    Hi, i’m a mom interested in doing the independent homeschool I have a highschooler who’s about to graduate this upcoming year2025 a middle school student and an elementary student. That you did mention using a Christian based curriculum, would you mind sharing which one that is? I’m at a loss and I feel a bit overwhelmed about all of this, but I’m determined to do it for my kids this upcoming school year thank you.

    Hi, I’m in 10th grade and I went solely on flex classes and I’m thinking about going back to public school next year for 11th grade. Can I just simply enroll back into school or is their extra steps. Im done with math,history,English,and science but im not sure I can finish my two electives in time for august. Does it matter?

    • @homeschoolOG
      @homeschoolOG 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Congratulations on finishing your classes on FLEX! If you were given passing grades on FLEX, those should transfer back to public school as credits. You should contact the school to be certain of the paperwork they will need, but yes, they would accept you back with FLEX credits. If you do not finish your electives, that just means you'll have to make sure you have enouch elective credits to graduate. Call the school and they will be able to walk you through exactly what you need to do with your FLEX courses/transcript.

      She has had a great year with the book! And the career exploration course was through 7 Sisters Homeschool if that helps any. My daughter has done a bunch of course work on horses (farrier science, equine nutrition, training). There are some great books out there as well. I am due for annual videos for our coursework for next year so i'll be sure to put that on the list! :)

      We really enjoy EIW! I have used it with my oldest from level 4-10 and she just finished her first college writing class with an A. It prepared her well for sure. I wouldnt say it's "exciting" of "fun" but since the lessons are short and sweet, my kids don't complain. So we stick with it!

    do you mind giving a description of your 5th graders day and how you have structured it with the order of subjects and amount of time? he sounds a lot like my 5th grader who is easily distracted and does not like to write.

    • @homeschoolOG
      @homeschoolOG ปีที่แล้ว

      I basically let him get up and make his own breakfast every day. After he cleans up, he looks at a checklist, on Monday morning usually, and makes his list for the week on his own. I like to give him choices on days that he does things. So for instance Monday and Tuesdays he does his reading, math, and language arts, and I’ll add our science or history in the afternoon after lunch. I just make sure he’s in control of doing the choices of what he does in a day as long as he meets the expectations I have for the week which are usually a few lessons in each subject. We have never been a strict schedule type homeschool but more guiding the kids as to how to manage their time the best according to the days they know they have the most time and energy. Hope this helps ❤️

    • @butterflylady5477
      @butterflylady5477 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi,the parents do the transcripts and issue the diploma unless they have an umbrella school or accredited school but the PS not issued transcripts or diplomas for homeschoolers because their homeschool is a private school and obviously the children are not at public schools anymore the parents have the rights to do it,most of the colleges accept homeschoolers also can do dual enrollment at local colleges! Have to check the Florida homeschool laws or call your homeschool group or association or organization to make sure😉

    Thank you so so much. I struggle trying to find other moms who are doing homeschool in my area and I feel so stuck on what to do, I know for sure I want my kids homeschooled but I’m unsure of how to even start. • @homeschoolOG
      @homeschoolOG ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand the struggle. We have homeschooled for 12 years and built a very large community around us. It takes time, patience, and persistance. Join some local social media groups, go to museums or nature centers during the school year and see if you can find other mommas there. Keep at it, ask around, and you will find your people! Look for local co-ops, go to the library and ask the librarian (they always know where the homeschoolers are LOL!) and go to local art studios. Keep exploring your community as much as you can and don't be afraid to ask around. Your kids will see you modeling this determination, and before you know it, you'll have some people and can maybe grow your own group! We started when my kids were little doing field trips with other families. This is a fun way to start making friends outside of the house. Also if you get your kids signed up for sports, clubs or activities, that helps as well. If you attend church, find a local youth group. Happy Homeschooling ❤

    When you say Christian based. Like Montessori? Please list various curricula that is great like Montessori or younger kids in elementary. I will be starting next year. Finishing this year out. I have 2 youngest and also want to include them. My son was tested into gifted. But he lost so much of my lessons when he started school.

    • @MsAnjoli
      @MsAnjoli ปีที่แล้ว

      Montessori is a teaching style. Many have turned it into New Age Spiritual stuff. (Which personally annoys me as a Montessori teacher for 3-6 yr olds.) Dr. Maria Montessori was a Catholic and taught Christian values in her classes. FLVS is not Christian based at all. Christian based curriculum I like for littles are The Good And The Beautiful, Master Books, Thinking Tree Journals and just hands on materials.

    • @laniloveaj
      @laniloveaj ปีที่แล้ว

      @MsJoli yes, definitely this is not a secular learning environment. I'm also familiar with different teaching. I taught High Scope and Teaching Strategies. I'm more hands on, but I still want to know more. Definitely, the majority are following what's trendy instead of actually knowing the history. I do love Montessori style

    • @homeschoolOG
      @homeschoolOG ปีที่แล้ว

      The only montessori-style curriculum we have ever used was Oak Meadow in the early years. While it's not completely Montesorri, it is definitly inspired and would be worth checking out. Though it is secular and not Christian based. I'm sure there are great montessori curriculum out there. We mostly used literature inspired, like Five in a Row or Sonlight, or Charlotte Mason styled curriculum like Queens Homeschool in the early stages of homeschooling. My children are now teenagers and we use a huge mix of things now. Hope this helps. :)
