VWD Half-Slider Van Bunk Windows by Van Windows Direct installed in my 2016 MB Sprinter. Installation Steps: 1. Template. Make a cardboard rectangle 27.5" x 7.5". Lay on the inside of the window making sure the frame and triangular drainages on bottom are within the template as that will need to go through the hole of the wall. I spent over 3 hours trying to change a bulb. 🤬Thanks for the tip. Took less than 10min.
5:53 do we push element #2 in there or do we push and turn? As a whole i can get the unit in there, but not sure if the ring stays in position by pushing only or something else.
thank you very much hurt my hand too .😀
Looks great - I am headed there to wing with family in March 2025 - did you bring your own gear?
Trying to change now, thinking to sell this shibtox becouse of that. 😄
Thanks for sharing. I’ve flown in the side-by-side Slingsby T-21 at the VINTAGE Glider meet in May. Soooo cool to fly in an open canopy. For real cool..!😎 Jeff’s hanger is amazing.
Yay! 🎉
SUPER... good editing too.!
Thank you man, I felt the same to scratch my hands burn my fingers, I gave up for couple hours but you are a good guide.
Glad it helped!
stupid over engineering,,,tnx for video,,
Thanks from Australia mate. Big help
You never showed how to remove the windshield wiper blades which should be step #1. After the nuts are removed, they are stuck in place seemingly under a washer.
Same, did you find out how to take them off without breaking anything?
This was an extremely helpful video. Thanks for making it.
They came out easy. I can not get them back in. I cant get the 2nd piece the plastic o-ring to latch back on. I did the light first. I can assemble the whole thing properly but it wont latch in there while assembled either.
What website did you purchase these parts from?? I tried parts geek but I cannot find the L/R apron pieces
I think eBay but I recommend just a general search for the best price/tax/delivery total. Also my advise is to go with OEM. Good luck!
After 1hour trying decissed to search, and found this video. After watch it, on 10min they are on place. Thanks
Should I totally disconnect battery before changing it?
I don't believe it's necessary as longs as the lights are OFF.
You spent 90% of the video making me dizzy with your camera and almost nothing to show how it's actually installed. lame
That was exactly my intent, mission accomplished! :D
Ouch that was difficult, thanks for the instructions
Nice flight and video...keep it coming.
great video
very cool!
Excellent How To for canopy and wing cleaning. I will use these materials from now on. Thanks to Marek - my he RIP... Will fly the Grob in his memory..
YIKES..
Super video Maciej ... it was an fabulous day. Sorry we didn't get a chance to fly side-by-side. You were quite a bit ahead of us. I didn't get more than a few pics - no video to post 😞. And my iphone died after 2.5 hrs. I'll post that on our FB page.
One your windshield cowl, does your rubber butt up against the glass and form a seamless fit? I have water in my front driver and passenger carpets. When I opened my hood to inspect trim I noticed the rubber on my windshield cowl is not against the glass.
Yes. The idea is for the water to drain down to the gutters on both sides, so the main piece (#1) should seal against the glass.
@@macmak Thank you sir. I just bought all these pieces. In the corner there are those two little pieces. So the one small piece goes in the corner around that small protruding nob/screw, and attaches there, and the other piece lays over it? Correct?
@@JeLifeCoach My pleasure. Yes, the small piece (#2) clips onto that metal mushroom you can see at 2:34.
@@macmak but does piece 3 go over piece 2? Do I have to take off electrical box and piece #4 to do it like you did or is there an easier way?
@@JeLifeCoach Yes. I found it easier.
How do you feel about it now? I have no clue what style bunk window to get, just know I want slider with screen
Happy overall. I really like the style. No issues so far. For practical considerations, I'd prefer the part that actually opens to be larger.
@@macmak yea I was wondering about that, seems like it could be bigger. I may research the crl ones a little more even though I’ll have the big am sliders up front just to see if they’re more functional. Suprised there aren’t too many options when it comes to windows currently
@@rachel7550 One consideration would be how they mount. These VWD rely exclusively on the urethane. Some CRL rely on screws going into a backing frame which is to be build by the installer (i.e. not provided).
