Tc lol. 2018 doesn't have that crap. Slide the rear out with skill.
Sorry, but your information is wrong and dangerous! In Map 2, the rear wheel ABS is turned of and the corner traction control is reduced. This can lead to an accident if it's not known or you are not an experienced rider!
no sir. You are incorrect. ABS is never deactivated unless you do it manually; regardless of map. If you have the ABS dongle, your bike remains in the last setting of ABS when the key is turned. If your KTM 690's ABS turns off automatically in Map2, your bike has a malfunction. Please bring it to our service department, lol
@@MaxMotorsports1904 Please do your homework. The KTM is not just "faster" in Map 2, the TC and ABS (respectively the corner ABS/TC) is reduced to allow more inclined position and blocking of the tires than in Map 1. That's why it's called the off-road mode. But I have to admit, that the ABS is not fully turned off. But as I said, it's not "just faster" in Map 2.
@@Maarten2013 Thanks for your comment! Just be aware that if your ABS is even slightly diminished in offroad mode, you have a malfunction and need to take your bike to the nearest KTM authorized service center. Offroad mode has zero effect on ABS behavior. The only differences between the modes is power delivery and MTC. Not ABS. Your ABS will let you know right away if it's on or off. Not "a little bit on."
I did a 4,200 mile ride last month in the US on a 2019 690 covering TAT and BDR routes. I preferred Map 1 in the end giving me much more control on the slippery surfaces where my very limited off-road experience/skills were massively helped by the TC especially but also the ABS. Map 2 gave more slip in my experience but that became a negative for the fully loaded riding we were doing. The power was great on the roads where it was needed to keep up with my old buddy on his Tiger 900.
Ty sir, so I can be in 2 w tc and abs on?
yes
I leave mine in sport mode with ABS and traction control on all the time.
So how do the different modes change the abs settings? Does Map 2 change the ABS to "off road" ABS? Meaning, ABS on the front wheen, but switched off on back? Or do you need to do something else entirely to initiate off-road ABS?
It depends on what year. Check your manual or search. My 2020 701 Map does not change abs. The last Map setting is remembered when bike is restarted. Abs button is for either all abs front and rear, or no abs. Need the dongle for Abs front on and abs rear off.
They don't. The ABS is either fully on or the rear ABS is fully off. Front ABS is always active. The modes do affect the traction control, however.
@@MaxMotorsports1904 not sure I understand this correctly, however, the above statement is not accurate on my 2023 690. "the rear abs is fully off." abs are either off or on, there is no off on rear and on, on the front.
At Rallies, the 450 is the base bike. I dont know of too many rallies in the US. It seems like the "Rally look" is important to many , or at least some. I know some spend over 10K trying to make a 690 into something else. I would rather either make my 690 lighter or at least not make it any heavier for general purpose riding, by the time a proper rally build is done there must a fair chink of weight added. These bikes can be taken any number of ways though.
The quickshifter works really well ! Test ride one.
I have a 701. it shocked me on tarmac … bloody good fun !
@@maxflight777 Me too. Last week for the first time on the A3 and doing 60 which feels fast in the wind blast I cracked open the throttle and the acceleration is ballistic! A Nomad tower is the next purchase and anti-vibration bar mounts to enjoy its full potential.
If you get it just right the front end will come up in ride mode 1. I have '19 model and this caught me by surprise. Now you don't go very far on one wheel, but it is possible :)
9:01 be as safe as you possibly can…😂😂😂😂. *no irony at all as he rides without motorcycle gear*
Thanks
somebody needs to figure out how to completly remove the abs!..pump..all of it!..correct length brake lines also
Idiot
What's wrong with the ABS?
any changes from the 2023 to the 2024 model?
none
Hi i have a KTM 690 Enduro R on a 73 plate. Its it the same as you saying or ? Im a beginner with this bike .
Hi. I own 2022 enduro r EU version. Map 1 is full TC and ABS front and rear. On map 2 is weaker TC (it let you do wheelies) but it is there and ABS is active ONLY on front wheel. You can disable ABS completly in map 2 (rear and front) with the button on dashboard and you can disable TC completly in map 2 as well. To be able to turn off TC (maybe ABS as well, Im not sure) you must ride for a couple of meters by speed higher than 4km/h until TC light turn itself off, then let off throtle (or stop completly, it is safer) then hold TC switch for 5 seconds (not less, not more). If TC light will go on, you did it right. Sorry for my bad english
no quickshifter + on 2023s ?
