Black? 🤢🤮. Thanks bud
I feel like I've rectified that several times over
Ok your actual surprise with the grapefruit one made me want to try it! Thx!!
I got a big old whiff of grapefruit on the nose when I brought it up to try and thought "uh oh... this isn't going to be for me" and was legitimately stunned at how much I enjoyed it! I used St Germain in that one, but the LCBO sells an elderflower liqueur from McGuinness that's slightly different, but its also half the price ($25.05 vs $49.95 for a 750ml bottle)
A push for the Kitten 😂❤
The Push again
Another day, another push for the win 🎉
Old-fashions are good but I definitely prefer a Manhattan, it's a bit more delictable. Sazeracs are great too, but a tough drink to make properly. I made some for the first time a couple Mardi Gras ago and it took me like 3 tries to even get something drinkable.
Great to hear! I figured I'd start as basic as possible and work my way up. I want to like Manhattan's more, but i'm not a huge vermouth guy... either way, we're going to try a few things and see where they go! Cheers!