@@macmak Yeaa good point! I wish I could tour a couple vans with each and see which I like better. I’m having a professional install them so I’m sure he could do either one, he’s definently biased towards am auto lol which almost makes me want to do the other kind for the bunks
I enjoyed watching this Video and think I saw rage lake in the distance. Super view.
Nicely done. Enjoy.
Excellent. I have to do this on my X3. Thank you 🙏🏼 Chicago IL
you must be his best friend
As already mentioned by others, key points arе: 1) DO NOT plug the power connector to the ballast before fully mounted to the headlight - there is a little lever inside the ballast's power socket that would push the power connector automatically out on removal. This lever is part of a plate that locks the bulb to the ballast. When you lock the bulb to the ballast, as a result of this plate rotation, the lever hides inside and then the power connector can be plugged freely. If you plug the connector before the bulb is mounted to the ballast and the assembly locked to the headlight, the connector would push this lever -> rotate the bulb lock plate, making then locking to the bulb impossible! 2) Plugging the connector then, will be much-much easier if you free yourself space to operate full hand - for the driver side put the coolant tank aside (2 screws and a rubber grommet) and for the passenger side - the washer liquid tank (held by one screw but you need to also unplug the headlights washer pump from the hose and connector). Thanks for making this vid!
Awesome, I see you are shredding hard for me while I am gone. Thanks. Nice footage and edit! E beach 🎉
I saw that LAFC officially adopted e-Beach LOL
yes, dang Bmw's , but I love them!
hats off to you for doing this video. I have the $80 BMW X3 book and shows what to do but not how... was doing it by feel but see where I'm off. all elements need to aline and I think I have the bulb 90 degrees off. so tomorrow I will go at it again. tonight - I drink...
@ 3:00 it was a pain to get the first one back in, the second went smoothly. you have to fixate on how tings were aligned on the bulb, it had a metal tab at the bottom. then the gray sprocket thing says top on it. i. that was the crux. the last piece has to reach the wire so it only goes on one way. like I said the second one wasnt hard at all. I was worried though for a few minutes though. dang bimmers
i took the headlight out though, made it easier to drop the bulb in( had it on a table facing down) then sprocket, then red power box. no scrapes on knuckles
@@jamesroberts7262 Good thinking
I was struggling as well, even when with this instruction. But than I took a look closely on the mechanics of those 3 parts. And I found the most important one(at least for myself). DO NOT PLUG IN THE POWER WHIRE UNTIL ALL PARTS WILL BE ASSAMBLED. Germans engineers are really cool, when you disassamble red part it will automatically disconnect the power cable.
I think this is my problem. The last part just won’t turn into place with the power wire already connected. Tomorrow I’ll try plugging in the wire AFTER putting in the last red/black part
The wire eject mechanism can also get out of synch if you test fit wire before reinstallation. Look closely at white ring in igniter module and be sure the slots line up. You can also see if the little white ejection pin is visible in wire slot in igniter. If not manually reset it. What a complicated system! HID by itself is great, but the complicated aiming systems on BMWs are not worth the price.
thx for that - saved me lot'sa time

Keep making videos of dust devils.
Cool. 😎👍🏻
Nice
Been struggling with this for over 2 hours and scrapes my hand. With this video got it done on less then 10 minutes. Thank you so much.
My pleasure
Thank you for the video. Much appreciated 🙂
You are welcome
Took me over an hour but just it won't work I hope I didn't mess up the bulb out there was $100
take the other side out and fixate on how it was aligned. the tabs and metal on the bulb and sprocket thing
Damn, wouldn’t have seen it had you not pointed it out! 😳
That think is fuckin hard. I cannot change my d2s bulb on e46 coupe facelift
We all know that LOL. Note this vid is for E83 so there may be some difference vs. E46.
Love it! Great project Professor Olivia
