I haven't seen one of your videos for ages,it was a great pleasure, the dolls are beautiful & the detail & observation to detail was wonderful. Though non survive,there are frescos & mosaics of Roman ladies in bikinis. There was a recent discovery - 2008 -in Lengberg castle in Austria ; four bra-like fragments,representing 3 designs,all with seperate cups.From the 15th century these 600 year old items,made of linen rewrite the history of ladies underwear,I use the word ladies as these would have been high status garments,the panties were tiny & tied at the sides. 17 boxes containing 4,000 items of which 2,700 are fragments of clothing,made from wool,silk & linen,radiocarbon dating has confirmed their age. The linen appear to be linings for wool articles and most fascinatingly the side tied linen underpants that look like a modern woman's bikini bottoms were actually menswear! Exceptional examples of needlework lace was found decorated the seams of some garments for both ladies & gentlemen, it appears they were worn by the masters & mistresses of the castle before ending up a wall filling. The beautiful pleated gowns shown on your dolls are reminiscent of the oldest existing dress found anywhere to date,The Tarham dress found South of Cairo in Egypt in 1913 by Flinders Petrie, is a linen pleated dress that dates to5,100 to 5,500 years old. There are dolls going back to Egypt & Pompeii & figures found recently made of Monmouth Ivory appear to be toys with clothes carved onto them.
