    Excellent video, but I have a question: how do you wire a different stepper driver, in my case a DM542T. The rest of the components are the same. Thanks

    • @jaredhanson9758
      @jaredhanson9758 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question! The DM542T is a great driver. However, it is a pulse driven driver. Most PLCs cant control a pulse driver without an additional pulse module. Or you can alternatively, use a low cost microcontroller like an Arduino to control that driver. See my other videos for how to use an Arduino. I use a driver that is nearly identical to the DM542T (same wiring and setup)

    Very insightful. You mentioned you have posted another video using a micro controller. What would you say are the pros and cons of using a micro controller vs a PLC for a project like this? Thank you.

    • @jaredhanson9758
      @jaredhanson9758 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi. Sure thing. For most clients, these typically come down to cost and ease of use. --PLC (such as the click plc in this video) PLCs are typically the only thing that manufacturing facilities accept for their controllers. They are typically all their workers know how to work with. PLCs are many multiples more expensive and some brands require expensive software. But they can be easier to work with once you are trained on them. PLCs are also more dependable long-term typically, have better safety ratings and are usually easier to debug. PLCs are also able to handle the voltages used by a lot of industrial systems such as 24VDC and the AC voltages wether directly or though attachment modules. , --Microcontrollers (such as Arduino) Microcontrollers are nice due to their low cost. They can also pulse the stepper driver directly without specialty modules. They do require sketch coding in C++ which is harder to learn than ladder logic. But the tools to program them are free and can allow for some pretty complex options once you are good at coding them. They are also not typically accepted in large manufacturing environments due to not having the same safety certifications as PLCs and that most industrial workers don't know how to work with them. Ardunios are typically only 5vdc and 3.3vdc inputs/outputs, so they require voltage converters if working with higher voltages. Hope that helps

    This was very helpful. I would like to see more about how curved faces can be changed from the stl version into the new model. the two videos I have watched of yours you only dealt with flat faces and only the parts of the original model that you wanted to modify. That was very helpful because I kept thinking I would need to change the entire model to be contained in the model I was working with NOT just the part I was going to change. After you demonstrated how you did this it made total sense so thank you for taking the time to share this. Also, if you do have a video on how to convert curved faces i'd be interested in watching - please share which video you recommend on this.

    Hola Jared, estoy tratando de implementar tu código a mi actuador lineal de husillo de la firma FUYU de 500mm de recorrido con dos limitadores de recorrido en los extremos. El fin es hacer subir una camara de fotos con paradas cada cierto intervalo de tiempo mientras que una plataforma horizontal con otro motor paso a paso realiza un giro completo con paradas a intervalos fijados y disparo de fotos, unas 32 fotos por giro. En mi actuador lineal he colocado una plataforma para colocar una cámara de fotos y el disparo lo hago mediante un relé opto-acoplado👍👍👍. El objetivo de todo el sistema es el de obtener conjuntos de fotos de un objeto formando grupos de fotos agrupados en anillos concentricos para posteriormente calcular un modelo 3D de alta definición. ¿Seria posible disponer de un poco mas de detalle de las conexiones de los pines de tu aplicación. Para mi, tu software es un medio, no soy un experto en programación con Arduino. Muchas gracias.👍

    Hello Jared Hanson, can you help me with a software-related matter? I want to create a project. In my project, I will be using a Nextion TFT screen, Arduino Uno, Green LED, Blue LED, DC motor driver, and DC motor components. In addition, I will use one yellow button and one red button. The program's operation is as follows: I will input a value, such as 5000 milliseconds, into the "n0" object on the Nextion screen. I will also enter a value between 0 and 255 into the "n1" object, which will be related to the motor's speed. Based on these values, the motor will run between 0 and 255 revolutions for 5000 milliseconds and then stop. After entering these values, to start the program, the "b0" object on the Nextion screen and the Arduino, connected to the analog "pin1" yellow button, will serve the same function. Whenever the analog "pin1" button or "b0" object is pressed, the motor will start running again and stop when pressed again. In case of an emergency while the motor is running, there will be a red button connected to analog "pin2" to stop the motor. When the "pin2" button is pressed, the running program will stop immediately, and the green LED will turn off. To restart the program, we will need to press the "Dual State Button" button. All of this system will be controlled by the "dual state button" object on the Nextion screen. When the dual-state button is open, the system will be ready to run, and the position of the dual-state button will be indicated by the green LED connected to digital "pin 12". I want to create a project that operates in this way. What is the cost of such a project?

