honestly i dont even care about the academic side of school. ive been getting so much academic validation and the pressure and expectations from my parents are taking a huge toll on my mental health. ive decided to just try and care less, but the whole school system in general is seriously messing me up. i cant just romanticise school and make it aesthetic and everything will be fine. i just dont want to live like this anymore. what do i do??

for everyone worrying about grades: hi. i was a full honors student and nearly took a few AP classes too. *they don't matter that much.* just keep yourself passing, and you'll be fine. don't romanticise the grade, romanticise the act of going to school. think of those classic high school movies and focus on the way they feel. if your school has a vocational study option, DO IT. saved my ass in junior/senior year. *you don't need high grades to have a good life. you just need passing ones.*

I've always been a straight A student. So used to people praising me or using me as an example to tell others to study better. But ever since 2020 I've lost pretty much all interest in learning no matter how hard i try its so hard to understand a topic. I used to barely procrastinate before but its a daily thing now. I don't understand anything now not even myself. I feel so guilty to see my grades falling every exam. I hate to dissapoint my parents and i hate myself for not being good enough :(

friendly reminder that you don't need to ace your finals. you don't need to grab at every single extra credit opportunity, especially if it's slowly killing you. find your passions. follow them. find good friends, accept that sometimes you'll find yourself wasting time, and that's okay. it's okay. know that even if you do ace your finals, and you've got straight a's and a college resume packed full with leadership positions and clubs and sports and awards, none of it matters if you're not happy. none of it. you come first, before expectations and pressure and perfection. your self worth is not measured by your grades. struggle is real. struggle is okay. but struggle shouldn't burn you out.
