Another excellent video. Thank you.
Thanks dude!
Thank you for mentioning Market Share :-) Interesting video overall, thank you!
Thanks Fotios, looking forward to seeing more on your game!
what a wonderful, fast and informative review. Nice job!
I'm very excited to get this played myself. Just showed up a few days ago. Great video as always!
Great job!👏👏👏
Cool
I hope you mention the 2nd full play of Windmill Valley in a future video🙂 very tight game!
Fest season looks interesting but jury out for me on theme. Tech Race visually looks cool. Wondered if you have played Master of Economy? It's older game (2010 i think).I have had it a while and only got it out recently.Looks a bit on heavy side.I might need to get my thinking cap on for this one.
I have had Master of economy on my buy list for like 5 years. It looks 👌 , just difficult finding copies. Home Port is another one I've been after. I do like the shipping theme, Container and Panamax being a few of my favs.
@@economicboardgames I've had my copy a few years but got so many i haven't had chance to check out. I've been after Container for years too, hoping the price will come down a bit but probably won't. Got Panamax after biding my time.Haven't heard of Home Port,i will check it out, thanks.
Love your channel. More, more, more....
Haha appreciate it! My june edition will release Wednesday, so more economic goodness for you!
Tanuki Games FINALLY got some copies of this in stock, so I’m super stoked to finally get a chance to play this one. Thanks for the great videos! Cheers from SF!
Hey, that's great news! Glad to finally see this one hitting retail availability. When it comes to end of round valuations, we found it really useful to draw a grid with 1-7 columns and the order of priority on rows eg number of cards matching etc, and a few matching colour tokens to help keep track of which company is leading on the grid. Enjoy!
Thank you for stopping by to take a look at Earth Rising! It was great talking to you :)
Ye it was a pleasure, thanks for showcasing the game to us! I hope you guys had a great expo
Great to see you discovered Earth Rising, by Stop, Drop & Roll Games, which is based on a real economic model called 'Doughnut Economics' (Kate Raworth, Oxford University), which based on balancing the needs of human population with ability of the planet to renew itself - hence the need for sustainable practices. Interesting stuff!
Thanks for sharing, that's some really useful insight.
Glad you have an amazing time there! I'm interested the most with Windmill Valley. Hope it will distributed to my country sooner or later.
Thanks, ye I had a blast. I hope Windmill valley goes global, it is a lot of fun!
Just wondering what’s the definition of Economic board game? As an economic student it feels like mixing hobby and job
It's rather discretionary but the board game geek I feel has the best summary of an economic game "Economic games encourage players to manage a system of production, distribution, trade, and/or consumption of goods. The games usually simulate a market in some way."
My jinx continued and i didn't get to go again......one day hopefully. Terminus,Pampero thumbs up from me. Windmill Valley too just wished the colours not so much in your face. The board didn't excite me on Earth Rising and board for World Order was a tad underwhelming. Maybe next year for me.
Hey, sorry to hear you couldn't make it, hopefully next time! Ye Earth Rising has a more educational look. I managed a full play of Windmill Valley last night , it was great, the mechanisms and combos offered really shine for me.
Another useful update as always, thanks! I must recommend you to check out Salton Sea from Devir Games. This one can be a mind burner Lacerda-ish style, in a compact sized box just like White Castle. :)
Thanks, I appreciate it. I've got Salton sea on my shelf waiting to learn, once I get through the UKGE convention and Nucleum Australia expansion, it will be next up!
Great list! I have also preordered Inkilap and am excited about it as a Turkish person. By the way, in a recent interview, the designer suggested that Tycoon was one of the sources of inspiration.
Thanks for sharing! Great to hear you've managed to preorder it. I was completely unaware of the interview, but that makes a lot of sense now with it's inspiration.
Oh wow! Where did you preorder the game from?
Try Mr President from GMT games for a detailed World Order experience
I've had my eye on Mr President, it looks super. Might just be a bit complex for what I typically go for in a solo game. Thanks for suggesting though!
Like the look of Conservas,Oranges & Lemons,Windmill Valley. Not sure on Shackleton Base.Main board doesn't knock mt block off colour wise. Whoa,Terminus opposite effect, had to reach for my shades. Checking out games behind you,i like Salton Sea and Euro Crisis although the latter is proving hard to find. Hoping to finally make it to Expo this year.
Yeah I feel the same about the selection of games. I've since found out that Hegemonic Project Games may have some preview stuff on World Order 🤞
Since you're the expert around here: what's your favorite economic board game? I'm looking to advance from Monopoly :D
My favourite economic game is Imperial 2030 but if I was to suggest a game as a step up from monopoly, I would go with Charge Large and then try some of these excellent games like Aquire, Cape May and Chinatown which have similar feel to get you going, enjoy!
@@economicboardgames thanks for the suggestions. Have you ever tried Noble House or Tai-Pan? These are very old financial games based on Clavell's books.
@@trondsi I've not tried either but they both sound interesting especially Noble House. You may enjoy Indonesia or Navegador if you like Tai-Pan. Thanks for the suggestions
@@economicboardgames thanks for all the suggestions! We played around with Tai-Pan a bit and it can certainly be fun. I never played Noble House, but I have heard that it can be good if you make up some house rules (the published rules are sketchy I think).
Whoa, a more colorful sport business simulator. Looks great!
Green player's £20 for their 2nd action in the 1st round ended up in the yellow player's personal treasury.
Thanks for the spot
I am looking for an American football game to play with my brother. But i want one based more on actual playing the game than mainly economical. I realise you featuring it because of the economical aspect.
