We are an eclectic homeschooling family. We use a wide variety of resources to homeschool our two children. We used some curriculum, classic books and used books to educate our children. We will share ways you can homeschool on a budget, homeschool and work full time, and how to put together and create your own homeschool curriculum.

Hey, I'm a student currently studying in the ace curriculum, but i feel like im not learning. When im on a pace, i ace everything, including the test. The problem comes when i move on to the next pace. I forget almost everything i learned in the previous pace.
How long do these science experiments usually take to set up and complete?
Did he do all three history books in one year?
Thank you!!
This is relevant to me now as I have a rising 9th Grader. Thanks for putting this out there. We used America's Story this past year.
Did you enjoy that history book? I have been considering gettong Americas Story
@@allheartandsong Yes. I chose it for the way it's written (storylike) and it doesn't shy too far away from tough topics. Now, I must say that I end up adding a ton of other books to any history curriculum these days because I want a more well-rounded history. I have a video in the making explaining how America's Story worked for us and how I do history using secular and Christian books and why ( since we're a Christian family).
I also wanted to add that we all read it together out loud and it sparked great discussions amongst the grades. (then 5th, 6th and 8th)
@@homeschoolingthroughhighschool i will check out your video!
Thank you for this helpful video!
Do you prefer this to ACE?
I like this concept. Is there a 2nd grade level for this??
We use Master Books and was curious about this resource. Thank you for sharing!
Those unit headings are identical to Calvert's online homeschool curriculum for grade six.
Great review! But your dog made me crack up. Hahaha!
really god! tks
Did you not like life Pac? I just o Bought it.
There's a program called Bridgeway Academy and they teach Math U See curriculum. My daughter completed pre-algebra this school year and did really well. It is also an approved vendor for charter schools.
Have you tried teachingtextbooks.com ?
Yes, both of my kids tried it they didn't really like it. They seemed to do ok with Math u See.
*Always Loved DK Books* 📚✨
TEACHING TEXTBOOKS IS SO COOL FOR MATH TOO! YOU CAN TRY THE SECTIONS FREE. I SE IT WITH LIFEPAC
hi, for buying that curricula, is there any way we can get a discount or a place we can buy it cheaper, maybe a second hand or anything else?
Thank you. Good to see you back👍⚘
Thanks! Hopefully I can post more videos soon.
Thank you sooo much! This video was very helpful for I am a visual learner,
Thank you for such a thorough explanation. I ordered this already and I am so glad to get an inside look. Thank you again for calming my fears if I made the right decision and I am so happy that I did order this curriculum.
Thanks! Your video helped me decide on the government lifepacs for 12th grade.
We homeschool as well. Utilizing this same curriculum as well. We are currently entering 3rd grade..which we also only recieve the LIFEPAC Science, History and Geography as we use Horizons for all the rest...was extremely disappointed that in Section 4 on page 41 entitled "YOU GROW AND CHANGE" of the Science unit 1 Student Workbook the publishers included a inferred reference as fact...Animals as well plants do indeed have Conscience, Spirit and Mind...I.e. Creativity...shaking my head. No worries a letter is being written.
We are entering 3rd grade as well. This is a little concerning to me as well. We haven't received our lifepacs as of yet but should next week.
Just Wendt For 2nd grade what curriculum did you use ...I’m trying to find one for my 2nd grade daughter
This didn’t bother me. Actually, it is refreshing to find in a Christian curriculum. Trees breathe. Animals have internal instinct. The creator, who created all things, has intertwined His “DNA” (for lack of a better term), in all created things. Me. Plants. Animals. We are NOT all little Gods. But God is in all things. It’s a very different and good way to view God in all His expansiveness. I love being able to explain these things to my kids. Thanks for your review! It was very helpful!
Thank you for this! I am looking at this for the coming school year! 💗
Thank you! I have already been using MB, MLFLE for my girls and plan to start using MB for LA as well. I am starting my 9yr old (3rd grade) with Language Lessons level 2 & Elm. Bible & English Grammar for my 11yr old (6th grade).
Hey Maria, I Subscribed, such an interesting and unique family with many ties to education. Good for you and all that you took your time and thanks for sharing here. videos are very clear and simple but personal. Where in the world are you based? I am a 20 something man from and in the Netherlands. I want to homeschool kids and be the primary caregiver/home parent. I found you through your video about the dk books. I borrowed one at the library titled 'Human' which covers the human body, lifecycle, society, culture and the peoples of the world and now I'm ordering it for my collection. How much do you connect with others on the homeschooling path?