The 2023 comes with the quickshifter. Unlike the ADV bikes, that feature is not an additional purchase. I love it
don't think mine has it , they have to enable it thru ecu ?
@@796andy2 no enabling required. keep steady throttle and shift up or down without the clutch or breaking throttle. If it won't, take it in to your local dealer.
smcr or just Enduro ?
on 2019 and later models, it's standard and factory-activated. If not working, take your bike to the dealer for repair. @@796andy2
Nice shop👌🇳🇱
my 23 ktm 690, traction control off made a huge difference if you got stuck
Map 1 is like valet mode.... I only use it if I'm on ice or letting someone borrow it.... Map 2 slaps
Lots of good information and what a beautiful store you have. Unfortunately, GASGAS will not be offering this model in 2024. So just KTM and Husqvarna. Could my man recommend a muffler for this bike?
Sharon, Wings, Arrow, and Akropovic are brands we have some experience with. I can't tell that one is any better than another and we have no dyno. Only a butt-dyno! There are lots more choices for the 701 version, since Husky uses the previous version of exhaust header. The muffler slides onto the header and is secured with a standard exhaust clamp on the 701, like a 2018 and earlier 690. However, the 700 and 690 use the flange-type connection between header and muffler so don't make the mistake of assuming that a husky application fits the ktm. It will not.
@mrrandy1 we just took delivery of a 2024 Gas Gas ES700 today. Not discontinued
good to know@@toddsmith4109
This is partially correct, please read the manual. The manual says that the SPORT mode offers Offroad Traction Control and Offroad ABS. Therefore these are looser configured in SPORT vs STREET, therefore i would not recommend diving on streets with SPORT mode, but with STREET mode. Otherwise you risc making an accident with less traction control and less abs.
Thanks for your comment. I'll clarify here: Mode 1 (street mode) is a mode I would not recommend using with traction control. ever. Mode 2 makes all power available. Traction control is less invasive but still works well in Mode 2. I just turned 7,000 miles on my 2023 and have used all the modes quite a bit.
Could different years do different things? 2020 does not disable rear abs "only" without an abs dongle. Abs dongle allows front abs on, rear off. Without abs dongle its either all abs or no abs (front and rear). Page 74 2020 manual.
@@ridemfast7625 2019 does not have the front wheel only option. Abs is either all the way on or all the way off. Starting in around 22-23 they made a change to the ABS settings.
I own a '23 701 Enduro, tuned with Rottweiler's map on a PC6 with an O2 delete and Yosh can. Now it makes power 😄 These bikes are very lean from the factory, richening up the fueling really adds to the off idle through midrange power and their part throttle response. They are correctly fueled for wide open throttle, but I think I've pinned my 701 perhaps 2 times. I think what people are running into while off road is the bike defaults to Map 1, TC and ABS on front and rear when it is started, and that is the worst of all worlds setting for dirt. Traction control is way more intrusive in Map 1, which is a disaster in the dirt. If TC is turned off, I find the "street map" #1 actually front loads more response in the initial input of the throttle and it is too jumpy when riding in the dirt. The green #2 "off road map" (which disables rear ABS) is linear, what you ask for is what you get, which makes Map 2 far more controllable to the initial turn of the throttle in the dirt. What you want in the dirt is Map 2 with the TC off and ABS completely turned off. Hold down the ABS button after starting the bike until it lights up solid and then you are good to go. Both maps output the same power, but street map 1 is a bit of a gimmick in my opinion, as it makes the bike "feel" faster with the more aggressive initial response. I leave it in map 2 all the time, as it is 100% linear, what you ask for is what you get, which is much better for doing wheelies 😆 I also run an off road dongle that causes the bike to remember the last TC and map settings. I still have to manually turn off front ABS when off road every time the bike is started, still a mild inconvenience (was hoping it would leave ABS completely off) but it is an improvement over having to reset the TC, ABS and map every time, so the "off road dongle" is still worth it. Another must do mod is to swap out the 215F factory fan switch for a 175F (80/85C) switch. AOMC has them. The fan will run all the time when off road but that doesn't hurt anything and your engine will thank you. Another thing, KTM products I've had tend to "bed in" their valves which causes the clearance to go tight initially. The good news is they hold their clearance well after the bed in. Don't skip the 600 mile service - I did the service myself, all 4 of my 701's valves were at or just a bit past the tight end of the spec so it got 4 new shims. I don't expect to have to mess with the valves much from here. Search TH-cam for "Husqvarna 701 Enduro Wheelie Practice" (it is the one in the business park) if ya wanna hear a Yosh can equipped good running 701. 61 years old and still haven't grown up yet 😆
I also have a 23 701 Enduro and also ride in Map 2. After shutting my bike off and then restarting it later it doesn't default to Map 1 it stays in Map 2. The ABS and TC will default back to being on but the mapping doesn't change. Only Mod I've done is Rally pegs and it seems to have an abundance of power stock. 60 years old and if we would have grown up we wouldn't be riding 701's.