I can’t wait to play this game. This looks so fun.
It's a very clever game, creates a great dynamic between players. Shame it looks dated but still worth it
I can’t wait to play this game. This looks so fun.
This one looks quite unique. Thank you for the video!
Thanks guys, expansion video coming soon with solo option, really elevates the game!
Any guidance on buying a copy of Shark, can’t find it anywhere?
Been out of print for a while, unless you can get an import of the Korean version. Keeping an eye out for copies on Board game geek market is probably your best chance. Good luck 🤞
I have most of these.Interesting to see new version of Yokohama (got the original) Doubt i would play Suna Valo as card games not for me,i need a board to focus the game. Not normally up for roll and write but Dice of Steam caught my eye. Power Grid expansion looks interesting. Hoping to get to the 'Expo' this year.
Yeah lots of interesting games featured this month and Power Grid Stock companies was absolutely my highlight. Hopefully bump into you at expo, say hi, I'll most likely be in a yellow top with my factory logo on front, can't wait!
This looks great, an adult’s Viticulture 😁
I was pleasantly surprised by this game, Viticulture with expansions is hard to beat though! Such a great game.
@@economicboardgames Quite nice with Tuscany and the visitors (?) deck, I agree
Great summary, got a few things to look into, thanks 😀
Any idea about board games that can be used to teach MBA students about various real life aspects.
Hey, checkout my videos on, Top 10 business games and top 10 economic games for new gamers, enjoy!
I have big boss and im looking to get the rich and the good next. Never thought i would like these types of games so much. What is your favorite between shark, aquire, and big boss?
Very tough question! I love all of them but Acquire wins by a smidge. It is just a little bit smoother and approachable with a group, with varying player counts not adding to much length to the game. But I do enjoy the more accessible sell ability in Shark! Hab & Gut is an awesome game, nice to see it back in print. Let us know how you get on with it
What economics lessons can be learned from these games?
Blimey, where to begin. Most of them represent opportunity cost like nearly all games. Prosperity best represents a scaled down economy. Happy pigs good representation of the factors of production and potentially economies of scale on some occasions. Hab & Gut is all about price fluctuations with demand/supply. You start to see more economic principles showcased in heavier games though, micro /macro, comparative advantage, elasticity, market forces and so on. Something like Indonesia, Container and loads more. Bit of a lengthy topic for comments section lol
How different is it to have one with a map from the first ed. compared to the last one? I know that with the last one there is more strategy, but you can't find it at human prices...
I have tried the one with the map and the one in this video, but yet to try the version with the Shark territory that is central. It would be nice if the new Korean version was more widely available. Such a great game either way
which do you prefer: big boss or acquire?
Very tough question! We have to bring in Shark to the discussion as well, if we're talking Acquire and Big Boss. I love all of them but Acquire wins by a smidge. It is just a little bit smoother and approachable with a group, with varying player counts not adding to much length to the game. How about you? Which is your preferred
@economicboardgames havent played any yet hence i refer to your judgement. 😊 all three (shark too) are available locally here in asia, so will pick one up to try. thank you 🙏
@@ianw0ng Your in for a treat whichever one you try, enjoy!
@@economicboardgames great to know. thank you. 👍😊
1 question : this is the "motor" 's name : rondela mechanik motor ?
I feel that there is no rondel mechanism in this game. Circularity and directions don't really matter in Caravanserai. In essence, we find an action selection linked to movement at the heart of the operation.
Great listing of games, but I'll note that Micro Moonshine's "pre-launch" page is already live on Gamefound with a bonus for following the page. (Not linking here since I'm not sure what your policy is on providing links to commercial sites is.)
Always a pleasure watching your videos, thanks! Really great highlights, many of the games in this video really caught my eye :) A quick question, can you provide a BGG link to the images of upgraded FCM components? or BGG username? Thanks!
Hey, thanks so much. Here is the link to those beautiful FCM components, enjoy! boardgamegeek.com/image/8060663/food-chain-magnate
You're doing amazing work. Thank you for every game representation. I'm strict follower of you.
Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words my fellow economic gamer!
I'm a high school econ teacher with a free hand on what to teach and how to teach. Im recently converting econ games into lessons, or converting lessons in to games (not sure which). We have finished Chinatown and Powergrid and are currently doing Acquire. Do you have any suggestions? grade 9 class, must play a crowd, cant be toooo long or fiddly or expensive or complicated.
I have a video 'Top 10 Economic Board Games for new gamers' which will feature a lot of games matching your criteria. Vegetable stock and Happy Pigs being two great choices. The 1979 version of ' Manager' is also a cracking game if you can find a copy. I am contactable at economicboadgames@hotmail.com for further enquiries, enjoy!
You have me really interested in India Tycoon, I only heard bits and bobs about it but it sounds really nifty.
No worries thanks for sharing, hopefully you get to play it soon. Hopefully be out retail end of the year I would say
What about food chain magnate?
I think he's focusing only on games that were released in 2023
Yep top 10 2023 for now,but FCM would absolutely make my top 10 of all time!
Just nabbed big boss on Amazon for 10 bucks! Couldn't believe it. Excited. ☺️
Wow thats a great deal for a great game, enjoy!
@@economicboardgames yes it did not last long at all. The deal was gone within half a day. Thank you. Def looking forward to trying it ☺️
Your channel really deserves more viewers
Thank you, that's much appreciated
Nice list, but please add chapters and keep the game screenshot you're currently discussing in the background.
Thanks for watching and the feedback
