Division 2 Baseball Just Got WAY More Attractive for Recruits
Big changes are coming to Division 2 baseball, and they could be a game-changer for players looking to get on the field earlier. The NCAA has introduced a new rule that allows first-year players to appear in up to 30% of games without losing a year of eligibility. In this video, we break down what this means for recruits, why it makes D2 a more attractive option, and how it compares to similar redshirt rules at the D1 level.
If you’re a player or parent weighing your college baseball options, understanding how this rule impacts development, playing time, and recruiting strategies is crucial. We’ll dive into the benefits for both players and coaches, and why D2 baseball should be on your radar.

      @@AntonEberhart Yes, Sir. I tell my kids (Middle Schoolers) all the time-Our society has an obsession with wanting to appear to be something or someone versus actually BEING! There are people that want the title and/or position, not the JOB, WORK or RESPONSIBILITY. I tell them, they need to identify who they are now, and does it align with who or what they want to be! We have this same issue in our city in TN, where we are the “other side of town” - many of the other schools in our conference aren’t developing talent, they’re just managing it.

    Kids do what get them recruited. The measurables are what the coaches can use to compare kids against their peers. Most college coaches or scouts aren't able to follow a kid around for a whole season to see what kind of player he is. Good pitchers get overlooked all the time because of a lack of velo, even though they get batters out. The showcases were what the coaches and scouts wanted, now they complain about the product of that.

    • @Losavelli
      @Losavelli วันที่ผ่านมา

      Couldn’t agree more! This is exactly what happened. Players know that velo is king (exit and arm), so that’s what they focus on. Players are recruited/scouted based off their five tools. They complain about the lack of baseball IQ but aren’t recruiting it. Twitter or Instagram posts are highlighting tangible skills, not their baseball IQ. Recruiters aren’t watching these guys play; instead they are following their social media and making decisions based off that. Until scouts and recruiters start making baseball IQ a priority, then we will continue to see the demise in that component.

    There might be a little luck to RBIs sometimes ... but its mostly correlated to average with runners in scoring position and slug ... doubles and homeruns lead to RBIs. High average w runners in scoring position lead to RBIs ... but how many at bats a game have a runner in scoring position? ... without runners in scoring position OPS is def. More valuable than average. With no runners in scoring position there is no difference between a hit and a walk.

    I believe the answer is the 2nd one as well, especially with 2 outs as the runner will definitely be running on contact. I believe putting the ball in play- aside from BA, is very important. You talked about the playoffs and although im not a Tigers fan i loved the way they play the game, grinding out Abs, and taking the extra base. Those teams are tough to beat. My son is in his freshman year and is on the lowest JV, coaches acknowledge he is not a power hitter but told him a path to get to the better jv. More line drives and getting on base.
