    I have not made a small forehand approach for a long time, I am not aiming to make it, but rather trying to remember to think about where I want the real putt to be FROM. It surely helps using the putters more and on angles and therby knowing them more and more. Looked at a video last year june (Ricky Wysocki teaches Carter Ahrens how to WIN at DDO Practice Round at ECC | Dynamic Discs Open) and on hole 3 at about 11 minutes and 20 seconds in he teaches some long distance putting, from that video I stopped trying unecesseray stuff to get close.

    Thanks for these tips! I find that 100-120 is my least favorite range to have to approach from, but find myself there ALL THE TIME. I can't control a "mini" backhand throw from that distance, and even my forehand approach often leaves me with more of a putt than I want because I can't seem to finesse the finish. I'm going to try this out and see if I can't finally get an approach that finishes straight and softer!

      @@amandabenoit1603 Short approaches feel so awkward to me also. I thinks it's why I developed such a putt in the first place. Just feels so much easier to be accurate at this range when I'm not trying to "throw" as soft as I possibly can. Hope it works out for you and thanks for watching!

    People sleep too much on the FH with slow discs- you can do some serious shot shaping. This is one of the best shots I have. Having a disc slow turn toward a basket and landing with no skip is sometimes the preferable shot over the backhand approach with skip.

      I throw 125ft putter sidearms at my practice basket all day. I consider outside the bullseye a bad shot from that range now. I'm not even talking 3 speeds, i don't even own one. What putters do you recommend? I realize I have no throwing putters… I put with the soft links, I do also have an old p2 and an Aviar but not sure if they’re great throwing putters

    • @LuceDiscGolf
      @LuceDiscGolf 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm a big fan of MVP / AXIOM when it comes to throwing putters. The Proxy is my go to form helper disc. If you don't release it smooth it will tell you for sure. The Glitch is also always good for this but for some may be a little too difficult to learn with as it requires a very smooth release to fly well, I would almost say it's more of a second step after you are seeing an Axiom Proxy fly well. The trick is to look for something that sells itself as a neutral to slightly understable flyer. An Aviar will work for this, I have a few in DX plastic and if I throw with any wobble they start to really turn, especially once it has gotten beat in a bit. Another reason I recommend MVP / AXIOM for throwing putters is that I find they beat in slower than other brands, allowing you to get a consistent flight path longer, even if you are hitting a lot of trees! Other than that find what feels comfortable in your hand. If you play with other people see if you can try what they throw. If the grip feels comfortable that's the best starting point. For instance Aviars feel a little awkward in my hand so I don't have on in my bag anymore.

      @@scootermustang7683 it definitely feels like you need to smooth it out to get a good flight out of it. My forehand has improved since making this video, I might want to try it again and see how it flys with a more dialed throw. Backhand though, was loving it for sure.

      Absolutely 💯. The big difference is at the high level you need both. I think playing safer in earlier divisions will lead to success and help with learning how to manage courses / manage a win. I just won this past weekend at a local c tier and round 2 I played for par in heavy winds, safe shot after safe shot. Got a couple birdies but the field loss to the wind while I just held on to my lead from round 1.

  • @zaco_disc
    @zaco_disc 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’m going to disagree this video proves your premise that getting off the tee is more important, I think they are both equally important. I feel like your video has a hard disadvantage for the putter player. Their drives “suck” so they could take bigger numbers, because it takes more throws to get into putting position (ignoring the fact better putters can make bigger putts so they don’t have to be 20’) So you drive well but also can putt at the same level (you’d don’t change how you putt)? What if your putter “sucks”? Putting left handed for them would at least seem like it’s drives vs putts rather than “look how much better if you are okay at putting but got even closer” 🤷‍♂️

    • @LuceDiscGolf
      @LuceDiscGolf 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the main point I am trying to drive home is that getting clean off the tee is more important than hitting putts due to the scoring possibilities. I'm not saying putting isn't important, I even close saying it has it's own level of importance, I just think that more strokes are saved tee to green than green (counting C2) to basket. Also, getting better off the tee doesn't mean going for the bird it just means insuring the 2 or 3 instead of bringing 4 even in as an option (par 3 as example). I guess the point to stress is a truly "safe every drive" round results in less BAD opportunities and will default give you some GOOD opportunities and at the AM levels (Title is: "...Disc Golf Strategy for Beginners" after all) mitigating bogey strokes can lead to more success than chasing birdies while also teaching how to manage courses within your own skillset.

      It's been nice to get back out in the warmer weather. Getting out in shorts certainly was a fantastic feeling. Thank you for the sub and it makes me immeasurably happy to hear you enjoyed the content!

    Yeah the Watt kicked the Glitch out of my bag instantly. For glow rounds an Eclipse Proxy is laser straight. I’ll have to check out an atom. Also you might like the Streamline Pilot in electron soft. I bagged that for over a year until the Watt came along.

      The Pilot has been on my radar for a minute. Might have to make sure it's in my next putter video. I have an Eclipse Proxy and can agree on it being a laser. The Watt really isn't doing it for me, great flight but just doesn't feel fantastic in the hand so I've put it on the shelf for now. That Atom though, that's going in the bag along with the Proxy. Glitch is staying in aswell.

    Neutron Uplink was too understable for me. If you haven’t tried the glow Uplink that disc is more stable like a 5/5/-2/1. Still a good tailwind disc but much more useable in other situations as well. I gave my standard uplink to my Dad and he loves it for turnovers and straight shots. Fits his 60 year old arm speed like a glove. Also I don’t know many people that actually use the paradox for anything except rollers. It’s just so FLIPPY. Good video man.

      I might fit it in my bag eventually but right now my Fuse is just too good in this slot and I use the heck out of it in the woods as well. That Paradox is soooo flippy, I could see it being a good flippy disc for slow arm speeds but beyond that just way too touchy to rely on (get out of jail disc?) Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!

    Bagging the =K= Stig, Discraft Archer, Discmania Origin... loving this slot! None of those flies the same! ;) (Also Ruby, Cosmos, Heat, Orbital... enjoying the flippy ones processing my form with a good bit of hyzer to have a consistent result when adding or removing power)

      Have thrown the Archer but want to try that Origin as well. I'll have to get my hands on one. Great for working on form, you are spot on there.