Thanks for your reviews 🙂😍
I was looking at master books also
Hi thanks for showing the a.c.e math. Do you like a.c.e? Do you use other subjects too? Are you all still doing a.c.e?
We no longer use ACE. I still think it is a good curriculum. My son is not the workbook type. He is now using teaching textbooks for math. We use living books-documentaries for science and history. That is just his style of learning. My daughter did like ACE so she used it longer, but then needing a change, so she is doing the same things as my son. Just remember that every family and child, what works for us my not work for you. Hope all goes well for you this year!
Thank you for your input😍 we are going to do master books science and America's story.....
We are also considering bju press for English grades 4&6
Masterbooks is awesome! We have a few books from masterbooks as well. I have not used BJU but the few books I have seen are very thorough. It is really expensive though, but you might be able to find some used.
Hey can you show me the natural history book from DK Smithson
I am thrilled to see that the answer keys doesn't just lust the answers, but also the steps taken to get to the answer. That feature is missing in the answer keys to the curriculum that I'm switching from. Thank you so much for sharing.
That was so well done and informative I am always concerned of the answer KEY because I don't know the answers lol so I'm sold!! Thank you
Just subbed:) thanks for sharing! I can’t wait to order our master books curricula too!!!! Yay!!!!!
Just subscribed....thank you for such a thorough review! I will probably be using this next year or this year if things don't go well with our original plans! Thank you for sharing!
your child is an amazing artist
Have you looked into Math Lessons for a Living Education from Masterbooks? Your son might like it. It is very light and gentle but very straightforward.
Maria Covarrubias I bought it for both my kids for this upcoming school year. I got level 6 for him and looked through it. I think it will be a perfect fit. I also hated math when I was in school and to this day I think I didnt really learn it well. I think it will be a good refresher course for me too. 😁
Accelerated Christian education is an indoctrination program literally created by white supremacists. A.C.E is not accredited and the diplomas IT issues are worthless. The curriculum contains tens of thousands of factual errors- for example it literally sites the existence of the Loch Ness monster as proof that Evolution does not occur. I am not making that up, that's literally what it teaches. A.C.E. also teaches that apartheid was a good thing because if you let black people vote they'll create a welfare state that will bankrupt the economy. Do not under any circumstances use Ace, it was literally created by a pedophile who was run out of his own organization for treating his own student body like an all-you-can-rape buffet. It's a system designed to enable predation, and nothing else. It does not educate, it only harms.
Just curious do you or do you know of people that Xerox the books so that younger siblings can re-use?
I do not Xerox these books and I don't know anyone who does. I don't think you can make copies because of the copyright. I know that there are some workbooks and some curriculum that do allow making copies for family use only, but I don't think Lifepac gives that permission.
+Freestyle Homeschooling Oh okay, thanks! :)
Thank you for this!
I’m fat
Im sure you are not:)
Not helpful but ok good to know.
Hi! Im homeschooling my eldest son. Ive watched 2 of your videos and you have given reviews to both Lifepac and ACE curriculum... In your honest opinion, which is a better curriculum? Hoping for your reply... God bless!
Hello Yvonne. It is a little hard for me to compare them because last year I bought Lifepac Science/History and ACE Math/English for my 6th grader. He didn't like either of them, he is not a workbook type of kid. He likes reading books and watching documentaries and science shows. On the other hand my 2nd grade daughter loves ACE. Right now she is using it for Math and English. She loves the PACEs so much that she told me she wants to do all subjects with ACE. I just recently bought a few science 2nd grade PACES for her. I will try to do a quick look inside video for them. I had bought the Lifepac because I had seen bad reviews on the ACE science and history, but in my opinion I think I like the format of ACE better than Lifepac. Lifepac seems a little more dry in presenting facts, and ACE tends to have a more simple way of presenting but it is still giving good information. The younger levels sometimes seem a little easy but from what I have seen it tends to get a little harder in the upper grades. I would suggest you have your kids take the placement test on their website (ACE ministries) then just buy a couple PACEs to try them out. It is nice to be able to buy individual PACES to try them out first, if it doesn't work out then at least you didn't spend a ton of money on something that doesn't work. Andrea Mills has a lot of youtube videos on ACE if you want more info. I hope this was helpful! :)
Thanks for showing this! I’ve been having the hardest time finding a science and social studies curriculum for my daughter! This might work out. She is already doing the lifpac for LA.
I agree with you 100% .thank you for making this video.