    It is possible to convert with textures? I have OBJ object with textures, but when I convert to .STL and open in Maya, i can't see it.

    This actually brought me back the real reason why i should've purchased few of those scrap tablets from fleamarket. And actually, if you do "the superlong video", i would suggest that you split it to few parts (to include some learningpoints), and in the end just do last one to be collab of those (so 5 parts and 6 videos altogether). Thank you for this and always up to videos like this!

      Thanks for the feed back Maiska, I think splitting it into sections would be easier on the person trying to learn as well.

    was trying to follow with you, but after doing all the previous steps till ,modify mesh, my "mesh " option under modify is not there, my last option is "convert" instead, help?

    • @jaredhanson9758
      @jaredhanson9758 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @Jim09channel, you are correct. Fusion360 changed the name of that tool to "convert mesh". I added a note about that to the video notes and will try to update the video soon. If you would like quicker help, you can reach out on Discord to get faster response. Discord link in the video discription.

    Thanks for the video. What about .mtl files? EasyEDA exports all 3d objects in one shot as a zip archive that contains .mtl and .obj and sounds like .obj needs something from .mtl?

    • @jaredhanson9758
      @jaredhanson9758 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. ".mtl" files are often sent with ".obj" files. A .mtl file is a companion file to an .obj file in 3D computer graphics. The .mtl file contains material definitions for the objects defined in the .obj file. In other words, the .mtl file describes the surface appearance of the objects in the 3D scene. It contains information about the material's color, texture, transparency, reflectivity, and other properties that affect how light interacts with the object's surface. You dont need the ".mtl" file in fusion. You can just use the ".obj". Feel free to reach out on discord if you have more questions. Link in the description.

    Thanks for the video! I have a project where I need to run 4 seperate Neopixel strings from a single RaspberryPi, Is this even possible as I see many people saying you can only run 1. Thanks! all advice welcome as I'm a bit stumped at the moment. The reason why I need to run 4 is each string will be removable and have different options available for selection.

    • @jaredhanson9758

      Yes. I do it quite often with Arduino and and FastLED library. You can apply the same technique to the raspberry pi. Feel free to reach out via the discord linked in the video discription.

    I am getting into fusion 2 years after this video. One thing that has affected me is that my design has become one body and I cannot edit any faces, like I cannot select a face and extrude it like you showed. Some how, I managed to go from a design I was creating, adding holes and extruding surfaces, to one object that whatever I touch, the whole model turns blue... Is there an easy way to suggest what I might have done and the right word to undo it? I am using the latest Fusion as of March 2023...

      Hi Rick, can you send me a copy of the design your working on? I have a discord setup to help people for free with their projects. You can send it there. The link to it is in the description. Or if you are wanting a paid consultation, my email can be found through youtube.

      @@jaredhanson9758 Grief I am impressed you came back so fast.. Respect. I am a 70 year old Electronics design engineer just getting into fusion as I have had 3D printers for some time. I use the free student option and would prefer a no cost solution.. I have downloaded your video and come away from it in you tube so I shall have to locate it again... My design machine is NOT this linux laptop so if I can manage to locate a means to send you the design, I will send it from that machine.. I am sure I have "simply" managed to accidentally combine all the faces into one component/body... Knowing the right way to UNdo whatever the combine command is, might be all I need... Thanks for getting back to me.. Let me relocate the video and I'll take it from there.. Many thanks again... I would pay for a one to one evening class on Fusion because I have so many questions, like why does my 3D representation vanish after editing a sketch. Sometimes, after ending the sketch, Fusion drops back to the 3D render and sometimes, I end up with a 3d sketch.. No need to answer that.. I can't expect you to tutor me on the comment section.. It's just so frustrating despite being pretty sharp with my PCB design software that I have used for about 20 years.... It makes me feel so stupid :)