@@dandersonjr Indeed we haven't grown up, my brother from a different mother! 😆 Ya, I think you are correct. The "off road dongle" simply remembers no TC. Kinda sorta not worth it I suppose because I sill have to turn off ABS every time. The benefit of the dongle is I don't have to turn off TC also.
Isn't the reccomended first valve check at 6000miles not 600?
@@tbnr1492 Valve checks are at 6.2K mile intervals, but the initial service is at 600 miles. It is debatable if the 600 mile service entails a valve clearance check, but in my experience with my KTM bikes, it is good to check the valves early on. Once they set they go for a long time. I still own a 2010 Husaberg FE450 (slanted confused KTM engine) and it has not required any valve clearance work since initial bed in.
My 690's MTC button/switch won't deactivate. I have held the button down per the manual instructions and as you have demonstrated in the video. Any suggestions?
Sounds like you need to replace the mode switch. Mine failed on my '23 and was locked in mode 1 (street mode). Warranty covered it, and a replacement did fix the issue. I should have mentioned in the video that Mode 1 is not terrible if you deactivate the MTC.
It works, but you need to have the bike going, and don’t accelerate it.
I have to hold the clutch in if I am moving
Great info!
Beautiful. where is it possible to find the entire rear light assembly for the 800?
Hope we can turn traction control off
Oh yeah! that's a feature from the factory that hasn't changed. All TC modes can be disabled, just as before.
Rade Garage towers are garbo ... sub-mount is built like a styrofoam egg carton with micro laptop screws ... the lights are poor quality ... people get these towers because of the attractive lower price point ... .. spend the extra $ on a Rebel Perfect-fairings or Aurora towers the build quality is much better
I have thousands of miles on my setup now. Portions of the TAT and SM500 and all levels of difficulty nearby with zero problems. Sure, you can spend more money for a more involved setup, like with anything. But to attack the build quality of RG stuff is really silly. And what's this about laptop screws? The submount uses nickel-plated, 6mm shank bolts and nylock nuts, not tiny laptop screws. You're thinking of the top hatch, which should be easy to access. All load bearing parts are beefy enough. Well-nuts are used to mount the windshield because more is not needed. I have pushed through plenty of branches with mine and there's no problem. We have installed many of these now for our customers and without exception, they love the finished product. Are they racing? nope. Do they want amazing wind deflection? yes, and they got it. Do they want to be able to stand and see their GPS/Phone/Instruments without totally ducking their head? yes, and they have that now. And the lights are amazing. I was afraid they would not be enough but having just finished a 13 hour DS ride last Saturday in the darkness, i can say they pretty much turn night into day. We sell Denali and Baja Designs, etc., and I would have them if the bike needed them. It does not.
@kevintweedy5554 -but thanks for the input! Plus, if someone needs a racing setup, you've given me somewhere to look
WOW
I'll contact you guys when I'm ready for work on my bike !

guys you omited to give us the name of that manufacturer of after market parts, in the tchèque republic. Being in Canada it makes it harder go & source these parts thru you guys
Thanks for the comment. The tower, windshield, aluminum skid plate, auxiliary fuel tank, all come from Rade-Garage. The rear rotor guard is Husky power parts. The footrests are from Bulletproof Designs.
@@MaxMotorsports1904 Thank you for the reply. I thought the rallye tower was from an obscur company fabricating amazing products. Rade Garage gets great reviews on their roducts. Cheers to you all guys!
