blown head gasket on old school Chevy
มุมมอง 142 ปีที่แล้ว
this is a 1998 Chevy 350 block. following the gas analyzer video that's on my channel. The customer had actually added several types of additives to the cooling system to try to stop the head gasket leak, which in turn caused the vehicle not to really purge steam out of the exhaust after propagation effect. but also caused a number of ports that needed to be cleaned individually due to the addi...

oil pressure pid understanding
มุมมอง 962 ปีที่แล้ว
oil pressure reading in psi and voltage on a scanner. pid shows a pressure for the pid but actually looking at a switch interpreting gem module information from psi to actual oil pressure switch. but needs a sender for accurate operation for gem interpretation of scanner pid. oil "switch" will not work.

Why are they designed that way it’s literally meant to fail

well that's how the mfg keeps making money on their products. vehicles are made to fail to keep the industry in business. you can thank Lee iacocca for that.

My car needs one.. every little bump I go overni her something like that.. it's being fixed in 2 days

Normally you will not hear a bad tie rod going over bumps, you might possibly feel it by moving the steering wheel side to side rather quickly. You might hear a popping noise. What you're probably hearing when you're going over a bump is either a bad stabilizer link, ball joint or something that does require some attention, so I would recommend that you do have it checked out by a professional to see what's loose in the front end. That's where the noise is coming from, and when they check it out they'll be able to check the tie rods and see if they are loose or worn out.

He said its the outer tie rod? I just a went to the garage.. but he quoted me for an outer? Idk.. it didn't make the noise til after I was driving for a bit.. after I left the garage. Idk if that seems right but he checked it all out. Said that's the only thing that needs fixed? I've got no issues with steering or the wheel..

@@saraketchum9616 that doesn't sound right tbh .. you might want to get a second opinion though. An outer tie rod might make a noise as it's a vertical ball compared to an inner tie rod being horizontal ball but it would have to be pretty worn out to hear it on a bump on the road. If it made the noise "after" they did the work then something is not right. Did they do an alignment as well? Anytime a front end component is replaced they should always do an alignment as well .. especially a tie rod.

No they haven't fixed it yet. It goes Thursday at 1pm. & my bf who's out of the area so he can't look at it or fix it.. said that sounds right. And actually It was doing it today just as I was driving down my street which has no bumps.

@@saraketchum9616 ok .. so no work has been done to it yet, it made the noise before or after they checked the front end (assuming that's what you took it in for in the first place?) , they are stating that an "outer" tie rod is making the noise over rough surfaces or bumps (which would be a very loose tie rod end in my opinion shouldn't have let you drive it if it's that loose) I assume they quoted you an alignment with the tie rod replacement as well. Idk what year, make, and model your vehicle is, but I have been doing this for 38+ yrs and very rarely have I seen a tie rod make a noise over bumps, of noise your hearing is the same as in the video I doubt very seriously an outer tie rod is the issue unless it's about to fall off which is very dangerous and again they shouldn't have let you drive it if it's that bad. If it got worse after they checked it that would be so to the suspension not settling in after the vehicle was raised up off the ground and then put back down on the ground which is only an assumption. If they're going to put a new outer tie rod on it and it takes care of it then you are definitely one of the rarities. If it's making the same noise that's in my video on an outer tie rod, not an inner. I would let them do the work that they're requesting to do and doing alignment, but I'm willing to state that once they get in there they're going to probably find something else to sell you because I've never heard an outer tie. Rod make that kind of noise unless it was about to fall off. HTH and please let me know if that fixed it or not. My curiosity is officially aroused.