I'm 6th grade and my math is hard its 1004
I mean 1094
Thank you for showing the Science and Geography Lifepac books. I wanted to see what they looked like on the inside and that helped. I use Christian Light Education, but I am trying to find a Science that is more colorful plus academically sound. Is this the only curriculum you have used? Why do you like this curriculum?
Hello Zoe Girl! This school year was our first year homeschooling, so I tried a few different things. My 12 yr old son is the one who used the life pac science and history. It wasn't a good fit for him. He wasn't retaining the information, he would read and answer the questions but after would not really learn the information. He does love to read historical fiction so next year we are going to use a Charlotte Mason approach. He learns better through reading stories and with living books. This doesn't mean that Lifepac will not work for other children. If the child works well with workbooks it is a good curriculum. It is colorful has maps and pictures. I hope this helps answer your question. :)
I wanted to share our experiences with this curriculum so you can be better informed. We have the entire curriculum, grades 2,4 and 6. We are not happy with it. I always have my kids look up their answers on questions and the answers are not always clear in the subject matter. Sometimes they aren't in there to be found. Sometimes they are extremely hard to find. And at times they will be worded differently than the question. Just sat week my daughter did a crossword puzzle and I had to give her all the answers due to the wording being different in the subject matter. Not very beneficial if they have to be given the answers. And we have this problem often with this curriculum. One more thing I want to mention is the workload. Some subjects have a big workload so depending on your child you may need to cut the workload in half. We had to do that with our kids. 7-8 pages of language arts and math in one day, just to give you an idea.
I meant to type "last week" and not "sat week" Sorry, I couldn't edit.
+Ky Girl Hi I wanted to know how do you grade by points..
Ky Girl hey. Who do you recommend? We are trying to find one for our daughter.
Hi! Why won't you use ACE anymore?
Hello Carolina. I personally really like ACE but it wasn't a good fit for my kids especially my 12 year old son. I like the fact that I don't have to lesson plan, since I work full time it makes it so much easier for me. We were only using it for English and Math. The English had way too much cursive, and my son never learned cursive in public school so we would have had to start from the beginning with cursive. Also the math was not a good fit for him. He doesn't like math, and we already tried teaching textbooks, now ACE and I have figured out that he needs more of a visual and mastery approach. Next year I am going to try Math u see and Learn Math fast to see if we can fill in some gaps. I also want to work on his writing skills which we plan to use IEW. I personally did like it, I felt that it was straight to the point, but my kids are not really workbook kids. It was our first year homeschooling and we were trying to figure out what works for us. I think we are more of a Charlotte mason approach type of family, we really like books, stories, notebooking, and doing nature study. I know that for some families ACE works out great, every family is different and it takes a little while to figure out what works for you. :) I hope this helps answer your question. Thanks for your comment!
Thank you so much for answering me back! And you are totally right, every family is different. This was our first year of homeschool and we used an online curriculum which didn't work for us. We will be using ACE for next homeschool year. We'll see how it goes. Greetings from Ecuador (South America 🇪🇨) 🤗
This is grade 2 too me Ace is easy try other subjects
Hi have you done a video on your timeline and how you put it together and what resources you use I love the way you have it set up
I haven't done a video on the timeline, but I can do one. I haven't had alot of time for new videos but I plan to do some this weekend :)
Hey maria loved your review I had a question do you have both the eyewitness and Smithsonian DK books if so what would you say are the differences
Thank you so much for these videos on ACE paces!!! My children are doing Christian Light Education Light Units, and they just aren't working for our family. Did your daughter have any trouble beginning the first grade Paces, having not completed the ACE Kindergarten program first? That's what has kept me from buying a few Paces to try, I wasn't sure how confused they would be, regarding the marks above some of the letters and having some letters in a word written in a different color. Both of my children are at the point where they know all of the letters and their sounds, so I really couldn't justify going back and spending so much money to redo their Kindergarten year. I look forward to watching more of your videos, and seeing a review of how you liked the Paces at the end of the year!
Thanks for your comment, I am happy to know that people can benefit from the videos. My daughter does like the PACE's. She did not have trouble going into first grade PACEs. In fact we did not start at the beginning, she started around the middle of first grade PACEs. We didn't do ACE kinder program because she went to TK and Kinder at public school. You can have your child take the diagnostic test before you buy the PACEs to see where your child is at. Just go to aceministries.com and have them take the diagnostic test for free. Once you know where to start you can buy a few PACEs separately instead of the whole entire package to make sure it works out for them first.
